Hasn't Stringer been training with the Dogs? I had heard that and that they would most likely take him with probably pick 5 or 6
Seen it written on BigFooty, think it's Doggies fans taking 2 + 2 and coming up with 5.

Have you got some info, as I said I have been told. The friend who told me seems to get good info from somewhere and has generally been right on most ocassions, I would not call him a source he is just a mate.

No info. Just would be stunned if he was picked top 20 let alone 11. That's no knock on him I'm a fan but there is better out there.

So from all the media hype and fan discussion on BF it seems like the Blues will be looking at the best available/top 10 slider or the best available tall. Jaksch is the popular pick at #11 but for some reason I'm just not so hot on him right now. I personally think with Hendo, Waite, Hammer, Bolt and Mitchell we should be able to coast into the top 4 in 2013 then if all fails we can aim for a good KPF in next years FA period. I just don't think drafting another young key forward prospect will help us go to that next level whilst our flag window is open and whilst Judd, Scotto, Simmo and co. are still around...

Given KPP take around 2-3 years to start making any kind of impact (generally) I reckon we should overlook Jaksch, Membrey, Wood and co. in favour of an x-factor player or slider (Stringer, Macrae etc)

I reckon going for the best available mid prospect is the way we need to go. Would love love love Stringer or Vlastuin but would also happily swoop on a Mayes/O'Rourke if by some miracle they were still there at 11.

Do we know yet whether Kurt will be in the ND? In which case it'd be interesting to see if Brisbane forced GWS to take him at #3, which would increase the chances of the above happening (as opposed to him going at 12)...

Stringer would give the Blues as x-factor who is versatile and can come in and play R1 if need be.
Vlastuin is hard as nails and has the perfect attitude to make it at this level - could be the best player to come out of this draft 10 years down the track. Can see the fiery red-head as a 300-gamer for the Blues for sure.
Do not really want us to take a risk on Menzel (knees) or Garlett (attitude) but if Mick believes he can sort them out then it may be worth the punt.

Bring on the draft - 9 days is too long.

Agree with everything you said.
It is time we start planning for the post-Judd era. We have Robbo, murph, Gibbs, Bell etc so we need to keep adding for the future + some x factor for now.
I think we have recruited enough talls over the recent drafts. Haven't really drafted a mid since Lucas - we need to top up midfield to ensure we don't drop off.
Getting a membrey or jaksch won't really reap benefits for 2 or so years as talls take time to develop.
Casboult, Mitchell and McCarthy are all on the edge of breaking through (especially Casboult). Rowe is an unknown but could do anything next year. And who knows where Lachie will play next year.
Maybe if a tall drops to our second pick, but pick 11 should be an exciting mid like Stringer, Vlaustin, Menzel etc.
It is common thought that Stringer would be at least top 5 if it weren't for his leg injury - but from all accounts it has healed well and he has the ability to break games open. He could be a steal at pick 11 if he reaches his potential.

Tippett's fate will be decided on the 19th when he faces the AFL commission. May be deregistered, although I'm not sure what that means with regards to him nominating for the drafts. Remember reading an article stating that he'd priced himself out of Brisbane's reach and it was down to GWS and Sydney, but am too lazy to hunt down the link.

Just the readily available stuff, not exhaustive by any means. A powerful long bomb but seems to lack finesse by foot...just comes across as a poor mans Yarran in most regards.
Not having a go at you mate but it sounds like you haven't seen him play. Was a class above the opposition this year, his attitude could well see him drop but that's the only thing.

Who are you hoping for us today, Sin?
I'm looking forward for this draft to be over now, as along with C4, I'm finding reasons for wanting a new player each day.

For some reason Macrae is now reminding me of Melksham and I've cooled on him.
Mayes and O'Rourke are telling me their a little bit soft (of course this may well not be the case, but just getting that feeling)
Kennedy looks lively but is his game limited?

Stringer may have Figjam issues, but just liking what he may bring to us yet on the other hand I just want a solid footballer with a great attitude. Vlaustin?

Decisions, decisions........
Best available Harks. I probably see things differently to our recruiters so it doesn't really matter but I don't think we can go wrong with this pick, plenty of good options. It's our second pick that I really hope we can get a star with as well.

Macrae is more like Steve Johnson than Melksham.

Mayes isn't soft, but isn't yet a full time mid and will take a bit more time to get there but when he does he will be terrific. No questions about his hardness at all.

Kennedy's game is limited to hard running, high amounts of ball winning, bursts of speed, kicking long goals and a good blend of inside and outside play :p

Vlastuin I like, he's a Mitch Robinson type valuable addition to whichever team gets him.

And you would be right...my annual research is limited to the odd youtube video in the days leading up to the draft. Genuinely NFI.

I see him as more physcial than Yarran, which to be fair isn't hard to match but don't see the finesse in his game. Plus we have x factor in spades...I just want a solid citizen at 11.

My hopes for the draft:
Pick 11 - Best available mid with x factor (Possibly take Vlastuin to take on Scotlands role if available?)
Pick 36 - Best available mid (Adam Carter, Hrovat, Laine Wilkins?)
Pick 56 - KPD (Maybe Rodda?)

Yeah solid citizens are good, and I certainly liked the physical players you were suggesting in your post a few pages back. Guys like Membrey and Vlastuin can always be relied on to bust a gut for the team. Garlett is different though, his talent is too good to ignore.

If you wanted to watch a bit more of them, see how productive they are in actual games the last two rounds of the national championships are on the AFL website in their video section.

Dayle Garlett
Tim O'Brien
Sean Lynch
Tom Temay

Hope we don't overlook Jacobs if he's available at pick 36. Clubs owe unproven players nothing.

I'd back us to turn Garlett into a player with Betts, Yarran and Jeffy showing him the way. We haven't hesitated to pick interstate players for fear of losing them down the track.

Would be a dream outcome.

Watch for Garlett to fall to Hawthorn and become a gun.

After doing a bit of poking around, I'm a fan of Garletts. Could be the X-Factor Blues need and could be a good sub for 2013. Under the tutelage of Eddie and his cousin Jeff, he could flourish and become more grounded in a new environment out of WA.

Why stop at 2? Cruze is available. ;)

I think Cruize would be overkill and give Timmy and co a headache calling Blues' games but could I see two Garletts in Navy Blue? Absolutely!

Also - he wore No. 2 on his back for WA this year. Could slot straight into the No. 2 Guernsey for the Bluebaggers in 2013. Really warming to this idea.

I just hope whoever we pick they're not a KPP - really think it's not the right way to go. If Grundy somehow fell to #11 as someone suggested earlier... well that would be the only exception.

I dont want us to burn either first or second rounders on KPP, but am open to using 3 or 4 on a KPD or KPF. Think our defensive stocks arent as sufficient as our forwards.

I agree with this, one more developing KPD would be handy
