Foley?

Any chance Kennedy might be a huge slider? I've only seen highlights, but there seems to be a mentality that anyone sub 180cm isn't worth looking at... certainly not early. Last year Nelson was talked up as an early round possibility and missed completely. Now I know Kennedy sounds like he is a much more explosive and talented player, but mid second round may not be completely out of the question...
No chance in hell, as mentioned before smith & prestia went early and from all the experts like knightmare ,snoop, chris - Kennedy is better
Believe Menzel did his other knee today.

Pick 50+ now you'd reckon
I wouldnt touch him now unless its a rookie pick UTG, definately looks like a major problem with these boys
Can I ask what do you like about McBean?
I like the size 202cm combined with the fact that he has been playing in defence and been doing very well there, also can play foward.

But what i like about getting a player like McBean is the structure he gives our team. I would love a player like or McBean playing CHB /FB he has the Size,Agility and good speed. With Tyrone Vickery playing foward & McBean playing in Defence we have very very good coverage in the ruck and will only ever need to go into games with 1 recognised ruckman.

While I do agree it is highly unlikely he will slide to the 20's, I keep thinking back to Nelson last year... maybe he's a one off case, and perhaps it wasn't his height so much that was the reason for him being overlooked... but Knightmare had Nelson going @ 27, Chris25 had him @ 35, Snoop @ 38. Reading back over their comments from last year's mocks, I can't believe he didn't get on an AFL list... very keen for us to give him a chance this year.

Knightmare reckons he'll still go first round. A top 4 team can possibly afford to take that punt, but I can't see him on our list next year.

Yes you're probably right, Damo.
Such a shame
I put up a thread on the D&T board about 6 weeks ago re: brothers' injury history and what effect that would have on draft position. Was largely ridiculed.
Grimes, Brown, Menzels...

I dont believe Richmond are the team that can afford to take a chance with Menzel after another Knee + brothers

Maybe a Collingwood, hawthorn, west Coast or Geelong can take that Risk but not us.

Yeah totally rules Menzel out for us. Shame for the kid, he is a damn fine talent.

I agree will get his name read out in the first round, his talent is top 5 worthy, a leading club will have the patience. Give him a proper reconstruction and get him fit and ready. My bet is Collingwood or Hawthorn.

Probably still wouldn't take him.

We, in our position need every selection to work out. We have three early picks, we definitely need to have them succeed.

Unfortunately he looks like to much of a risk at that pick for us.

the beau muston of 2012
Pretty much, but a better player. Beau was overrated by Hawthorn and their fans.

Good junior, but not ever a top 5 like they had everyone believe. This kid on talent, definitely is. With this new knee injury, that is his second and he is 18. Not good if true.

If we can develop him right I don't see the risk. Just give him the time his body and mind needs to get right while not just focussing on just his injured knee but other areas of his body so that he doesn't injure himself again. Example of this is an Arsenal player who the Arsenal doctors would only focus on the injury and not other areas of his body so that we he would come back he would get injured again but he has now got his own doctor who doesn't just focus on where he is injured but on other areas of the body to make sure he doesn't get injured again. Its seems to have worked for him so far at least.

Also having two second round picks means we may be able to take the risk.

I respectfully disagree. this could be his second knee injury. His brother has had two. This is a problem.

We as a club in our position who needs to build through the draft, cannot afford this risk. I would be very concerned and I am a massive fan of his play. We won't touch him.

He will be taken by a club that can take the risk. Hawthorn after another flag, Collingwood who have a heap of kids in waiting and an ego of best everything so will think they can get him right. I hope he makes it and wish him all the best. We cannot take the risk with our first three picks.

I don't see Hawthorn or Collingwood taking him as they don't need a player like him despite his potential, especially collingwood who have an abundance of HFF types. So maybe he could drop to our third round?

Also would anyone be against trading our two second round picks for a first rounder? So we could get Gartlett and Vlaunstin.

Would be more in favour for a player and second rounder for a first. Getting those two would be a bloody dream.

Say if Melbourne went in for caddy and asked for toy with him for pick 13 we then trade our two second round picks to gold coast for pick 13 which we then use on Vlaunstin(spelling?). This way Gold coast have that extra pick so use of depth as they already have enough star players plus they have O'meara and possibly whitfield or toumpas coming in this draft. They then use those two second round picks on getting depth players in the hope one turns into a star but so that they also have enough space in their salary(can only have so many good players until you go over).

I truthfully believe every team benefits from this trade.

Why take the Chance !!

Menzel is not the next Chris Judd or even the next J.O"Meara, He is a kid rated a top 10 (just rated)
His brother with 2 knee's and now he has done the same - Too Big a risk

Nelson's shoulders are tiny.

And if you ever met him, you'd understand why he didn't gel well with recruiters.

I am all for this!

Firstly, I'm no too sure if it is all rubbish but the whole Nahas attracting big $$ move, if we could could throw our second of the 2nd round picks in with this to get a mid first rounder, it would be like hitting the jackpot! (Is there any truth to this? Have not heard much in last 2 weeks).

Even our 2 2nd rounders for a first would be fantastic.

As it seems we have all but tied up Chaplin and Knights to fill needs, with apparently 1 more to come (I dunno who it is, sounds like half the league), we could draft two ripper mids that can grow into their roles. Very exciting.

Nice idea, but I seriously doubt any club would trade their 1st rounder for our two 2nd rounders. Don't forget our 2nd rounders (and subsequent picks) are very likely to slip further down the order during the Free Agency period due to compensation picks being handed out. We could well end up with something like 35 and 37 rather than 29 and 31. A club would be crazy to trade a 1st rounder for those.

Hadn't previously heard any reference to personality type issues (which you seem to be referring to there). Possibly explains it.

Can't see why a guy with good pace, great tank, good kicking, and an absolute ball magnet would miss being drafted completely because he was narrow across the shoulders...

the only good picks would be handed out for cloke and goddard the afl said that the compensation wouldn't be the same as the uncontracted players to GC/GWS compo

It had nothing to do with his shoulders.

He was very sick leading up to the draft camp and lost 8-9 kgs which had clubs worried.
