I think I'm in a sailing race rather than a draft thread, ive gone and changed tack again. Well almost.

Would love Stringer with #11, but if not, I want Sam Mayes. One thing I think we missed last season was a player like Ryan Houlihan in the forward half. Not a player that bombs away, but a bloke who takes on the tackler, lowers his eyes and hits up the forward target consistently, or can slot the goal on the run. Fev said he loved it when Houla got the pill as he knew he could lead whenever and get hit up everytime.
We thought that Collins would be the Houlihan replacement... we just have to wait and see what happens.

Pendlebury was a late bloomer and was actually a suprise 5th pick who showed potential to be a good player. McRae is see as very similar also coming from a Basketball background, he shows that ability to have time when there is none. I think he can very much become one of the best prospects out of this draft. He wasnt rated prior to this year but the way he has played this year shows he can continue to improve.

If anyone one has heard him on the footy field the bloke is by far the loudest on there, always screaming for the ball, shows he is extremely hungry and wants to will himself to each contest.

Any one of Stringer, Menzel and McRae i would be happy with. Moreso than a Vlaustin or Mayes

Doesn't look like that is happening
will have to see... if we decide that we are going to move Collins to the rookie list, then we need to upgrade one of Bell or Curnow.

i'm not worried anymore about our first rounder, i'm convinced we will pick a gun.
Now i'm chewing my nails hoping... ney praying that we will grab a 2nd round gem/slider.
i would also like to see travis tuck given a guernsey because from my pov he was the best of the vfl crop.

Maybe Tim Membrey or Spencer White if he's there - much prefer than Paparone as a forward. We can probably forget about Jacobs as Essendon will get him at this stage (plus his price is probably too high).

IMO a dream draft would be:

11. Jackson Macrae
36. Tim Membrey/Spencer White
56.Tim Temay
71. Travis Tuck

Rookie: Andy Collins

Macrae gives us a top midfield prospect with x-factor and some great footwork.
Membrey gives us a medium (may grow a few more cms) forward to release Tex into the middle and could come in straight away and make an impact ala JD in 2011.
Temay is a solid long term option to Carrazzo and an upgrade on Joseph, who I think will be delisted at the end of 2013 once his contract runs its course.
Tuck is definitely worth the pick up (if not as a rookie) and gives us immediate depth in the position that counts most.

Not sure if Collins deserves to be picked back up but at the least I think he should as a rookie.

Love this! One can only dream!!

I like it... if we can get Temay at 56, then it is a definite win for us and quite possibly a nail in the coffin of Joseph.

Dees to take Toumpas.
Seems Grundy may well fall out of the top 10, though you'd think that Port and Tigers (and probably Dogs as well) would be nuts to let him slide.

Word from twitter tonight from some pretty reliable sources is that Wines could possibly slide as far as us - as Dees will take Toumpas.
Grundy could slide as far as Geelong @ 16

If Wines does drop to our selection, I'm doing one of two things. A backflip or punching a hole in the wall.

The jungle (BF) drums are beating that O'Rourke and Plowman will go 2 and 3.
1. Whitfield
2. O'Rourke
3. Plowman
4. Toumpas
5. Mayes
6. Macrae
7. Wines
8. Jaksch
9. Grundy
11. Menzel
12. Simpson
13. Vlastuin
14. Kennedy

I would be happier with any of the following orders...

1. Whitfield
2. O'Rourke
3. Plowman
4. Toumpas
5. Grundy
6. Mayes
7. Menzel
8. Jaksch
9. Wines
11. Macrae

1. Whitfield
2. O'Rourke
3. Plowman
4. Toumpas
5. Menzel
6. Macrae
7. Wines
8. Jaksch
9. Grundy
11. Mayes

1. Whitfield
2. O'Rourke
3. Plowman
4. Toumpas
5. Mayes
6. Menzel
7. Grundy
8. Jaksch
9. Macrae
11. Wines

From info from pretty reliable/in the know people top 4 is:

1. Whitfield GWS
2. O'Rourke GWS
3. Plowman GWS
4. Toumpas MEL

Word is Port re-interviewed a VIC boy tonight - perhaps Wines considering MEL will most likely take Toumpas.

If we ever had to rely on a team not picking Wines, we couldn't ask for any better than the Tigers.

From a number of sources Lions are deciding between Mcrae, Mayes and Jaksch. Quayle has them leaning towards Jaksch today, but could change.
If Wines comes into the equation, someone has to drop.

Pendlebury was 5

Missing the point...

If Macrae was projected to be as good as Pendlebury, who is a top 5 AFL player, then he'd go top 3 in the draft minimum. Similiar players in several respects, but I think the comparison is overstated

Also, Tigers want Vlaustin - have interviewed him numerous times and by all accounts were pretty much set.
But, if Grundy & Wines are still there, it will be interesting to see if they change.

Grundy will be taken by Richmond if he isn't snapped up early, as expected.
Imagine having the choice of Wines or Macrae.
I have a gut feeling we'll get Menzel at Pick 11.
