Even Barry Prendergast could have told you that.

Emma Quayle seems to think we want Macrae the most and would lookat Jaksch too if he slips, same with Mayes.
Of those likely to be available she listed Hrovat, Lonergan, Kennedy and said we weren't too interested in Stringer. No mention of Vlastuin.
Was a bit suprised that we werent looking into stringer and menzel if they were to be available at our pick
I agree with Jake Stringer at first pick 100% and Spencer White is the key tall we should target, have a look at his youtube display. The other thing Stephen Kernahan being from Glenelg should tell the recruiters to consider taking man mountain Ethan Gill as a late pick or rookie below. Ethan Gill is 17 turns 18 December 31. He came to Glenelg from the country late so didn't have a proper pre season. He plays his footy like a 24 year old strong and hard at it, still needs to get a bit of speed in the legs, which he will - Brenton Hole Glenelg Talent manager quoted on Inside Football. He is 194cm and 94 kilo.Have an opinion, but this post helps me out a bit.
Stringer had a poor running gait because of fatigue on the leg. Having said that, he kicked 10 goals in his first game back from the injury at TAC level. Going back to the original point though, experts quoted in the Herald Sun suggest that the gait and injury could be managed and fixed in about 3 months. Id be happy to take Stringer and give him a year to recoup. Its a broken bone with a bit of muscle deterioration as a result, it will heal with medical intervention and can be made stronger if required. Its not like a knee, or shoulder or hip, where they are joints, this is purely skeletal. I have confidence he will be fine and the talent he possesses cannot be overlooked if he is available. He fills a number of holes as a player.
Doubt we take a primary big with the first pick as we do need successions for Judd and Carrazzo etc. Could see a big selected in the 2nd or 3rd though and also a run and carry player late, unless they chose to take the chance on Reimers. As for the 1st, I would like a Juddesque type and to me that aint Kennedy. Great little player sure, but we have greater needs IMO. Toumpas, Wines and ORourke will be gone, so I see Lonergan as the next best. I know Im pushing this barrow a bit, but if we dont take the quintessential with Stringer, a hard in and under player should be our next option and this kid is all that plus some.
Stringer (Lonergan)
White
Thurlow
Taylor
Rookie - Ruckman who can play and develop in the Ants.. (Like Sammy Jacobs)

Ideally, thats the sort of age spread we should have anyway. Scotland will probably retire at the end of next season. Waite could end up retiring because his body might not stand the rigors of playing a full season of football after next season. Then we will have a couple of guys around the 30 mark and then larger groups working their way down to the bottom aged group. And we should always have a good collection of guys in the mid-ranged age group around the 26-27 year old mark.Although I think both would be good picks if the club is prioritizing longevity I can hardly blame them.
This draft will be the last or so of a hardcore of player we'd want for a second wave push post-Judd.
In 2015 we could be without Carazzo (32), Judd (32), Simpson(31), Waite(32), Duigan (31), Scotland(35).
But we'd still have:
Mclean, Walker, Jamison, Betts, Armfield at 29
Warnock, Murphy and Rowe at 28
Hampson, White and (hypothetically) Collins at 27
Ellard, Kreuzer, Gibbs, Robinson, Joseph, Garlett, Laidler, Curnow, Tuohy, Henderson at 26
Casboult, O'Keefe and Yarran at 25
Davies and Lucas at 24
Mitchell, McCarthy, McInnes, Watson and Bootsma at 23
Buckley at 22
and this year's crop at 21.

All looks good except why on earth would we pick up Reimers at #56?
Why not use #76 if we really have to.
The pigeons are going to hate that cat.Board. How would we feel about Menzel if he slid to 11?
he appears to have enormous talent. if the club are confident re his injury why wouldn't you take aBoard. How would we feel about Menzel if he slid to 11?
From where I sit it's a no but I'd back our recruiters in, they have access to all the information they need. Where I have him ranked is in a large part due to my concerns about the LARS, on talent alone he's easily top seven.Board. How would we feel about Menzel if he slid to 11?

do we believe he will be available at our pick?
Ahh none. I would have thought a HIGHLIGHT reel would show me his best actions/attributes. You like him Chief, that's great, good for you. I don't, it's a forum of armchair experts, so be it. Did you pick Bootsma last year??? Didn't think so.

The player our recruiters want....the player we want! Or the player you want? I'd like Lonergan if Stringer is gone myself.
Carlton could look instead for onballers Nathan Hrovat and Jesse Lonergan, versatile Taylor Garner or the zip of Ben Kennedy. Jake Stringer could fall around that mark, though they haven't invested much time in him.
Would not be disappointed but he isn't going to slot straight into our side and solve any kicking issues. To this end, I'd like to see how we go with what we've got (Interested in seeing how Rowe performs). Would prefer another inside Mid with pace and footskills. For this reason I'd like to think we could go for Lonegan as the kid has a real appetite for the ball, and according to both the Draft Combine the Emma Quayle article above, his footskills have improved out of site. Along with his burst pace and geuine hardness at the ball, I'd like to think he could be our next Judd.Board. How would we feel about Menzel if he slid to 11?

Jared Grant had a great highlight reel, but you had to look at the lowlight reel which the Dogs recruiters didn't bother watching.
No, a highlights reel is not a very good way judge a player.
