Opinion 2012 draft thread.

While there is some really class footballers in the draft that will go high, you have to envy the position Collingwood find themselves in having 3 late picks in the first round. They could conceivably get (just an example) Membrey, Simpson and Hrovat. That's a fair haul.

I'm like most others and have trolled the net watching a zillion kids. There's some diamonds in the rough to be had you just hope/wish the recruiting department see the same thing.

I would give my left $&@ to get Stringer. He will be the next big thing. But alas if he doesnt get past the Dogs (which I actually think he will as i dont think they can afford not to take pure mids with 5 & 6) I'm going for a roughie at #11. I want Jesse Lonergan from Tas. Can play inside mid like Judd or outside mid like Murph. Can go forward and take a mark or can run off a HBF. Is an absolute ball magnet with very good leg speed and pack breaking ability and like our resident Taswegian, Mitch, is tuff as nails. A succession plan for Judd IMO.

Then FWIW, I'd take Spencer White with #36. Not sold on Sammy Rowe and for what they're trying to achieve with Levi as a deep forward threat, I think White is a more natural forward, with dare I say it a little bit of Buddy about him. There is big kids and there is BIG kids. He runs straight and hard at the ball but unlike some
that have the turning circle of a Kenworth, he can lay off and link up before putting on the after burners. Sound familiar? Unless a gem falls by 15-20 spots, I'd take the chance. At #56 I'd go Jackson Thurlow, another two header. Really underrated this kid. Labelled as a tall HBF but I see
him as a 3rd forward that after a few seasons can develop into a midfielder. He and Lonergan are highly rated down south. At #71(?) I'd look at another indigenous lad to play outside and run like the wind. Garlett, Simpson and the like will be well gone, but Shannon Taylor in the AFL system with our 3 indigenous boys could be this years Prince Jeffy. Lightning quick and I mean lightning. And like most indigenous boys, has that lazy long raking kick to a target.

Dayle Garlett here we come!

Have to back the club, Malthouse and the brothers to get the best out of Garlett.

Dennis Armfield might crack the shits at Garlett joining Carlton...

It would be great to have another skilled player wearing the number two guernsey.

Garlett was my original choice - but after hearing mixed things about his demeanor away from football, Im pretty sure we won't be considering him.

Would love for him to be tearing it up for us in the #2 ... just breaking away from packs, hitting targets on the chest and dancing around opponents.

.... brb - need to get some tissues.

I'd be more confident of us signing Garlett had we landed McLeod as an assistant coach.

Tim Membrey - does any one have some footage. I have heard he is likened to Jack Darling, bigger bodied Flank possible midfield type.

I have been told we have assured him pick 11 if he gets that far..Any links to footage of him would be great

I know I'm only new but these kind of statements get up my kilt. We promise no-one nothing. And Membrey is not a Top 10 pick so to suggest if he lasts is fanciful. Seriously.

If Carlton select him with pick 11 or a club picks him before pick 11, I will leave BF.

Might want to get a new source.

I'm probably the biggest Membrey fan here and you are right that he's a good prospect but I'm almost certain he won't be getting drafted at or before 11.

So lets say we recruit Dayle Garlett with Pick 11, Spencer White with Pick 36 & Chris Yarran with our rookie pick. We could have the scenario where White marks the ball at FB, passes to Yarran, who spots up Garlett on the wing, who then honours White's lead at CHF. He quickly gives the ball off to Garlett running past, who sprints to the goal square & gives a cheeky handball over an opponent to Yarran in the goal square, who kicks a goal. In this passage of play we have had 6 possessions, yet White, Yarran & Garlett have only had 1 disposal each. I don't know about anyone else, but this conjures up visions of 'Who's on First'.

Will there be any players available at 11 who don't have any flaws and risks attached to their selection? :D

It is OK to ask for a stream?

You are Adrian Dodoro!

With Daniher locked and loaded, Dodoro slackened off and only showed up for the last quarter of his games.

Why would Army crack it? Have i missed something?

Can't get excited about Garlett...not so much the off-field stuff, just not that impressed (comparitively speaking) by the footage available.
