Are strongly opposed to using early picks on ruckman , they are so risky and their junior form is no way near as good a indicator as it is for others . Pick ruckmen up a 22-23 not as 18year olds , when you are a top 6 side .Would anyone be upset if we landed Grundy? If he somehow managed to land to us I would be absolutely ecstatic, much more than if we landed Garlett, Wines, O'Rourke, or even Macrae. I was just thinking about it.
I have it under pretty good authority that Melbourne are going for the best two midfielders, let's assume O'Rourke and Macrae. Someone here said before that WBD are pretty keen on Wines and I could also see them going for someone like Plowman as they have no good genuine KPD's other than Lake and Morris who are both 30 and are injury prone. Then Port go for Mayes, who is a SA boy, and even so, he would fit Port pretty well. Brisbane got Longer last year so I highly doubt that they'd look at getting another ruckman. So boom, Grundy.
Just to reiterate again, the top 10.

Grundy is a ready to go footballer, he is pretty physically mature. He can play up forward too, which would solve an immediate problem. Vickery can become a permanent CHF and we can give Grundy the same role that Vickery had this and last year. This works out in a few ways, the first being that if any of Maric or Vickery go down, we will have a ready-made replacement, not a Browne or Graham type. Secondly, this could turn out like a Cox-Naitanui combo with him and Maric. I mean, Grundy's tapwork is probably better than Naitanui's. Nic is a better athlete but not a better footballer. WCE have shown that if Cox and Naitanui are on fire, they are far more important than any other players. Thirdly, it solves our ruck-stocks problem. We'd have 3 genuine ruckmen/forward who are all excellent players.
Grundy for all we know, could be taken by GWS at 1, and is unlikely to come to us if GWS get any early picks from the MD. According to his coach, he has excellent work-ethic and is up in that Nic Naitanui/Matthew Kreuzer category for young ruckmen coming through the draft. Excellent talent, excellent player.

We would be silly not too take Grundy, it is still a need and is already somewhat developed and ready to go, will definately be a player from what ive seen, im sure melbourne are loving their decision not too take natanui
Grundy joins us and he will not get a game for at least 3 years . We need to get midfield depth ASAP , Collingwood, Geelong , Sydney and Adelaide have all proven that this is alot of opportunities to pick up top end ruckmen .Dont Agree RP !!
If a player like Grundy falls to our pick - We take him
Already been mentioned alot of times by most on the pd boards that grundy is a better ruckman tha nicnat/kruezer
Grundy can also play very well and both with vickery/maric can form a very very strong ruck combination.
We can get another 3 mids with later picks as this draft looks like it runs to 50 easily,There will be alot of midfield gems to be collected even in the rookie draft but players like grundy dont come around to your door often.
Carlton took Kruezer over Cotchin .We would be silly not too take Grundy, it is still a need and is already somewhat developed and ready to go, will definately be a player from what ive seen, im sure melbourne are loving their decision not too take natanui
Kruezer did a knee, Cotchin achillies etc has come good. Kruz will be a weapon.Carlton took Kruezer over Cotchin .

Where would Grundy got into our side within the next 3 years ?It hasn't harmed WCE with Naitanui. AA ruckman at only 22. Grundy has been rated higher than him. He becomes another midfielder when the ball hits ground.

Nic Nat being all Australian is absolute bullshit , he wasn't even close to being the best ruckman .
Disagree, think he is in no way ready made, he is a 200cm kid who has dominated at junior level often playing against kids with inferior size and development .If you fully read my previous post, Grundy is ready-made player. He can play as that ruckman-forward that Vickery has been playing, and Vickery can be that permanent CHF that we don't have. With this approach we can ease him into the ruck position so when he does take the no.1 mantle, he won't look out of place. He can take a mark and kick a goal. Trust me, having Riewoldt and 2, mobile 200cm+ forwards would be deadly for opposition.

Thankfully for us we haven't been hit by it.Slightly off topic, but am I alone in being disgusted at the ridiculous amount of concessions GWS have been given.
Freaking joke
It's hard to comprehend that all the other clubs agreed to these concessions.Slightly off topic, but am I alone in being disgusted at the ridiculous amount of concessions GWS have been given.

You could argue that trying to rebuild through these concession have hit us. I wonder who we would have got at 15 and 26 last year and 6 and 30 in 2010? But thankfully none of our big name players have been lured.Thankfully for us we haven't been hit by it.

the biggest issue i think they forgot was it was going to take a few years to come good so its the additional years of top draft picks that are garbage.
