Yes. For CHF. Lacks contested stationary (as opposed to contested on the lead) marking ability. Would be a good lead up option. Rated quite highly by recruiters according to channel 7.

Paparone is a good kid from a nice local Freo family too - Freo supporter to boot I believe. I have taught both him and his sister, and had a bit to do with his mum who is a Law lecturer at UWA. Good stock. :)

(But a shit kick apparently... :()

Let's hope if he gets picked up by Freo he doesn't retire early to study medicine.

Sounds like he passes our no dickhead policy. Hope he comes to us.:thumbsu:

Why would Brodie Grundy be in our dreams, another raw young basketballer that may one day turn into a ruckman is the last thing we need.
I reckon if Simpson or Garlett are there at 17 we'll take one of them, regardless of which KPP is also still there

Simpson is almost a certainty IMO. Has everything we need (for a midfielder) has good pace, a penetrating kick and is very good in the air for his size. One of those 80 metre players drafters love.

Medicine?? Nah, no chance. Decent kid, but no intellectual giant!!

Paparone didn't consider himself a draft prospect when he learnt of his father's cancer.
The teenager had played for WA at the 2010 under-16 national titles, then suffered two ankle injuries and a broken collarbone in 2011.
But football became a sanctuary where his private worries disappeared.
Paparone ran and ran and ran some more. He'd shown an appetite for running at Palmyra during junior footy, but since breaking level 15 during East Fremantle's colts beep test and earning selection in the State's under-18 team, he hasn't looked back.

Picking either one of those guys up at 17 would make me very happy. Have said a few times that I'd be happy for us to pick up Garlett, but I don't see us actually pulling the trigger. One of those guys or Garner would my ideal pick at 17. Jaksch would be ideal if he slipped through... but the go-home factor freaks me out a bit there.

As for Grundy, I don't think there's much about him that's raw... not as in Zac Clarke raw anyway. But agree that we've got more important needs.

Some people seem to have an idea that Grundy's a decent forward option too, would probably already be better up forward than Clarke & JA. Is 10kg's heavier than Zac too. Although if we did pull the trigger, both Zac & Griff would be fielding offers elsewhere by the end of next year most likely.

Yeah, had a quick peep at his stats earlier and he regularly kicked 3 goals a game.

Perth Now claims that we are understood to be interested in Simpson with our first pick. He is a Freo supporter and would love to play for us. But he is the only WA player to be invited to the draft so will unlikely be available at our first pick.

Gold Coast is interested too, looks like he might be taken by them first.

F!cking Gold Coast. Nabbing Martin, O'Meara and potentially Simpson from here in the last couple of years.

If they grab Simpson I'll be barracking against them all next year just on principle.

me oh my intellectual grandstandng lol but he can tie his shoe laces and knows how to open the gate at the right end hmmmmph Reading his bits in the paper he sounds like he may have a different kind of intellectual ability EAWS Early Aquired Wisdom Syndrome he would be a good pickup n my humble opinion :D

Different sorts of intelligence. If you went by Gardener's definition of intelligence, sporting ability would be included. Was just having a joke that if he has the academic intellectual capacity of his mother he may do what Swift from West Coast did and leave footy to study medicine. I don't have that degree of academic capacity but I would choose intellectual over sport any day, whereas McKay an ex-player from Carlton is a vet and is doing some job for the AFL. Guess it depends on where your true passions lie.

Hmm I'd never actually factored Simpson into my wish list until you guys mentioned he was a possibility for us (also reading that he's a Freo supporter increases his net worth 10 times in my book), but that highlights package is amazing. Imagine him and Hilly in the same side! we'd have some sublime delivery into our forward(s the 's' is for when we get some more).
