Can someone please explain to me why we would delist and then redraft Collins? We already had the necessary 3 live picks.

So why would we "hope to get him in the PSD" when we delisted him like that?

Apologies if this has already been covered and I missed it.

It looks like they may rookie list him, which would mean he's not taking up a spot on our list, which (correct me if i'm wrong) gives us the chance to pick up 4 picks in the ND...

Also have heard Mick isn't the biggest fan of Collins too, which may've contributed.

Mick put an emphasis on having players who do not shirk away from the contest. I can bet that Mick watched the Carlton vs Collingwood game late in the season and i remember on 2 occasions there, the ball was there to be won and collins didnt go in hard enough. I remember this because i was recieving msg's from my mates who are richmond supporters telling me how they screwed us in the deal

Thought this might be the case C4 as I can't see us taking 4 live picks in the ND (assuming that 71 will be used to u/g Curnow to primary list).

Would love to see club take Toy or even give Surjan a chance. They've been quiet, had their time to bide - but they can't let the chance slip to pick someone of Toy's caliber for absolutely nothing. Can't believe someone hasn't already picked him up tbh...

Okay maybe that's a bit harsh - but definitely don't need someone of his character (or Fev's tbh) around the club.

Would LOOOOVVVVE to pick up Toy but can just as easily see McKay and co. sittin on their hands again.

So if several clubs want Toy, is it now up to him where he goes? Sorry if this is a silly question, given that he is defined as a free agent, but given that there are restricted and unrestricted categories here, as well as delisted, and the size of contracts seems to factor in to where they can go, I am more than a little confused.

From what I understand, yes.

He's free to make a decision as to who he wants to join.

If he's happy with the terms of the contract, and they have the space on their list, thats all it is, from what I've been told.

I do not understand it either? I think maybe its he's delisted, however if we do not see anyone who we rate in the draft available at our last pick we will pick him up again? or mayb just so we can rookie him

This is my take: players are on notice.

He obviously has 3 weeks to prove to Mick that he should be kept on the list.

If he does, we re-list him if possible - but we're obviously prepared to lose him if another club want him more.

If he doesn't, then we get an extra pick to unearth some talent.

And just as obviously, there would be more players joining him in this situation if their contracts were up.

Seems like pretty smart list management for a club that has just swept out their old coaching panel. Andy McKay knows what he's doing in this area at least.

Going hard at the contest seems a strange premise on which to base such a belief.

Really warming to this guy. Tough mid that would complement Juddy, Murph, Bell, McLean, Robinson and Curnow

Got to interview Vlastuin last week, really good guy. Unfortunately don't think we've got our eyes on him. I know Collingwood is certainly interested.

Considering there's so many variables, it's hard to say who we'll get, though I have heard Stringer, Jaksch and Macrae are the ones most likely with Stringer a possibility if Melbourne and Adelaide don't have picks and Tippett nominates for the National Draft. Hearing things left, right and centre about what we're doing - not all of them can be right (obviously).

It's funny that we seem to value players higher through the draft than we do through the trade period.

There was no one talking about handing over a top ten for Tippett a couple of weeks back, yet now a top ten is no problem.

Is it just because that pick isn't handed over to another club that seems to make things easier to let it go?

In a trade you lose something and they gain something for the player
In the draft you lose something and nobody else gains anything only you gain

Not sure Malthouse is in agreement with Rogers. Would not be surprised to see us pick up a wombat arsed midfielder.

Mick shouldn't have a say in who we pick as I think Rendell is probably on the money,but should be on the same page as Rogers on what type of team they want to assemble. I think that it will reweight the selection process of who is next best available. If a lightly built player like McCrae were to fall to 36 (not that it would happen) we would be wrapped to take him, but Mick has said he wants a bigger stronger team and that will influence the selection process.
