2012 Draft wish list

Old CC in the midst of it all. Certainly smells like its getting serious at Melbourne.

They need to punish them, remove what picks they have and send Jesse back here to Perth and make him go into the 2013 draft.
you'd think Melbourne would have one of the first picks next year as well, so could get Hogan then.
Unless they are also taken off them :p

Yeah they won't touch contracted players such as Hogan (but it makes you feel sorry for him if they are going to cop a whack), and if he was in this draft we would not get a look at him anyway.

Viney could be different. He gets taken in the draft proper, with the club only having committed to selecting him. It seems to me at least possible they could lose him.

Melbourne are a joke anyway, let them have there picks they will draft spuds anyway

I doubt it, that'd be like taking the draft picks off them that they've already traded, not the ones they currently have.

I had a thought the other day... When the Adelaide bombshell broke 3-4 days before the end of the trade period, if Adelaide knew exactly what they did wrong all this time and that it had finally been brought out in the open, or rather it was now inevitable that the rest would be uncovered in the following weeks - why wouldn't they have traded all their picks for whatever they could get, like a firesale... Knowing that the AFL would most likely withdraw any draft picks they had remaining for next months draft??

Trade pick 20 for a mint etc, if they (probably) knew that they'd lose it anyway in a few weeks..
Adelaide brought the story to light for a couple of reasons. 1) They wanted to be seen as being on the front foot hoping for leniency and 2) They were calling Tippett's bluff as he probably reminded them of the backdoor deal and threatened them with exposure if they didn't honour it.

While I agree that the Viney thing is reverseable. the draft picks can be taken away in following years as well as this year. Pretty sure Carlton lost theirs over a couple of years. But like you folks say, if the Afl take away pick 27 this year then the Viney thing is off.

We were saying the same thing this time last year about Shaw (he'd never last till our pick), the same thing was also said this time 3 years ago about Darling. Who's to say that in 12 months time BF folk will have turned their backs on Hogan too?

Anyone seen Pavdawn around these parts? I want my info fix for the afternoon. Some smokey of a big unit defender who is going to slide to #40 and be our up'ncoming KPD??

He has info on the WA youngsters so I asked about the WA KPP prospects. If you ask him nicely about other WA kids you are interested in then he may oblige.

Or they will be good draft picks that leave the club.

On drafting for Freo. I'd love Shane Nelson. He should have been drafted last year IMO even as a rookie. He has tested really well this season at the draft combine. Maybe not the first few picks but wouldn't be bad as our last pick or even rookie draft.

Sure. But they wouldn't take a contract that he already has with them away. My post is about if they took him away and popped him into this draft = we wouldn't get a look. Regardless it won't be an option for all sorts of legal reasons.

That was exactly my point too, he's definitely off limits now - I get that.

If he went into the draft if wouldn't be this years, he's too young, and like Shaw/Darling were a year out from draft day - they weren't a chance to slide to us. Fast forward 12 months and freo fans cooled on both to degrees, it seems to be a trend.

12 months out we're all "we're no chance to get him" ...Nek Minnit "he's slowed down from his X goal games he was playing last year, I'd prefer we went with.."

This guy?

Matthew Haynes (189cm midfielder - Northern Knights)

Coming into the season, Matthew Haynes was considered as a top 10 pick. But somewhere along the way, that has changed and he has seemingly dropped down the order. He has had an injury interrupted season and a bit of a slow start. But the talent that saw him initially so highly rated hasn't gone anywhere. He was listed as a medium defender on the Draft Combine invitee list, but he is more of a winger in my opinion - one who can play off of half back in an offensive role though. But the reason I still have him quite high is because there aren't many players in the draft that have his size, but also his speed. He would be in the elite category for both speed and agility, and it really gives him that special weapon that teams are looking for. He also has very good endurance, so while he might be more of an outside runner, he has all the athletic qualities to really rack up the touches and impact a game. In the Championships, it seemed that whenever he touched the ball something would happen. And while he might be a skinny kid, he still tackles hard. He might take a little while to fully develop, but I think he could be a good substitute next season. AFL Comparison: Jared Polec.

Skinny? Check. Project? Check. Flanker? Check. He fits the bill.

I like the sound of Taylor Garner from your Mock Chris25. Can never have too may Fyfe types!
I think it's just as likely we will draft best available rather than panicking and picking someone over 190 because we have to. I mean what's the point of drafting a tall if we don't rate them just cause they are tall?

Was gonna say ... that particular skinny kid is working out OK! As will one H Crozier in 2013;)

Ben Kennedy is a gun, looks like a Schuey clone without the unnecessary ducking of the head. Would compliment our team nicely. We'll fix the key position stocks outside the draft IMO. Free agency style.

I wouldnt mind having a look at Justin Hardy as a late pick (Say pick 60).

He is 24 year old KPF\KPD (196cm's) and kicked 58 goals in 20 games, and only played as a true forward in the second half of the year.

Bulldog defender come pinch-hitting ruckman, come spearhead Justin Hardy has taken out this year's Ken Farmer Medal (for most goals in the 2012 SANFL League Season Minor Round) by kicking 4 last quarter goals in Saturday Night's loss to North Adelaide. Hardy's goal tally reached 58 goals for the season - 3 ahead of last year's Ken Farmer Medallist Michael Wundke from South Adelaide.
Hardy, more well known as a defender last season became a pinch-hitting ruckman for the first part of this season to cover the loss of Jason Sutherland through injury! While resting up forward began to show his attributes as a key go to man for the Dogs.
He kicked bags of 5 goals or more on 5 separate occasions including two hauls of 7 against Glenelg and South Adelaide in the final 5 rounds of the 2012 season to collect the award and put himself in esteemed Bulldog company alongside 1968 SANFL Leading Goalkicker Rick Vidovich, 1989 cult figure Rudi Mandemaker and 7-time Premiership Player Daniel Schell who won the award in Premiership years 2004 and 2005.
After missing last year's SANFL Grand Final through an injury sustained in the week leading up Hardy is supremely focused on helping his side resurrect its stance in the competition through this year's Finals Series.
With both Alan Obst and Andrew Hayes making their way back into the Bulldogs outfit in recent week's Hardy certainly wont be alone as a go to target when the Bulldogs meet West Adelaide in this Sundays Qualifying Final at AAMI Stadium. Here's to hoping he can add many more to his tally throughout September and early October!

Biggest influence on career: Eating habits of Lee Spurr

Chris25 - What is your opinion on him, I like the look of him as the forward who can play for 2-3 years at least while anyone we draft this year develops.

Don't like him. Have you seen that wrap on the AFL site? He's like an arrogant version of Kerr. ;)

Sounds like Pods from Geelong, if we dont take a Tall with our first pick, this could work, but we may have
to give up pick 40 instead of 60, going by Tom Lee result.
Mature age players are more highly valued, thanks to Freo, Saunders rookied would be nice too.
