yes was joking too Apu havng a dig at the Imperial in good humoiur But seriously - I think he may be a good pickup for us at ether last pick or later rookie if available - will we have a selection in the rookie draft ?

Oh good, all in good fun then'. Sorry I had missed your banter with IP.
I hope Paparone is available for our rookie pick. Not sure how Freo rate him as far as pick 40 go. As for whether we have a rookie spot : we have two spots available one of which was going to be taken by Lower if he got that far and possibly the other place taken by Crichton. It now appears Lower may be retained on our main list, leaving at least one spot available for a rookie selection.

Assuming McPhee's gone, we can reinstate Lower on the main list, take three from the draft on to the main list, and add two rookies, one of whom could be Chrichton. Would give us 40 on the main list and five rookies (including Moller). Sound plausible?

It does. Apparently, despite the McPhee thing we are only taking 3 picks in the draft. So either we intend to bring Lower back up or we will take someone else in the PSD.
The West also mentioned that whether Anthony stays or not is still unclear. He is contracted but has been told to consider his future. Don't know if that has already been resolved. He is due back at training this week. We should get a definitive then.

Hmm I'd never actually factored Simpson into my wish list until you guys mentioned he was a possibility for us (also reading that he's a Freo supporter increases his net worth 10 times in my book), but that highlights package is amazing. Imagine him and Hilly in the same side! we'd have some sublime delivery into our forward(s the 's' is for when we get some more).

There doesn't seem much talk of him on the D&T board, highlights where?

latest phantom draft at 17, 18, 19, 20. Who would you prefer?

PICK 17 – FREMANTLE: DAYLE GARLETT,
Height: 180cm, Weight: 75kg, DOB: 9/1/1994
Fremantle would love a KPP for replacing McPharlin and Pavlich for the future, but with Garlett being a top 10 talent, I don't think they would hastate one second to draft him.
Left footed medium forward/midfielder who can find space to win the ball and shows great evasiveness through traffic. Very smart goal kicker and stoppage player as well. Excelled for WA in the NAB AFL Under 18 Championships, averaging 19.2 possessions, 3.4 clearances and winning All-Australian honours.

NAB AFL Combine Results: Running Vertical Jump Right – 79cm (Top 26%), Agility – 8.42 secs (Top 26%)

X-factor: “His pin point left foot is his most damaging weapon, particularly around goals where he has an innate ability to kick the near impossible.”

PICK 18 – COLLINGWOOD: TOM CLUREY,
Height: 192cm, Weight: 85kg, DOB: 23/3/1994
With Chris Tarrant retiring this year, Collingwood will get the second best defender in this year’s draft.
A strong bodied tall defender that reads the play very well. Can shut down opposition key forwards whilst also providing good rebound from defence. Displays excellent leadership qualities, very good endurance and strong hands in the marking contest. Played all five games for Vic Country at the NAB AFL Under 18 Championships, averaging 11.8 disposals and 3.8 rebound 50’s.

NAB AFL Combine Results: Beep Test – 15.1, 3km – 10min 01secs (Top 2%)

X-factor: “His ability to run all day was confirmed when he recorded a 15.1 beep test at the NAB AFL Draft Combine in extremely hot conditions. This separates him from other tall defenders.”

PICK 19 – COLLINGWOOD: TIM MEMBREY,
Height: 189cm, Weight: 88kg, DOB: 26/5/1994
Collingwood let Chris Dawes go because they can't fit three tall’s in their best 22, hence why I selected Membrey hear. Membray is a Jack Darling type of player who can play up the ground and kick bags of goals, which also allows Cloke and Lynch to stay inside forward 50.
Powerful medium forward with extremely strong hands on the lead and a long, accurate kick for goal. Has the ability to keep his feet and rarely fumbles, showing clean hands below the knees as well as overhead. Showed his best form at Etihad Stadium in Round 5 against SA, kicking four goals after injury hampered him in the earlier rounds. Kicked eight goals in the TAC Cup preliminary final in a best on ground performance. AIS-AFL Academy Graduate.

NAB AFL Combine Results: 20m Sprint - 3.00 secs, Beep Test - 13.1

X-factor: “His pin point accurate kicking both at goal, even outside 50m and his field kicking is a rare ability. Kicked 54 goals, 25 behinds this year as proof of his special talent.”

PICK 20 – ADELAIDE: TIM O’BRIEN,
Height: 193cm, Weight: 80kg, DOB: 28/3/1994
Tall quick moving forward whose strength is his overhead marking. Averaged five marks and 2.2 goals per game in the NAB AFL Under 18 Championships and is a reliable set shot for goal. His six goals against Tasmania in Round 1 was the highlight.

NAB AFL Combine Results: Agility Test – 8.30secs (Top 2%), 20m Sprint – 2.94 secs

X-factor: “Speed off the mark, natural leap and agility are rare for a player of his size. Has lots of upside.”

In reality I would be fairly happy with any of those 4 options, and feel pretty please that we have a couple more selections coming in he second round where the talls available don't seem to be a massive step down in quality from O'brien and Clurey.

Corr, Simpson, Shaw, Membrey, Stringer, O'Brien, whoever we go, i'm hopeful we get the reciprocal type player in the 2nd round. 3 players of all similar position won't make for a balanced list.

Just saw another phantom with us taking Spencer White at 37. So of course check video...pretty damn good.

The "team to beat" on the phantom draft mainboard. I think you will like his pick at 40. Might be wishful thinking though.

Yep, sure do!
I agree that it might be wishful thinking but who knows? Someone on AFL.com referred to him as the next Buddy Franklin didn't they? If he drops to 40, someone's got it wrong!

He does run a bit like Buddy. Really quick for his size. Think he is probably a better contested stationary one -on-one mark than Buddy but probably nowhere near as agile. I would love this guy as our full-forward and a guy like Membrey or Pararone as our mobile CHF types. Won't get my hopes up though. I know it was only a highlights package but he looks better than pick 37. Everything crossed.

I still reckon five will be delisted (including Lower/Crichts/JA/McPhee/Robbo).

Then I reckon we will go:
Hrovat/Jaksch/Stringer/Simpson/O'Brien
Colledge/Shaw
Shaw/Paparone/Kamdyn McIntosh

Rookie
Bower (I don't want him but I think they will take him given McFree is goneski)
Lower (never should have been delisted)
Lucas Cook

I was actually comparing the video to Hill's under 18's highlights video. You can't teach instinct at any level and Hill is way more athletic.

Fair 'nuff.

I love Josh's quote in the perthnow article. "I'd love to debut in Round 1, whoever I'm playing for." He's not looking forward to developing his body or gaining experience at state league level. He just wants to play AFL in round 1! Love it! Some are just born with a certain degree of confidence.

I think Freo will take Clurey at 17 and he will be the surprise packet from this years draft and will most likely end up the best 190 + player in the draft.

Was going to say Clurey as well. Best beep test at the camp @192cm, supposed to be a tall defender but surely with that endurance could push up the ground a bit... Luke Mac 2.0

Simpson will go to GC they seem to want WA kids, hed slot in well with Swallow,Bennell, O'meara, Martin and now Simpson. Not a bad midfield , only positive hope would be one of them eventually want to come back home...
