I seem to remember a bunch of armchair experts wanting Mitch Grigg last year and how they would spew if we didn't take him. We didn't and now he's been delisted. You can all p*** off. Unless you like Tigs and MR have actualy followed the juniors all year your opinions are worthless.

when was he delisted?

No, only the highlight clips and what I have read in forums and the media. From this I formed my opinion, and my opinion is the club better be very confident in Vlastuin at pick 9. There are some highly rated alternatives.

i have exactly the same exposure of the draftees as you mate and have an opinion but know its an UNinformed opinion.

Yep agreed plus I can't f#£king stand the show the X factor so I'm all for the ban :)

All those shows are made for the record companies.

Easy way to vacuum all the talent to one spot then make money out of them.

P.S got a feeling Grundy will be gone and Stringer.

I'll be out at Metricon tomorrow for a junior combine testing day. Sheeds will be there and no doubt Bluey and Suns players. Hopefully some of the draftees are there though as it a promotional/learning day, but I can try and get some early mail before everything gets going later in the evening. Although I am sure the players have been told by clubs, 'not a word to anyone, but we will be taking you if available'.

Two years ago I remember sitting in the convention centre telling my son after the first few picks....."we are taking a kid called Polec" and then Brisbane called out his name. I was suddenly ...what...what happens now??

Ironically they are right before us again....

Huge difference. There was actually nothing wrong with Selwoods knee. I saw the orthopaedic surgeons report on it back in 2006 (Mr Hayden Morris).
This guy has already had a LARS procedure. This has been discredited all around the world (banned in France) and when you go back in to reoperate on them the whole thing is all fraid and fragmenting.
If you are willing to go down this path don't be disappointed with him if and when he breaks down.

AT you seem to be from a medical back ground, what the slows on the LARS acl repair as ive seen a surgeon who wanted to do this to my knee (my acl is a little stretched not torn)? is there a genetics theory in play here considering his brother has done 2 already and if he did do it again from my understanding the bridge(or sheath) which is formed to fit the artificial ligament is done over the normal acl in the hope the normal acl grows with it, what it like to remove the LARS for a more tradititional acl repair?

We didn't bring in Chocco for no reason. If Garlett is available at our 2nd round, I'd expect us to take him. Richmond is aware of his talent, I can assure you of that.

there has been quite abit of slows put on him and in some circles a fear he might be overlooked, not bc of talent but bc it is feared he would be hard to contain.

Gents been a pleasure discussing things wy all.
Its an interesting time one night before the so called super draft.
stuff this up and it will put us back 2 years, this is the crucial one, there is one more cleanout to go next year and then we are okey dokey PROVIDED we draft right.

I will only be happy if we draft a player with x factor, the mids are there dont worry about that.
come on tigers, be bold be strong and bold oh were from tiger...yellow and black

next year is supposed to be a super draft.

There was something on him earlier that said a doctors report on his knee said he was eligible for a normal reconstruction if needed. Or something to that effect. Would that make him a less risky prospect?

i think a LARS uses the existing torn acl as a sort of splint to fit the artificial ligament. a normal acl you remove the existing acl ligament then use a sub(hammy or patella)so i think they would be able to do it anyway but im not sure.

just a suggestion after the draft tomorrow the phrase X Factor should be banned from this forum .No one actually knows what the phrase means and no one knows how it applies to afl

OK this question keeps getting asked and nobody has bothered to answer it and the people who continue to ask it are starting to believe that we dont know what it is -------------- But ofcourse everybody does know what is meant by the term.

Unpredictable Game changing ability,Sometimes against all odds ------ X FACTOR

THe genetics involved here have never been studied well enough to be able to categorically say if it is a risk factor one way or the other. One would be a brave man to say it has nothing to do with it. We know connective tissue alterations exist that are genetically linked for other disease processes (Marfan's syndrome etc). Not enough information exists here though. An intelligent guess in the Menzel case would be yes, there may be a genetic reason for these ACL tears, or at the very least contributing to them.
As for yourself, I would not like to give an opinion except to say, that unless you are a high performance sports person that must do this to return back rapidly to their professional sport, I would err on the side of caution and avoid LARS. That is definitely the current thinking.

Not knocking your creds but seriously medical advice on BF?

Lol Adelaide.

Admitting they over-achieved this year. Realising they'd prefer to lose this year's 20 & 54 than two lower picks in, say, two years time... assuming the AFL takes away their first two round picks for two years.

Totally agree. In 2 years time they could finish mid field and in effect they would be giving up 20 and 54 to retain pick 10 and 30 in 2 years time. Even if they were to have a high finish it would be in the range of 14 and low /mid 30's. Hopefully the AFL see through this.

Quayle's mock:

Whitfield
O'Rourke
Plowman
Toumpas
5. Macrae
Stringer
Wines
Mayes
Vlastuin
10. Daniher
Menzel
Corr
Lonergan
Jaksch
15. Hrovat
Thurlow (!)
Simpson
O'Brien
Garner
20. Grundy (!!!!!)
Kennedy
Wood
Smith

"Some late mail for Grundy" re Tigers

Kennedy possible slider into the 30-40 range. Would be handy at 32-34 as would Lonergan. Vlastuin/Wines, Kennedy and Lonergan first 3 picks would be a fair result.

Emma has us right the last two years so happy if she is right again

What is the late mail re Grundy??? Been looking online everywhere. Is the mock in the paper only???

Has anyone noticed Lonergan is built like a shit brick house? He's 92 kgs at 180cms. He is built like Shaun Grigg/Josh Kennedy.

I think it would be criminal if Grundy dropped to Collingwood, absolutely criminal!

If Menzel is available at 9 and we don't take him, we're stupid.

If Menzel is taken and Grundy is available, we would be stupid not to take him. The perfect CHF in the next 5 years. He'll be ready to play next year.

If Grundy and Menzel are taken, then go for Vlastuin or Wines.

Menzel's the guy that we MUST take if he slides to 9, he's going to be the next Stevie J. Not that Vlastuin or Wines won't be any good, but we've got to persevere with Arnot, who I think could really develop in the next few years.
