Short term Vlastuin is the one that will most likely help propell us up the ladder (solid long term prospect too though)

Grundy will linger for years before he makes any real impact like most of his type and while he looks a fantastic prospect id still b dissappointed if we didnt snare Vlastuin .

If we get neither i will spew.

haha there's wish lists and then there's wishlists.. Na I didn't have them.

First round is probably something like (in order of preference): Grundy; Vlastuin; O'Rourke

If we don't get Grundy I would really love to get either Membrey or Haynes at 32 and then a couple of hard mids as our last two picks (maybe Graham and Sumner!)

any chance of FJ pulling a swifty and going for another conca-esque pick? eg. getting to pick 9 and picking a player widely touted as a late first rd/2nd rd instead of any of the popular choices here? Can see the board going into meltdown if this does happen after 108 pages lol.

I'm certainly a fan of both Carter and McDonough. Vlastuin, Carter, McDonough and Atkins would be an excellent haul.

Agree tigs that if we take Vlastuin at 9 we shouldn't take Pongracic later. Should only look at the latter if we get Macrae or someone of that ilk at 9.

So at the moment, it's a combination of these players I'm hoping for:

9 - Vlastuin, Macrae, Grundy, Wines or maybe Mayes (keep changing my mind about him)
32/34 - Atkins, Pongracic, Carter, Broomhead, Wright, Boston, McIntosh
43 - Lowrie, Sumner, McDonough, Nelson, Thurlow, White

Others I'm hoping slide to our second rounders include Membrey, Graham, Lonergan, Colquhoun and Simpson, though it's doubtful any of them will make it there.

Agree, probably won't play much next year till he fills out but I love the way he plays.

Also just read Grundy's profile on the afl website. Jeez I hope we get him. I love his quote at the end:

"I'm pretty aggressive, I thrive on the contest, and provide good second and third efforts after the hit-out. I'd say that I'm pretty honest and try to give 100 per cent all the time. Interesting article NUFC Tiger. I would think that is an insight but I'm sure our recruiting depot has a range of contingencies/scenarios in place. One of the few times during the yr I'm hoping the days would go a little faster. But they seem slower due to daylight saving.

I reckon you can look at it a couple of ways..
1) We've drafted/recruited these guys already and are looking for Conca/Ellis/Grigg to get more game time in the middle. Whoever we draft prob wouldn't play in the guts as Dimma seems to like them serving their apprenticeship in the backline.
2) We are going for an inside mid in the draft to bolster our stocks.

I've said before I am excited for whoever we draft, it seems we are in that favourable part of the draft where potentially 8-12 highly rated kids will still be available.

Don't forget Dom Tyson will be at Punt Road in 2014.

It will be trade unfortunately. We like it to be pre season draft but another Melbourne club will swoop on him. I'm thinking he'll cost our first round pick and a player to get it done and that player will be ' Hmmmmmm let me think for a minute .... I'm going to have to go with Nahas . And Nahas will get $400'000 a season .

Please don't ask me where I get this information from it is classified.

Do you think a first round draft pick (most likely to be something around 8-14) and Nahas will get it done for a player who went 3 in the draft? Or will the giants figure that if he goes, we might as well get something?

No that's what will get the deal done , just like this year.

Has no real direct relevance to any of our clubs but .. a good source on the Carlton board says that we have crossed Menzel off our list because he won't make it past Pick #8 and will most likely be selected by the Bulldogs.

This might allow for another highly rated player to "slip through".
