I wouldn't mind Jay Dee in a blue uniform right now (despiute the fact he's a tosser who never kicked me the footy in U12's!!!)
Why did WC pass on him for a Victorian and draft Gaff?

Not sure that Darling would have performed as well as if he had have landed at St Kilda or Melbourne.

If Garlett somehow slides through to our second pick we could honestly walk away from this draft and trade week and season with a Geelong esque amount of future talent.
Quite simply Dayle Garlett is the undoubted best midfielder out of WA this year
What he does have is skills, and tricks
What he doesn't have is attitude and fitness

Which one of those groups can we work on? Luckily for anyone who picks him up, the second.

Dayle Garlett at #36 is the definition of a steal, and we should take it.

Could you imagine Stringer/Menzel/Vlastuin/Macrae + Dayle Garlett to add to our young midifelders in Bell + O'Keefe + Lucas + Robinson
Surely there would be enough there to help Murphy + Gibbs out in the future.
Gartlett And Stringer would set us up check how good this Stringer guy is in the latest interview tough as nails with determination to show them all.

Strange situation - some have said he is out the door regardless, some have had a bet each way. Why would we have spent the money taking him to Arizona if we weren't committed to taking him back?

Would hope that we weren't needing to delist players to find $200K. We have just pushed a handful of senior players out the door and made no additions to the list.
He could and I hope we haven't got other guys on deals like this if they part of 80 so players could make 2013 onwards messy for players and cap.

"People kept saying to me, "What are you doing? You're limping, you can't walk properly, you can't run" And all i could say was, 'dude, i couldn't give a shit, i missed out on a whole year', "i know I'm fine, I know I'll be able to go to a club and do all the training and be able to play next year. I didn't even think about not playing. No way was i missing any more footy"

Damn i love this kid, almost bought a tear to my eye.

GET STRING!!!

Bizarre one tonight - take it for what it is worth - we've put in a call to the Tigs about Dan Connors

As in

"Hey Brendon how you doing, hey I was just wondering do you remember the name of that guy?"

"Which guy"

"You know he played for you..."

"ahhhh Matthew Richardson?"

"Nah the one you fired"

"Connors?"

"Yeah him, remind me not to draft him"

"**** you"

I would prefer we didn't pick up Connors, does not seem like the bloke you want hanging around your younger players.

Given we offloaded Fev in comparable circumstances I would think its unlikely we'd go near him.

Dawes, Clarke, Reimers, Connors, the list of spuds that are linked to us grows...

I miss those times when Kerr and O`Keefe were seemingly on the radar. Was never going to happen, but at least it never made me crawl under the table into the fetal position waiting for it to be over.

Additionally, the AFLPA would not look kindly on us/AFL for delisting a player who is contracted for 2013 (signed a 3 yr deal when traded http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/grigg-a-tiger-collins-a-blue-20101009-16d50.html) to meet AFL's crazy rule changes.
I think that the AFLPA would be after the AFL more than us if we have had to cut Collins because of the AFL's backflops on the Judd issue. If we are having to shuffle players/money around, I would hazard a guess that Collins would be picked up again albeit at a lower salary than he was on.

Although, I think that the AFL is going to have to reverse direction again after the hue and cry over Judds third party cancellation reaches a crescendo. At the very least, a lot of the other clubs are suddenly going to be demanding that things get sorted out really freaking quickly... and I am hoping that the same clubs start telling the AFL to get Eddie McChins to open up the wobblewood books and show us where the signed third party agreements are for the players who were appearing on TFS all the time.

Thrill of the game helps control Nick's hard edge
''I always liked the competitive side of the game, wrestling kids and roughing them up and getting roughed up,'' he said.

He was a hard, tough man, qualities Cecily suspects may have continued on to Nick who, as a footballer, works relentlessly, is resilient and never wants to lose. Curiously, his brother, Tim, joined the army earlier this year. ''I took him to the gym before army training and killed him,'' said Nick, smiling. ''I'm hoping that won't change too quickly. We'll see.''

Before long, the bigger kids wanted Nick in their team and since starting out he has been through the Eltham juniors to the Northern Knights and Metro. He was surprised when asked to be captain, and was almost immediately challenged, with the team unexpectedly dropping its first match to the Northern Territory.

''I love the contested side of the game, the contest, the stoppages and all the body-on-body stuff,'' he said. ''It's what I've always loved the most. I can't wait to see what it's like.''

I'm hoping for a classy slider like Mayes or Macrae, yet the thought of Vlastuin, Robinson, Kreuzer and Bell playing together is enough to make a man wet.

I have liked the idea of Vlastuin coming into our midfield. If he is as good as they say then in a couple of years, he will be playing the same role to Murphy as Murphy is playing to Judd.

Add in that he is as hard as a cats head then it is all good as well :)
