Ripe pickings
AFL.COM.AU reporters cast their eyes over the nation to reveal the next Michael Barlow or Ian Callinan, mature-aged players ready to step straight into the big time.

Khan Haretuku (Frankston): The 199cm and 101kg key forward first picked up a football at 15, after which St Kilda picked him up as a NSW scholarship player. At Frankston he's taken time to develop, but his strong work ethic has served him well. Now 22, he's a strong-marking player with a thumping kick.
Ripe pickings

We should pick this mature age KPP ahead of the other Murdoch.

Sorry, left off "not injury prone."
No in all seriousness he looks like an awesome player if he can get back to where he was. Does he have the inside game though? I thought the mail was he was mostly outside.

Nope Stringer is definately one of the best inside mids not outside. Has a great overall game with the ability to play forward and kick goals. Has almost the most talent out of all the draftees just depends on whether he can get back to that form before his injury. He could be the Darling of his year, considered a top 3 draft pick the year before but injury during year (+darling attitude aswel) made him slide to 2nd round

OK wow. What's his size? It sounds like he is actually fulfilling my over-the-top, ridiculous draft requirements.

Sounds a bit like Stringer
I was actually looking for a Kouta-style inside mid with Judd's acceleration, and Big Nick's loyalty. We really need him to have Ablett Senior's aerial skills and Dew's kicking to have an impact, while Cyril's media-lovechild status wouldn't hurt either.

Be handy if he could fly and shoot lasers as well.

Andy Collins?

A personal favourite of mine, bit of Carrazzo in the way he plays but at only 174cm his height will count against him.

I like what I see from this kid.

Looks like a more polished version of Ellard, besides it's always good to be able to have a good Northern suburbs boy on our list.

All I want is a 190-193 centimeter powerful and ridiculously courageous inside mid who has pace to burn and a thumping kick with the acceleration and agility to beat most outside mids. Needs to have a good leap and a powerful contested grab so can swing forward if needed.

Is that too much to ask for?

Wouldnt mind Adam Treloar from GWS, Inside Mid with pace and can kick goals, well i can wish cant i..

You would Love - JAKE STRINGER

This is what I hear. I don't really do fantasy drafts, but if he can regain his speed, sounds like he would have a good career ahead of him. It could be a similar story to Selwood, with injury scaring some clubs away.
There seem to be a few good'uns around this year.

I would love this kid ar the Tigers - Injury was last year (early) has come back pretty good but no pre season and fitness issues due to leg, good pre season in an AFL club will fix all the issues.

Broken legs are a problem but usuall can tell in the 1st 6 month if the are over them , with Nathan Brown he always had ''HOT SPOT'' problems

Stringer seems to be ok and with anothe 3-4 months and draft combine to come, should be top 10

Somebody on here, whom I have forgotten, suggested he was still a while away from regaining his speed. Out of interest, what kind of player would you envisage the Tigers are after?

Looks as though we are looking at Troy Chaplin & Jordan Russell as free agency signings for the 2013 season which wont cost us any draft picks.
So i believe we will be looking at mainly midfielders & midfielders that can play foward similar types to ROK,SJ,CHAPPY etc . and possibly a developing ruckman would also be on the shopping list i would imagine
1st pick will be best available no doubt,

Fair enough. Any team would take a ROK, SJ or Chappy given half a chance.

He looks like a nice polished little player with a bit of time and space (as you said, Carrots like).

He is short, however it's the same height as Jarryd Blair from the Colliwobbles who goes okay... though I guess it's always a gamble. That kid does look fairly light framed.

Might be getting my facts wrong but I am seriously struggling to remember the last time we had a Rising Star nomination, let alone a winner. Am hoping that this year we find a real gem in what has been dubbed the "draft of all drafts". Could do with a young, quality inside mid. Wines is looking the goods, although that could be wishful thinking

Yazz got nominated Round 1 against the Tigers in 2010 I think

Robbo was robbed of a nomination that same year.
