I'd be surprised if Colledge was gone before our picks in the second round. As highly as I rate him, he should be there.

As for Hrovat, I don't see any issue with him at Subi or playing alongside Barlow. You still need ball winners and clearance players on the bigger grounds. Guys like Sam Mitchell and Peter Bell never seemed to have too many issues. As long as you can run all day, then they'll be fine - and Hrovat can do that. I like Lonergan, but I feel Hrovat will be the better player.

My only problem is that we're going to have very few rookie spots, with possible re-draftings in Crichton/Lower, we could potentially only have 1 new rookie on our list next year. Would have been nice to rookie list a couple of KPPs.

Lower out, Lonergan or Hrovat in.

It doesnt look good for us drafting more KP players.

I'm not so sure about that.

I think the delisting of Lower is more about the need to have KPP's on the list for next year. There's no way we could afford to delist 2 mature KPP's (Faulks and Anthony) now and go into next season with what we've got and then 1 or 2 developing 18yo KPP's.

The recruiters will still realise that we need to have some KPP's developing on our list even with Faulks and Anthony there and Lower gone.

I think delisting Lower allows us to target someone in the PSD when we delist Anthony. I think we will look at one or two mature age players who could possibly step up.

Who's available that is better than Lower. Do you have anyone in mind. They wouldn't have to be delisted yet, just uncontracted. Know of anyone?

Jordan Scanlon- Manson (From kimberly KPF - more solid, not as athletic) but with more commitment.

Mitchell van den Berg - 190cm quick forward.

Aaron Luccon (196cm defender - Norwood)

Some players worth considering, I am sure

Or maybe they are looking at Gram.

There was a 21\22 year old VFL KPD player i liked, but i have forgotten his name.

I am sure I will think of it.

There has been a bit of talk about a mature-age SA KP forward/ruck Justin Hardy and a very impressive midfielder from Vic Kyle Martin. I was wondering if we would try and squeeze one of them in.

Agree Chris and to be honest if we don't get Shaw/Jaksch then Hrovat would be my preferred pick over others that should be available but that depends on who slides.

I'd be happy to add Orr to the KPPs you listed, and would rather Simpson than Hrovat.

We're still in need of outside pace and good delivery by foot. We've got decent stocks of inside mids (Mundy, Barlow, Fyfe, De Boer... and Mora, Sheridan, Neale to come), but not much outside (Hill, PearceD... Sutcliffe to come possibly).

Only thing that bothers me is the go home factor the Melbourne Metro boys always seem to have. Particularly with a KPP they'll take a couple of years to develop.

If they want to go home after their first contract we mightn't get anything decent as a trade, and we need to develop another kid. Talent wise, I'd rather Jaksch than Shaw. But we'd have to hope he isn't a mummy's boy.

At the moment, this is how I predict the first round will go...

1. Greater Western Sydney - Lachie Whitfield
2. Greater Western Sydney - Jimmy Toumpas
3. Greater Western Sydney - Lachie Plowman
4. Melbourne - Ollie Wines
5. Western Bulldogs - Jonathon O'Rourke
6. Western Bulldogs - Troy Menzel
7. Port Adelaide - Brodie Grundy
8. Brisbane Lions - Kristian Jaksch
9. Richmond - Nick Vlastuin
10. Essendon - Joe Daniher
11. Carlton - Jackson Macrae
12. Greater Western Sydney - Sam Mayes
13. Gold Coast - Josh Simpson
14. Greater Western Sydney - Aidan Corr
15. North Melbourne - Ben Kennedy
16. Geelong - Jake Stringer
17. Fremantle - Nathan Hrovat

So, I expect a few of the names mentioned so far today will have been taken before our pick. As for the rest of the first round, Collingwood are a tough one to predict...

18. Collingwood - Tim Membrey
19. Collingwood - Tom Clurey
20. Collingwood - Nathan Wright
21. Western Bulldogs - Taylor Garner
22. Sydney Swans - Jesse Lonergan/Dayle Garlett

But if I'm right (highly unlikely) we could have our choice of Hrovat, Garner, Lonergan, Garlett or any number of KPPs.

