Yep. SANFL or WAFL.
Thornton, Russell and Bower could not get a game in an injury ravaged team that finished in the bottom half of the ladder. They are unwanted spuds in 2012. Ratten's inability to get a job in 2013 should tell people that supporters often have an overly high opinion of their players and coaches.
So let me get this right. Thornton, Russell & Bower are spuds. Other posters have added the likes of Davies, McLean (earlier in the season), Hampson, Warnock, Curnow to this list & Waite, Jamison, Laidler, Casboult, Henderson etc are injury prone. Looking at this from the point of view of a reasonable person, it could be suggested that Ratts was coaching with one hand tied behind his back.

Given there are obviously no spuds on the Hawthorn, Sydney, Collingwood, Geelong playing lists, Ratts was always at a disadvantage compared to Clarkson, Roos/Longmire, Malthouse/Buckley or Thompson/Scott, with the number of spuds on our list. This begs the question, with so many spuds on our list, would any coach have done better than Ratts? Will our list be suddenly spud-free because Ratts is no longer coaching us?

Supporter ranting shows why you're sitting in the stand with coterie try hards, armchair recruiters, the Save Fevola group and unofficial selection committees.

We need to find a Nick Smith. ;)

The ultimate failures of Stephen Browne and Joe Anderson have really hurt us in the small lock-down defender department. Would love for us to target this type of player with pick 33, hopefully with a bigger-bodied kid who might even break into the senior team in 2013...

I think we have two choices with our first pick (which I think is pick 9??? or is it 10 given Melbourne's activated priority pick?) We either gun for a gun KPP to play up forward and try and get a 10 year player out of it. Alternatively, we just take a gun mid and hope to get a player like a Joel Selwood who can come in and help us win a flag in 2013. Trade month will be intriguing. Koby Stevens could be a nice pick-up if we can get him for a decent price. Not sure what's happing with Scott Gumbleton either. So who do we think would be good viable options for our first pick?

More than not happy.

We spotted his, courted him, kept in touch with him and his family, then he's off to another club.

Want to know what went wrong. Just not good enough when we did indeed want him.

May have something to do with the fact they are playing in a grand final

This isn't the first time Hawks have done this.... Isaac Smith comes to mind.

Anyway, there is another

Just more evidence of the Hawks making the blues look like a second rate club. When will the blues ever become better than the hakws?

He is obviously coming over for a paid holiday. Won't even get close to playing AFL for Hawks and won't have a fellow countryman to look up to or help him settle.

Still It would be good to know if we did offer him a contract or not and if we did why he didn't choose us.

Well hang on, the news article said something about only being allowed one international rookie. If we are getting the other guy, we can't have them both. Perhaps the club has made their choice, so Hawthorn swooped on the leftovers.

I can hope.
