I just heard it as a standard line meaning we need to take three players.
He'd have little idea what may be on offer for us through the trade period as there may be very few guarantees just yet.

I doubt we would have closed the door on any trading (for players or picks/improvement of picks) just yet.

Absolutely it wouldn't be finalised, however to me it sounded like our current planning was to take 3, rather than just saying we'll take 3 each year.
But who knows.

With Chris Dawes telling Figjam where to go the other day, I honestly think he would be worth a look? He seemed to play well under Malthouse, is only 24 & has plenty of upside ( he can't play much worse that this year!) I think a big body in there will free up guys like Waite, Walker, etc. I know it is irrelevant, but he is also the only Collingwood player who I actually like in the media! He comes across as a person of great character, appears very smart & not cocky like all the other Collingwood knobs. The only downside would be having to trade with Eddie McFathead! Whaddya reckon?

I think Dawes can be a pretty good player. Before last season, Collingwood fans were all over him, talking about him and Cloke as this unstoppable Twin Towers. I don't know what went wrong this year, but as you said, he plays well under Malthouse. I wouldn't be against going after him if the cost is cheap, but I don't see him as a necessity. As I have said before, I am fine with pumping games into Casboult, Mitchell and Hampson as our three big forwards.

no chance we give them a ruck for dawes, but would take dawes if we only had to part with some average pieces.

bit un fair on dawes, was made to play ruck which he clearly cannot do. as a full time forward he is worth more than just a look.

Waite has a couple more years left of his career so long as his body holds up. Hampson would have to used as our #2 ruck/forward pocket this year standing alongside Casboult while we seriously pump games into these guys.

So using the theory that we will get at most about 14 games out of Waite per year, we can use those remaining 8 games per year to get games into Rowe and Mitchell. But honestly, I would leave Mitchell in the reserves for 2013 and let him build up a fitness base there and then in 2014 play Waite for 11 games and Mitchell for 11 games.

If we got Dawes, we would be robbing Peter to pay Paul in developing our young kids.

However, there seem to be some people out there who are stuck in the 'Got to buy the best to get success' and are grasping at any straw that comes along no matter what the cost.

Lets develop our own for the next couple of years and see what happens.

Dawes is an OK footballer, nothing more. I wouldn't say no if the price was right but I just can't see it happening. Pies would ask for the world and a sweetener in an exchange. Would rather not deal with those idiots if we can avoid it.

Laughable to bring Warnock into trade discussions including Dawes. Collingwood wouldn't part with the necessary extras to entice Carlton to the table.

Because they are the filth and we dont hand them something that could possibly give those w***ers another premiership...

damned straight, they would be offering a 4th or 5th round pick for Warnock and would be telling us that we are getting a bargain out of the deal.

Remember what they came to the table with for Fev?

Andrew Boston for our pick 33?

Scored 30/30 for the goalkicking draft combine today. Is a GC zone selection, so we can trade a pick pre-draft.

Broadbeach 18 180 cm 75 kg
Kevin Sheehan says: “Medium midfielder who excelled in the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships for QLD, averaging 18.2 disposals at 70% and winning All Australian honours. Clean hands and neat disposal skills are features of his game.”

31. Richmond - Andrew Boston (180cm midfielder - Broadbeach)

If they didn't already have issues with list size, I doubt the Gold Coast would hesitate in signing Boston as a zone selection. He'd be the best midfielder to come out of Queensland this year, and would be a great fit for them. He has a strong body after playing in the seniors for two years, and is a real leader on the field. But he also some flair to his game, both in terms of skills and an ability to go forward. Looks to be a very well rounded player, and would probably be more appreciated if he played for a Division 1 team. AFL Comparison: Shaun Grigg.
63. GC - Andrew Boston (182cm midfielder/forward)

one of the best small forwards in the NEAFL, consistently kicks bags of 3. Gets high possessions for a guy who usually only plays small forwards. He is right under GC's nose and I think he could possibly go as a zone selection. Is very strong overhead and loves to contest the footy. With a few pre-seasons under his belt he could well move up into the midfield and provide a bit of outside run.

In case anyone is interested, Jarryd Cachia, one of our former Rookies (best known for smashing Ben Nason), is a pretty good chance to get picked up again this year. Had a great year in the SANFL.
Maybe we can pick him up again with our third pick in the ND... I like how he goes about it (and smashing Nason was awesome :))

I was a tad disappointed when we let him go. Good fella, deserves a second crack at it.

Did we sneakily keep Mitch Carter to lure his brother Adam over with our second or third pick?

Could be that small defender with good skills and lock down abilities we're looking for (I still love you Tuohy).

Wouldn't mind Saad or Colquhoun either.

Racist!

It would be nice if we get the chance to draft a player without a history of shocking injuries.
