That is now correct.

At this point in time we have 4 spots available to us in the ND if we want to go that way and one spot in the rookie draft.

Still some time to play out to what we'll ultimately do, but fair to say that we think we'll do better than Collins.

I also don't buy that we're as squeezed in the Salary Cap as has been suggested. Tippett anyone?
Malthouse doesn't rate him too highly ... said he was worth only $500,000.
I wouldn't mind Marcon at pick 71.

If Jack Viney goes into the draft he becomes my number 1 target! however he will most likely become before #11 if that were the case. Jack is a fantastic young player! exactly what we need

Don't you remember his news paper article? where he said that he wanted to be a one club player. :)
His dad was Captain of the Club. They will have plenty of salary cap space. Demons have done a dodgy deal on his dads contract.Rightly or wrongly the Demons will feel they have been screwed over by the AFL when others such as Carlton got off scott free. People change their minds ( see Mitch Clark)

I just think it is a risk.

Yeah he probably would go before our pick, helps another good player fall through to us though.

Any chance of Spencer White still being available @ pick 36?

So who are everyone's ideal picks if they were the Carlton Recruiter at the ND? What would you do?

Pick #11 (in order taken if available)
1. Jack Viney (assuming Demons are stripped of 2012 ND Picks)
2. Sam Mayes
3. Ollie Wines
4. Jackson Macrae
5. Jake Stringer
6. Nick FLOSS-TONE
7. Ben Kennedy
8. Kristian Jaksch

Basically if one of those top mids (Toumpas and O'Rourke included) slide to our pick Blues have to jump on it. Otherwise we'll likely hit the best tall remaining. If we can't get Flosstone or Stringer I'd love to see us add Ben Kennedy to the list, who could come in straight away and put pressure of Jeffy Garlett for a position in a pocket/rotating through midfield.

Pick #36

I see this going two ways depending on what is 'best available' with our first pick. If we land a Mayes, Viney, Wines or Macrae with our first, I can see us going with an 'x-factor' forward like Spencer White, alternatively we'll likely go for a first rounder slider or underrated midfielder if we were able to get a Stringer/Vlastuin/Jaksch with our first. Would love to get Stringer and say, Hrovat or Colquhoun with 11 and 36.

What's the general consensus out there? Who should we get?

If Jack goes back into the draft and the Dees lose pick 4 as well, then that will be two extra elite youngsters available at our pick. And that's before we see what happens with Tippett (GWS at pick three maybe).

Have to wonder whether Melbourne knew something like this might happen which is why they traded so many picks...

Exactly. They can't take players away from Melbourne after they've already signed on. The AFL had to approve the mini-draft trade and the F/S son pick, so it's hard to see them backtracking on their decisions. They would look like fools.

Carlton kept French after the trade went through before we lost draft picks in 2002.

Keep in mind that my opinions are based solely on what I've read, and the very limited vision I've been exposed to of a few of the prospects. As such anything is to really be taken with a grain of salt as my knowledge of the draftees is minimal.

I'm not particularly fussed which way we go with pick 11, however my preference would probably be something like -
1. Ollie Wines
2. Sam Mayes
3. Jake Stringer
We'll be selecting the best available here so whoever it is, so be it. Clearly whoever we decide on has talent, and I'll back those in the know to select someone they believe can be a serious player for us for the years ahead. For mine, it doesn't matter what position the best available plays in - I think we need coverage in every area probably outside of the ruck.

After pick 11 I think we can afford to have a closer look at our needs. By the time the 30s come around, I'm not sure there will be any real stand outs available, but stranger things have happened. I think our biggest need is a small defender. AJ tries hard but he's suspect, particularly deep in defense. If Colquhoun is still available, I would hope that this isn't even a debate. Adam Carter is another that I'd be looking at.

After that, who really knows? We've shown a tendency to think outside the square a little later in drafts, so we may well be looking at a mature player, either from a state league or indeed another AFL club. I've been very active in my support of potentially recruiting Surjan. I believe he'd be a risk well and truly worth taking later in the draft.

O'Rourke and Mayes are ones that I have just accepted as being top 10 picks but haven't seen enough of them to see why. Josh Simpson has a better highlights reel for example so there MUST be more to it...I just get the feeling one of them will slip.

All grown up
Jaksch had been groomed as a defender for the Chargers earlier this year. And with his 195cm/87kg frame, he was one of few Metro players who could limit Hogan's influence. He did a good job of it, and Metro won easily.

Draft Prospect: Kristian Jaksch
All grown up

The first picture is just asking for trouble and the Oh hai! caption.

"Pose with the footy so we don't confuse you for someone else"

Jaksch's hands and wingspan look massive.

You know what that means.
