Fremantle will enter Thursday's NAB AFL Draft with picks 17, 37 and 40, and Bond said the club was keen to add young key position talent to its list.

"We're not going to jeopardise the draft to do that, but certainly that's an area that we think some players developing as key forwards/key defenders would really help us in our future," Bond said.

"We'll certainly be looking at that but we still need to bring talent through the door."

Ok, i guess that is a fair enough statement, at this point Im still hoping we end up with Obrien at 17, Shaw at 36 and Simpson/Garlett at pick 39.... id be happy with that

Would love Josh Simpson but if O'Brien is available we should pull the trigger. It makes sense that another Croweater replaces Pav as our Key forward.

Pls be true.

This would be a very good result for the Club and I would also be happy with those selections, although I very much doubt Simpson will be there for our 2nd round pick.

Simpson might be there at 36, it's probably underestimated the fact he has to move a young partner and child across the country, particularly when family is so important. Now the reason he moved back to WA 12 months ago is probably a tad more clear to recruiters.

Gold Coast have shown strong interest, similarly us, not many other clubs have been talked about as options. Provided he gets past Gold Coast at pick 13, in reality they are reaching for him at that point, but are doing so as a stable mate for Jack Martin. We should be a chance to nab him at 36.

The only other big risk between 17 and 36 would be Ports two picks.

FFS - really don't care how good Simpson or Garlett are (and Simpson definately is).
Said to be the best offering of kpp's in years, so let's just get in and get one of the best ones early.... surely?
Never a better time to draft for "need". Get someone ready to play in 2013 (stringer/o'brien/white) and then nail another for future (Shaw) pleeeease!
Then I really won't care what they do with the last pick.

Most pundits then have it down to O'Brien vs Simpson with our first pick, I am torn but thinking on balance we need to go O'Brien for needs although I see Simpson as a Hayden replacement and do like him. Collingwood will certainly grab O'Brien if we don't. Then hopefully Shaw or maybe Smith (KPD) slips to (now) 36 (I assume Simpson gone by then) and then 39 best available.

Went past Spud Murphy on Monday - think he was the last genuine KPF we chose with a reasonably high pick and our chances in this draft with better KPP talent and better recruiters now we need to pull the trigger on O'Brien.

Countdown begins...

Simpson at 39? No wonder you think Bond sucks at drafting.

Ben robinson doesnt even have simpson in his top 25, yes a lot of people have us taking him at 17 now, but 2 months ago nobody had even heard of him. He has a young family, there is every reason to expect he will fall to a second round pick. He also doesnt suit a need. maybe pick 39 is a stretch, but I dont think he will go first round... and hopefully will fall to us later down the track... if he goes mid ssecond round... meh, he doesnt fill a need for us anyway.

Bonds record of drafting and trading speaks for itself, doesnt need my opinion to change that

**** a duck. Bond doesn't do the drafting.

Brad Lloyd is the list manager

Bond is the Football manager. Everything comes under his umbrella. If his list manager is rubbish, then he should be making changes. Every part of the football department falls under him. And by the way, ive been endorsing lloyd being given the flick as well. We should be going absolutely all out to somehow get stephen wells now that we let matt rendell get picked up when he was unemployed

Really? I was with you on the Bond can't trade theory KPR, but Lloyd is doing a good job. Here's hoping today will be no exception.

Funny bloke.

Amazing how we switch coaches and all of a sudden the talent starts playing well.

As for your other points on Rendell etc think you're drawing a long bow.