Chris I said this on Tuesday, I must be reading too many phantom drafts. With Pearce, Sheridan, Crozier adding pace I
dont think outside pace is our issue. also Mitchie, Morobito, Sloithe to debut?
There is a red headed kid who plays back pocket/mid who is hard as nails, if slided to our pick, happy days.

Pearce yes. But Crozier is still too small and won't have developed the tank to run through the midfield all game. Schloithe is inside, not outside as far as I'm aware. And Mitchie has good skills, but isn't genuinely fast. Mora has great speed, but isn't a great kick. A long kick, but not a really accurate one.

So that list comes down to Hill, PearceD, (maybe) Mora and (maybe) Sheridan. Still room for another outside mid there I reckon, especially if Hill or Pearce aren't available for whatever reason.

The closer we get to draft day, the more and more I think we'll be taking Nathan Hrovat at #17. Apparently he is up to 176cm now, so height isn't a huge factor - especially not considering we have a fairly tall midfield already.

I'm sorry, but height is a big issue. If you are that small, you pretty much have to have great pace in order to make up for it.

Sam Mitchell is about the only midget I can think of who is a gun and not a speedster (and he's not really that slow). He has a few cm on this Hrovat. What are the odds of Hrovat being anywhere near as good as Mitchell? I would say very slim.

Would much prefer Lonergan. But this is just based on other people's profiles. I really don't know anything about these kids.

In all honesty I think I'm going to be happy with whoever we draft with pick 17 out of the guys discussed

If we dont pick a tall out of Shaw, Jaksch, Corr, Stringer or Plowman then we are still going to be left with a very good midefielder with Simpson, Garlett, Hrovat, Menzel, Vlastuin or Garner to pick from. This fraft looks really exciting for the first 30 - 40 picks so we sho0uld end up with a gem either way.

With that being said Though I would obviously rather a KPP as we are in need of one but we will end up with a future first 22 player either way

Knightmare has gone for this bloke as our first pick. Would be happier with him than Hrovat.

#17 Fremantle -Tim Membrey (VIC - Fwd)
Height: 188cm, Weight: 87kg, DOB: 26/05/1994
Recruited from: Gippsland Power
Style:
Player comparison: Jack Darling
Range: 10-35
Profile: Strong, ready to go forward. Real leader by example and one of those types who demands respect. Has to this point in time played as a key forward but projects as more of a 3rd tall at his height. Has the ability to play right away with his strong, man’s body. Big contested marking target up forward who hits the scoreboard with regularity and has produced some big goal hauls. Very strong mark on the lead. Set shot goal kicking very good and knows where the goals are. Membrey is physically very strongly built so his impact for a forward looks like it could be more immediate than the next player. Membrey’s production and presence up forward is un-ignorable. While he hasn’t had much opportunity through the midfield I would be drafting him to be developed into a strong bodied inside midfielder. Has the skillset and as well as the physicality to thrive in this role but having played mostly forward this year it is still an unknown.

Agree Chris and to be honest if we don't get Shaw/Jaksch then Hrovat would be my preferred pick over others that should be available but that depends on who slides.
Agree with that too When watching all the clips afl.com featuring Shaw he actually can move very well through the play down back and into chf - it is like there are two clips some where he is in the stay at home full forward posi and others where he has license up the ground as a mobile ruckman - is like looking at two different players. I would hope if we go for Hrovat it is because and only because Mason has already been selected. I could not understand the emphasis on an inside mid when Neale and Sloithe are more than capable. Only issue for me with the relaxing on a kpf.b for our first pick is that our first picks as a rule should always go toward our greatest priority - I would think it is a key forward.

Whats your dream first choice pick to suit your club?
During the year the boys asked dayle garlett what team would you like to play afl for. he replied,
well i would preffer and rather not play footy or live in queensland, adelaide ,sydney with the new teams and the other teams like
the cats, tigers, freo, north melb, blues he cant see himself playing for them as not a fan of them growing up so hopefully not them teams will be sweet. but the the rest is ok, so guys would you rather a player like vlastuin, jasksch, kennedy, clurey, stringer ect that are keen to play with pride as there is so many great kids around ?

Yeah, I think you're right.
