Just trying to help..

You're no AG.

Haha jokes, but Seriously though youve witnessed IRL what my love of the brownies are like, imagine one in my team... Jesus

I disagree entirly. We have been most fortunite in recent years to have got Ball, Jolly and Mumford all from trading and sadly our ruck development has been poor, bar Pyke.

But we dont know when the luck of the trade wheel will stop and Im a big beliver in the ruck as part of the plan. All our rucks are mid twenties and up. While we will have two next year the succussesion plan needs to be looked at in the draft and a ruckman needs to be looked at if a trade for a younger ruck fails. Ayce Cordy at the bulldogs is a young-ruck target as Minson is in form, Roughead and now young Tom Campbell are pushing for spots squeezing him out.

I think getting a young ruck from trade or draft is imperative in this draft.

Doesn't Ayce Cordy pretty much fit into the category of trading for a developing young ruck from another team, which is what I suggested at the end of my post?

And I don't think our ruck trades come down purely to luck either. As I said... ruckmen are easy trade targets because you can often find decent/developing rucks that aren't getting regular opportunities at other clubs. That's exactly how we picked up both Jolly and Mumford. I believe it's much easier to land a decent ruckman via trade than it is most other positions. Have a look at how many of them have changed clubs over the past few seasons and you'll see what I mean. If we didn't snare Mumford we could have landed a Maric, Jacobs etc.

I'd much rather we risk picking up a dud ruckman in a trade and knowing the result after 1 or 2 seasons a'la Torture Chambers, than draft a dud ruckman who takes up a valuable spot for 6 years like Currie.

No, but vonn does when she watches him play.

She'd be so happy if we got two....

Rucks are interesting. I don't mind waiting on a ruck who is rookied but we have traded for them well. If we managed to get a high pick I'd have no qualms going for Grundy but unlikely. Both Cox and sandi came from rookie as well as Mumford so plenty of space on rookie imo

.

Yes he does. On that part I was agreeing with you to a degree.

But failing that we need to draft, as good as our trading has been we need to give two bites of the cherry. Currie was disapointing, orreal was a big gamble, Doyle injury ridden.

One way or another we need to put a younger ruckman in the system. If that's by trade so be it but if it doesn't work it's in the draft. I don't have an issue with a spot on our list been given to a developing ruck and think it's essential.

Wasn't Mitch Brown being talked up as an AA last year? How times change...

My ideal situation right now for this draft would be either Jaksch or Plowman to fall to us (~20) which we can then build a forward line around.

The other name I wouldn't mind is a kid by the name of Tom Temay. Made a name for himself when he tagged Whitfield out of the game the two Vic sides played against each other. Pretty awesome tagger who gets his own ball. Can play back pocket as well. Possible replacement for Rhyce Shaw. Might slip to us in the second round.

I'd love to get Ben Reid to Sydney but it would be poor timing considering that Grundy/Richards probably have at least another 2 years left as a partnership and LRT is a more than capable backup should one of them fall over. Defense is probably the last area we need to address at the moment.

Stick Reid in the forward line :)

Probably would be worth more than your first rounder - but hey, it's a start!

Also if Ben asked to be traded to the Swans we would get him for less than if he just wanted to be traded to any club. If Collingwood cannot afford him due to the massive contract they signed Cloke on then i doubt Collingwood would get to upset at Reid wanting to change clubs.

What would Collingwood want that we would be willing to trade?

If Ben Reid would leave they would still have a tight salary cap and wont want our fringe players with the possible exception of Seaby who i dont think he has much trade value and may be delisted at the end of the year anyway

Our first pick will llikely be arount 19 and i doubt our second pick would interest them.

Ben Reids value IMO has has been reduced recently with ongoing injuries but still would be worth a fair amount more than pick 19, 40 and Seaby who like he is for us would only be a backup.

We really should be convincing Goddard to come over to Sydney. What a coup that would be and he can play up forward.

Can't see it happening but how good would it be watching opposition coaches and teams try to contend with Goodes, Goddard and a more experienced Rohan. It would be an absolute nightmare.
