@BrettAndersonIF: Could Brodie Grundy slide past Port at pick 7? Wouldn't be shocked if he ends up at GWS at pick 12. #AFLDraft
Noooooo
? Agreed UTG. In 4 to 5 years Maric would have retired and a guy like Grundy would be starting to dominate. Perfect for us!I am also keen to very keen on Vlastuin. I just see Grundy filling a big hole for a decade and would hope a good inside mid would be found at 32,34,43.
We'll see. But passing on Grundy at 9 would seem a really dangerous thing to do. IMHO

Agree with Vlastuin but really like Wright with 1 of our second round picks. Really hoping Hrovat might slip to these picks aswell (wishfull thinking) & I like McDonough at 43 if he's still there.
Happy with your rookie selections aswell
Have noticed this theme from many posters - Why the hell are we in a hurry to Replace Tucky !!
He is just about to enter his prime 30-38 is when the tucks play their best football,Essendon are in no hurry to get rid of fletcher and he will be 38 next may ???
Apparently Collingwood are very keen on Wright and Hrovat with their first rounders. Wouldn't be shocked to see Hrovat go to GC or Kangas at 13 or 15, even GWS at 14. Highly unlikely either of them will be available at our 2nd IMO. Graham on the other hand is an outside chance, especially now that Jacobs is in the mix for St Kilda at 25/26. Could see them taking Tanner Smith and Jacobs which would hopefully allow Graham to slip to us. I'm wondering now if Membrey might be a bit of a slider on draft day, seems to have gone a bit cold. How good would this be:
Vlastuin
Membrey
Graham
Nelson

I think he was overlooked in the draft last year. He's a short midfielder/ small forward.Who is this Nelson kid? Is he any good and are Richmond even interested?
Never heard of him until today. Just found out my cousin from Perth is dating him
Unfortunately she knows nothing about football so couldn't answer any my questions.
Apparantly he is quick that is all I know. Hope he gets drafted wouldnt mind to actually
know someonewho plays for the club.

And which top notch ruckman is going to do that?Passing on Grundy could also mean that the mediums available in the first 10 or so picks are pretty handy players.
Looking at our list I'm not sure he would be the ideal fit anyway. I think Maric is one of the rucks who needs 70 to 80 percent ruck time and we already have a forward ruck. We need someone who will fit into our structure and help us play finals over the next 5 years not to be ready in 4/5 years.

Big Bertha or Broomstick PutterHas a frame designed after a golf club
Nelson got an illness last year when it mattered and lost 7kgs he has since put that back on and had a good year in the wafl. Deserve's a shot for sure. Heres a link with some stats he had this year.Has a frame designed after a golf club
And Maric won't sustain a single injury in the next 4 to 5 years?Ummm.....Maric?
No idea. We then have Vickery. Not too many teams have 2 gun ruckmen unless they are freaks like Cox/NicNat. Purely because they don't co-exist well. And Maric won't sustain a single injury in the next 4 to 5 years?
Mids can picked up in the next draft which is strong. They mature earlier so they can be right to go in a year or two. Good rucks are hard to find and take a little longer to mature. What if the club rates Vlastuin higher than Grundy? Should they take Grundy just because he is a ruck?Mids can picked up in the next draft which is strong. Well if they rate him higher.... What can I say? In every phantom draft during the year 95% of the time Grundy was rated higher than Vlastuin. If we look at it differently I'll have to accept that. What if the club rates Vlastuin higher than Grundy? Should they take Grundy just because he is a ruck?
Also, if we are looking down the track what do people think about using pick 34 on Tanner Smith if he was there? We are going to need a big full back at some stage and he looks like he could be it.

Tanner Smith would be an astute pick at 34 although there are others that would also be good at that pick!
What are your thoughts on Rodda's defensive game? I think he is a super kick for defender and his offensive game is solid but defensively leaves a bit to be desired. For us, we already have Rance, Griffiths, Batchelor & Grimes who can attack. IMO we will need a proper shut down full-back who never gets beaten. To me, that could be Smith where as Rodda would be more of what we have. (ie guys who can't defend the monsters.)I think I'd prefer Rodda at 43 than Smith at 34
