so in the last two posts there have been the words pubescent and premature...... argh its just like my teenage years

Chalk, cheese
The nickname 'Tigger', in reference to A.A. Milne's character in Winnie the Pooh, was given to Vlastuin by his mother who identified that her child was "bouncing all over the place" ever since he had started to walk. When the Knights' talent managers caught the drift, the name stuck.

While Vlastuin (pronounced floss-tone) thrives on the congested situations so that he can use his body strength to bullock his way through traffic.

"If you line up on an opponent, you can think to yourself he probably didn't run on Christmas and New Year's day so you've got that mental edge on him," Vlastuin told AFL.com.au.

"It's just about knowing you've done the work."

"Tigger flattened me a couple of times and he showed me the standard of where I needed to be at," Haynes says.

Vlastuin says his and Haynes' relationship is fostered on keeping things competitive.

"I hate it when he beats me," Vlastuin says.

"Tigger ticks all the boxes in what we believe a competitive animal is," Grbac says.

"I keep saying this to recruiters, 'You take him to your club and every coach will fall in love with the way he plays footy.'"

GET FLOSSTONE!

"Good name"

"I think Heaven has sent you here, Nick Flosstone. I think the angels have blessed us all because of you."

Disturbing that Jack Horner looks a little like Mick.

Robinson, Bell and Vlastuin would make for some hard mids.

When did Fitzpatrick say that, TG?

Out of the Blue
In his foreword to the book, Carlton’s three-time premiership ruckman Mike Fitzpatrick best articulates what Out of the Blue actually set out to achieve.

Out of the Blue captures the essence of the Carlton Football Club. Underlying the stories of the dark Navy Blue, the great deeds, the brave men, the committed supporters and the political upheavals, is that indefinable concept of what it means to be ‘Carlton’,” Fitzpatrick writes.

“It is a state of mind, a system of belief, a way of seeing the world, a deep faith that, because you are Carlton, you belong to something great.”

Current status on our first couple of rounders from a couple of the more studious Phantom drafters on our boards.

Knightmare: #11 = Sam Colquhoun ......#36 Jason Pongracic

Chris25:.......#11 = Jackson Macrae ..... #36 Spencer White

From my limited understanding, I'd prefer getting Chris25's picks at this stage.

Knightmare seems to be changing his phantom a lot, in the last few weeks he had two KPP for us at pick 11, now it's a half back flanker, I'd say look at his phantom a week or two before the draft will be more accurate, well as accurate as phantom drafts go of course.
Last year Chris25 had a fair few kids that went at similar positions as his phantom draft.
Always a good read them phantom drafts :thumbsu:

I know and it's just a bit of fun in the meantime and I'm also sure those names will keep changing.

We still have Quigley to drop in his usual monster although he takes more chances and can be further off the mark than a couple of the others.

Just ignore a few of his Division 2 names here and there and it should be fine. Also I am sure Quigley spends less time changing his rankings based on late information from clubs.

A few of the other mock drafters will adjust their mocks based on information coming from the clubs.

Still not sure if Macrae will last until pick 11, then again, stranger things have happened.

Matty Richardson had a fair bit to say to his team mates iirc... but then again he did play for flogmond which is semi understandable...

ive seen an interview with him and i would have to say he handled himself fantactic.

Will be the next Pavlich without doubt.

you lost me at matty richardson, i don't understand how he relates to stringer...

Stringer trained with the Bulldogs for a week last year and they were very impressed... although, Im not sure if thatw as pre-injury or not.

I wouldn't be suprised to see him go at Pick #6

Pick #5 - Garlett
Pick #6 - Stringer/Plowman

This from the only poster who tipped Judd to Carlton mid-year. I'm a believer!

Stringer broke his leg at the start of last year I believe.

I think the doggies will jump on him. He reeks potential superstar and everyone knows that.

My personal sights are set on Jackson Macrae or Ben Kennedy. Although I have a soft spot for Floss-Tone

You heard it here first!

Hope the Dogs take both these players. :thumbsu:

I'm riding the Macrae, Jaksch and Flosstone bandwagons.

lets talk rookie pick guys, what i want to see is a really project player eg. not like bell or curnow or twomey.
really bells gonna be upgraded at the end of next year and i don't wan2 have to go thru the bell senario again.

so are we thinking project ruckman or mega skinny forward or a goal kicking mid who has a couple of unique tricks but lacks the overall package.

Bit early but my best guess is that we may go down the Tom Bell type left fielder.
Wouldn't be at all surprised should a 20-21 year old be picked here, as the one year on the list will tell us whether we have something to work with or not.

as in one year in the vfl, because for all intents and purposes bell is nominated rookie and hopefully get 22 games out of him.

Not sure Kennedy fufills a need at all for us, he is only 174cm mid, so unless he is a absolute standout l would think the Blues will look to other options, we need to look at best available but also be mindful of where our list is at, not sure a very small mid is a need at all for our list.

How many small, pacy mids with a booming kick do we have?

You don't use pick 11 to fill a need. Leave that for later in the draft. Pick the best available, and if that's Kennedy then so be it.

Our midfield doesn't bat deep enough to overlook quality.

A very small, hard at it, goal-kicking mid with an excellent game sense and a killer burst of speed.

Can play small forward early on, almost certainly to great effect, before rotating through the middle later in his career. Size is less relevant than his ability to extract and damage opposition.

As a general rule I find smaller guys who mix it with bigger bodies find the AFL transition easier because they've spent their entire careers being physically weaker and have learned to adapt to it through various methods.

Exactly Kennedy would be a great get. Yes hes only 174cm but then again on numerous occassions authoritative people have said if he was around 182cm he would be challenging whitfield, toumpas and wines as the best player in this draft.

Hes hard at it, great kick and has an excellent burst of speed plus he kicks goals!

Who knows Kennedy could end up being a superstar 300+ gamer like a boomer harvey

Rory's story
Recruiters like his ability to shift forward and make an impact on the scoreboard (he kicked 12 goals in 15 games for the Cannons this year.)

Downside: There's some questions on his defensive running and work-rate, something Atkins acknowledges needs work. But he's improving that. He's not especially quick (his best time for the 20m sprint at the draft combine was 3.06 seconds), but he makes up for it with smarts and an uncanny ability to get around opponents.

Dayle double
In his own words: "I understand why [my dismissal from the AIS] happened and it made me want to fight for my footy even harder. I really wanted to let everybody know that I was going to change. I'm doing much better now. I think I'm more switched on, which is good. I reckon I have been able to show recruiters that I'm a better person on the field and off it."
