Did we sneakily keep Mitch Carter to lure his brother Adam over with our second or third pick?

Could be that small defender with good skills and lock down abilities we're looking for (I still love you Tuohy).
I've hinted about that one a few times too :p

If we fail to lure caddy over with our pick 11, no big lose.
stringer will be better pick up for us anyways

Rumour is Viney will slip. :(

In the top half dozen in this draft but not worth the bad blood of the expansion clubs nominating him and having Melbourne call their bluff.

Don't want to bash a teenager, but the stories regarding Garlett's character scare me. Looks a bit of a lad. If we pick him, then I trust our recruiters in that he'll be another Yarran and not another Collard. Garlett has a manchild build like Yazz that could stand up in the midfield. Would be jizz worthy to have Yarran on the opposite wing to Dayle Garlett with Walker, Betts and Jeffy forward.

Garlett seeks a better state
These are days when ''character'' matters to recruiters as much as other qualities. Garlett was kicked out of the AIS-AFL Academy at the end of last year and, after moving out of home, had issues with off-field discipline. He knows he heads the list of players clubs want to find out more about and he's trying hard to do something genuine about it.

''What doesn't kill me makes me stronger,'' said Garlett of his removal from the AIS program. ''That set me to work harder through the preseason and I think it's gone well.''

Garlett has moved back home, he now has a girlfriend and he has started working for the David Wirrpanda Foundation, spending time in schoolrooms with kids. He has been hitting the gym five times a week and, as part of the Swan Districts senior team, trying to work on his chasing and tackling.

''Probably the time when I moved out of home wasn't a good time for me, but once I moved back in at home I got everything sorted, got back on track and it's been good since then,'' Garlett said.

''I did make some mistakes. That just makes me want to work harder to get to where I want to be.

''The recruiters ask me, how's my outside life doing - if I've picked it up a notch. I've given them a good result just by doing that well.

''I've been told by friends, family, coaches that it would be better if I go over east, and I think it would be good for me, so I could knuckle down and get the job done".

Garlett seeks a better state

Garlett could blossom like Yarran if he gets out of WA and lands at Princes Park.

Eyes on Sam
South Australian under-18 coach Brenton Phillips said Colquhoun has a rare sense of knowing, at all times, where the football is heading.

"His ability to be one and two steps in front of the contest and read it and get to the next play is quite amazing," Phillips told AFL.com.au.

Central Districts is renowned for its one-on-one brand of football, but Phillips rang Colquhoun's reserves coach before the under-18 championships with the specific role for him to be the "drop off" player.

Importantly, Phillips said Colquhoun has successfully reverted back to the Bulldogs' accountable style of football during the SANFL finals series.

If he's around at #33 which some Mock Drafts have him, i'd not be opposed to getting him
Probably in the feast or famine zone for Carlton. Too high for 33. Not good enough for 11. We'd need to get a Warnock suitor get that sort of pick.

Like that Colquhuon reportedly switched from attacking to defending when he want back to the SANFL.

Coachable?

There's a board called the Phantom Draft board, take a wander round, you can get a decent idea

Shit Richmond are getting Daniher with #9 ??? What a pick up !!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. GWS - Whitfield (mid)
2. GCS - Toumpas (mid)
3. MEL - Macrae (mid/fwd)
4. MEL - O'Rourke (mid)
5. WB - Grundy (ruck)
6. WB - Plowman (KPD)
7. PA - Mayes (fwd/mid)
8. BRI - Garner (fwd/mid)
9. RICH - Wines (mid)
10. ESS - Daniher (kpf/ruck)
11. CARL - Stringer or Garlett

Rough guess for this point in time. I think the Bulldogs will get their ruck and KPD replacements with their picks this year. Melbourne will attempt to draft a midfield (Viney in the second round), Port will go with the SA boy Mayes, Brisbane drafting Garner/Wines, Richmond the other, Essendon obviously get Daniher leaving Stringer or Garlett for the Blues.

It's official Melbourne get Viney at 26, huge win for them.
Wonder if this will bring Jaksch into the market for Carlton.

3. Melbourne - Toumpas
4. Melbourne - Wines
5. Western Bulldogs - Macrae
6. Western Bulldogs - Mayes
7. Port Adelaide - O'Rourke
8. Brisbane Lions - Plowman/mid/??????
9. Richmond - Garlett/Kennedy/????
10. Essendon - Joe Daniher
11. Carlton J- aksch

I'm suddenly more interested in taking a KPP with 11 and an inside mid with 33. I expect us to move back up the ladder, so this might be a good time to pick a KPP with an early pick. It could be our earliest pick for some time if our list develops like we expect it to. Don't expect to see Stringer or Menzel in Carlton colours after we overlooked Luke Mitchell twice.

Sure is.

What's your reading of the proposed "super trade" Sin? Do you believe its for real?
Not even close. All that talk came about because the draft last year was so weak that the bottom age players playing against them were standing out. It's also been diluted by the mini draft last year, father-sons and injuries to two of the best talents. It's still a good draft with some very good top end talent but doesn't bat as deep as 2010 in my opinion. We should be able to get a good player with our second round pick for sure.

Good stuff. I am pleased we seem set on keeping it. I've been trawling the highlight reels and I know Garlett has baggage but man he has some talent.
