Represented you guys in the Richmond Board Phantom, got you Tim Membrey, Kamdyn McIntosh and Matthew Haynes. Thoughts?

Shaw slipping to pick 37 or 40 would be an incredible result for us.
I'm praying to the Footy gods.
maybe, or it might mean, like Chris and others have suggested, he's just not that good and isn't likely to have a huge impact at the top level. Not saying that's the case, just that a few good judges don't rate him. I've never seen him play so I'm not talking from experience here.

Chris has always been a big fan. Has had him going to us at 17 in his phantom for months now and was last time I looked. Chris has always said that Shifter has very little knowledge of the WA boys, which seems to be very accurate.

I've seen him(shaw) play a couple of times, although nothing outstanding definitely a fair amont of upside IMO.

I would be spewing if our guys hadn't picked him up (or at least another highly rated kpp) at 17 with an expectation he might still be around at 37. No chance of that happening. If we don't grab him at first pick, we won't get him at all!

Looked at Simpson's highlight reel again. And Jaksch.

My preferences would be Jaksch>Simpson>Shaw. Tempted to throw Garlett in ahead of Shaw, but I just don't see Freo picking him up.

I'd love us to pick up a KP with our first, but the tiny bit I saw of Clurey (and his height) I wasn't especially impressed. It's Jaksch or no-one with our first I reckon. If that highlight reel is any kind of indication I reckon Simpson is too good a player to let go, despite the need for a KP.

What's Simpson like around clearances and contested situations (at ground level)... a natural? Scared of contact?

ah yes sorry. it was the other guy that was doing all the really detailed write-ups on the WA boys recently that didn't rate him.

I notice Knightmare in his phantom has Kristian Jaksch falling to our pick. I just watched his highlight reel and I would be over the moon if he made it to us. Can't see it happening. There is an article on the AFL website saying he's likely to go at 8 to Brisbane and perhaps earlier.
His high marking is superb.

Mason Shaw's Colts Form is too good to ignore. His champ series wasn't that good but he was competing with Hogan and Paparone. Hard to get the Lion's share. I have this feeling that a decent mid is going to be available at our first pick and the club is going to go best available again. Cue meltdown at point. We would need to use 37 and 40 on KPP's if that were the case. But no guarantees there.

Wouldn't mind Jesse Lonergan. Based purely on write-ups, never seen him play. But he sounds physically ready, and someone who could have an impact in the next few years (which I think is important).

Looks like you had a tough first choice with Shaw, Simpson and Hrovat still on the table. Membrey reminds me of Mayney and has performed well at the highest level but he is that tweener height.

I agree with this, other than I'd have Garlett on a par with Simpson and I do think we'd pick him if we had the chance and he was best available at 17.

It's getting hard to get a line on Jacksch, with some saying he'll be gone by 13 guaranteed, and then others having him drop as far as 20? he looks too good to drop to 20 but strange things happen on draft day, especially with KPP's. There's still a glint of hope that we can get him at 17.

On the AFL site it has the draft machine and it has us taking:
17: Shaw
37:Colledge
40: Carter.
That would be a perfect draft for us if it were to turn out like that. The only thing was Josh Simpson didn't go until 42, if he were there at one of our second picks, highly unlikely, i would be so angry if we did not take him.

Yeah how good with that be if Simpson fell to #40.

Jaksch and Shaw both being available at 1st selection would make the brain-cells tap-dance as well you would think.

Jaksh is 1cm taller than Clurey, and they are the same weight. Clurey did very well in the kicking for goal test, and his endurance
is elite. The only requirement is adding a few kilo's too them both.
Both are strong marks, and can play both ends, with Pavlich and McPharlin to learn from, whats not to like?

Im dreading this situation occurring because my heart says pick the big WA lad who supports Freo, regularly kicks bags in clutch games and can take a strong overhead grab (seems like a complete and utter no-brainer). But then my head says, what about this mobile Vic lad who can dominate at both ends and has received all of the plaudits. Oh well, knowing us we'll probably pick up neither so I needn't worry.
