Feeling hip
JASON PONGRACIC
Height: 183cm
Weight: 85kg

Pongracic is a little bit like Adelaide forward Jason Porplyzia in his ability to grab a ball in the air, and provide a marking target further up the ground. His versatility is also something that works in his favour, meaning he can add some physical presence around stoppages and bust through packs.

Jackson rise
Although Macrae surprised many this season, including himself, his rise actually began at the start of last year at Carey. Then, under coach and two-time North Melbourne premiership player David King, Macrae was shifted to the half-back flank.

With every run down the wing, shimmy and left-foot pass, Macrae started catching the attention of people who mattered.

"I think over short distances I'm pretty effective. Obviously over longer distance my kicking and penetration is an area I want to improve and really getting to that consistent 50-55 metre kicking," he says.

"I think with my run and carry I break open the game but I'd really like to add that extra string to my bow with my kicking distance, so it's something I'm working."

Another half back flanker...

So the arbitrary difference between 10 and 11 (or 12 in Lucas' case) is the difference between someone with "talent" and someone without it. This is one of the most illogical posts I have ever read, even for bf it is bad
It's really not the point he was trying to make.

Looks like it's your turn to get smashed for having an opinion today goreds :p

I don't disagree with goreds, the drafting bigger players over smaller ones is a bit like the saying "a champion team will always beat a team of champions unless that team of champions is very good". I usually lean towards the bigger players, they have a better ability to stick tackles, hold their ground at stoppages and in contests and be competitive in the air but sometimes you get players who are just too talented to ignore like Marc Murphy, Daniel Kerr, Boomer Harvey etc.

From what I've seen of Kennedy he's a very hard running player that gets a heap of the ball inside and out and can kick nice long goals so he has plenty to offer and if our recruiters identify him as the player for us I think we get a very good one but generally what goreds is saying has merit, big blokes that can hold their ground in a contest are vitally important.

My point was not to overlook 'short people' who can seriously play over beasts that, while superb athletes with 'upside', have less footy nous. There's a balance to be had, to be sure.

Every so often I like to stick my neck out just to see what happens!! ;)

Anyway, if I had any influence at the club or any idea what was happening at our great club I would hope they would already have made their decision... :thumbsu:

"Yes?"

Thinking outside the square a bit here but with all the trouble with WA cricket at the moment especially with the Marsh brothers.

The club should have a chat to Mitchell Marsh to see if he is tempted to make the switch to AFL. He has just turned 21, played full forward for WA in the u/18's champs a few years back and the talk was he would go top 20 in the draft if he nominated.

Picking a player up from another sport allows you to pay them outside of the salary cap.

Thoughts?

Yeah nice one. It would be great to finally get a free chance at a player

would have to pay him alot, he's got a promising cricket career, in a year or two he'll be playing tests for australia and the ipl would be lining his pocket quite nicely

Folau and Hunt have been paid "marketing allowances" by the AFL after they were recruited, so something similar may be available for Marsh. It would be a pretty big bet for the AFL, taking away a promising cricketer with Marsh's pedigree.
