When do we expect a resolution to the Tippett ordeal?

Melbourne seem like they'll get away with a slap on the wrist...which I don't mind, not enough concrete evidence for such drastic punishments.

There's a counterargument against penalising Melbourne heavily. If that happens, they'll have the next few #1 picks and it'll be because they'll genuinely become the worst side in the comp.

Then again, there's no Joe Gutnick on the horizon and the Melbourne Cricket Club will grow tired of subsidizing them. Could be part of Demetriou's evil plan to relocate a side to Hobart?

Pick Me: Tom Temay could be the next Heath Shaw
Broadening his appeal, Temay also illustrated the defensive side of his game in run-with roles on No. 1 pick Lachie Whitefield and WA star, Dayle Garlett.

"I provide run and carry, that hard work through midfield and the back line,'' he said.

"But I also like to help teammates out a lot and do the one per centers.

"I actually really enjoyed the task on Whitfield, it was something I was very excited about.

"If playing a role like that is going to reward my ream, I'm always up for the challenge.''

This draft has the best names.

Probably took them less than 5 minutes to make a decision on our penalties.

Wish it was a bad dream Harks.
With Evans and Jackson presiding over the commission... I bet it was all they could do not to deregister the club as an AFL club...

He is still trying to convince Norf to move south and become the North Hobart Roos...

Just dont think that he would be able to swing it... but then again, didnt he offer them 100mill to relocate to the Gold Coast a couple of years back?

Trying to imagine a situation where we get Sam Mayes:

1. Whitfield
2. Toumpas
3. Grundy
4. Wines
5. Stringer
6. Plowman
7. Menzel
8. Jaksch
9. O'Rourke
10. Daniher
11. Mayes
It all works until Brisbane and Richmond. No way they would pass on Sam
You forgot Macrae who should go top ten...

1. Whitfield
2. Toumpas
3. Grundy
4. Wines
5. Stringer
6. O'Rourke
7. Menzel
8. Macrae
9. Vlastuin
10. Daniher
11. Mayes
12. Plowman
13. Kennedy

Done. :thumbsu:

Griffen, O'Rourke, Dahlhaus, Higgins and Stringer might complement the likes of Boyd, Cross, Liberatore, Smith, Wallis and Hunter.

Wonder if the Giants released Hombsch because they think Plowman could slide.

Richmond could do with Plowman. Shame they're naive enough to back in Rance, Griffiths, Chaplin and Grimes as their long term tall defenders. They must have missed Lucas outbodying Grimes in a one on one contest in round one.

I hope we pass on Kennedy. Some posters have said he refused to talk to Melbourne clubs a while back because he wanted to stay in Adelaide. (Good luck getting to the Crows) He interviewed poorly and these days it's very much about the quality of the person. They also said he was a selfish player who didn't do the team things.
I don't think it's worth risking Pick 11 on someone with a bad attitude that may well get homesick.

With the way that they draft you could hand them the top ten picks in the draft for five years and three quarters of them will be delisted or traded for trash within three years of being drafted.

I think it came out on the day of the draft last year, being the 24th. November.

Most of the better phantoms only surface in the last few days prior to the draft itself. Sort of makes it all a little easier when you factor in all the rumours.

Cheers Harks. Will be interesting to see what she thinks. Usually is on the money when it comes to the first round.

I am really hoping that Macrae, O'Rourke, Wines or Mayes slides and we take one. Stringer or Jaksch would also be nice.

Just noticed that Knightmare has Kamdyn McIntosh going to Geelong at pick 16. Close checking defender like Alex Johnson. Would love if he fell to our 2nd pick. We need one of them

#16 Geelong – Kamdyn McIntosh (WA – Def/KPD)
Height: 192cm, Weight: 78kg, DOB: 03/04/1994
Recruited from: Peel Thunder
Style:
Player comparison: Alex Johnson
Range: 20-50
Profile: McIntosh is a close checking, disciplined defender who can play on all sizes whether it be tall, medium or small forwards to a high level. He finished the season really strongly and showed strong progress in his offensive game in the second half of the season showing an increased willingness to shift off his man and generate some drive. Ball use out of the back half is a highlight and for a tall uses it really well. Also has really impressive closing speed and above average athleticism allowing him to stick with his man. Has excellent endurance and can go all day. Just one of those guys you can give a role to and he will complete it, no fuss and get the job done. Sometimes with defenders that’s all you need. Also late in the season showed some ability to push up onto a wing and play some good footy showing that he has a few different strings to his bow.

Thanks Knightmare :thumbsu:

When it comes to medium-sized defenders, I think we're quite well off. Laidler, McInnes, White are all capable of playing senior football, however admittedly they have all recently suffered injuries.

Not to mention Bootsma who we recruited last draft.

I think we're probably better off looking for a small defender capable of pushing through the middle of the ground. AJ tries hard but he's certainly not the answer.

Gut says there's a chance that we could get a slider. Lucas wasn't supposed to get through to pick 11 ( :)) three years ago. I wouldn't be shocked if someone like Mayes slides after a side goes tall or takes a chance on Garlett. I would be happier with Mayes than Kennedy. Kennedy and half of the SA U18 side look like they'll be appearing in the Hobbit. God they're small.

I'm worried about Stringer and Menzel due to their injuries, but without seeing the medicals, I would rather we take a chance on the player who suffered an unfortunate and freak injury. As long as Stringer checks out OK and has the right character, it's hard to see him doing it again. I'd still be worried, but the pay off might be there. o_O

I feel that Vlatsuin may just be the player we want even if he doesn't have the speed that Rogers may be after.

I thought we'd reneged on drafting 'athletes'? Top priority is a footballer's footballer - someone who can find the footy, kick the footy, mark the footy and isn't afraid of a physical contest.

Here's the top 20 from Inside Footy, via the drafts and trading board.

1. GWS - Lachie Whitfield
2. GWS - Jimmy Toumpas
3. GWS - Jonathan O'Rourke
4. Melbourne - Oliver Wines
5. Western Bulldogs - Jackson Macrae
6. Western Bulldogs - Troy Menzel
7. Port Adelaide - Brodie Grundy
8. Brisbane - Lachie Plowman
9. Richmond - Nick Vlatsuin
10. Essendon - Joe Daniher
11. Carlton - Kristian Jacksch
12. GWS - Tom Clurey
13. Gold Coast - Sam Mayes
14. GWS - Jake Stringer
15. North Melbourne - Ben Kennedy
16. Geelong - Jesse Lonergan
17. Fremantle - Mason Shaw
18. Collingwood - Josh Simpson
19. Collingwood - Taylor Garner
20. Adelaide - Dayle Garlett
21. Collingwood - Sam Colquhoun
22. Western Bulldogs - Tim Membrey
23. Sydney - Tanner Smith
24. Brisbane - Matthew Haynes

Find it very hard to believe that we would take Jacksh over Mayes or Stringer.

And also Menzel at 6 seems like reaching by the Dogs, given his robot knee.
