I was just wondering if we could trade for 12 and 14 and the pick up Josh Simpson and Dayle Garlett. Playing both in our side would make us so fast and dangerous it would bring in the crowds like you wouldn't believe.

I'm just dreaming.......

Ps. Would give us cred in the Dreamtime game too!

Definitely would be all over 9 for 12 and 14, after looking at the top 10 the only way i can see any of O'Rourke/Wines/McCrae/Mayes getting to pick 9 is if someone reaches for a tall, wouldnt bank on it though as plowman will be the man that a club will take if they want a tall and ive accounted for him in my top 8.

Way i see it as the moment is something like this
1 GWS- Whitfield
2 GWS- Toumpas
3 GWS- Grundy
4 MELB- Wines
5 WBD- O'Rourke
6 WBD- Plowman
7 PORT- Mayes
8 BRIS- McCrae

That would leave us with a selection of vlastuin, stringer, garlett etc, 2 of these types of players will still be around at 12 and 14, if we could get garlett and vlastuin at 12, 14 and then lonergan and hrovat at 29 and 31 we would be almost set for mids.

Definitely gives us some sort of insurance if one of them doesn't work out.

Probably helps them both settle too. They look for each other, in a lot of the WA games I saw they along with Jack Martin passed the ball frequently to eachother. I just think we are not into these types of outside players. I think your Vlastuin types are what we look at for better or poorer.

Can't fault the club so I won't lol.

I'm so gosh darn excited for this draft, because there are so many potential outcomes, so many of which I would be stoked with. I don't see how, with such a plethora of talent available, we could stuff this one up (pick 9 at least). Can't wait to see which of these names will officially be tigers!

I'm starting to warm to Vlaustin. He would fill a need. There don't seem to be too many big bodied inside mids 187cm like him in this year's draft. A pretty safe selection. It's such a beautiful height and size for a midfielder especially if he has clean hands and is strong in the air. Could be like a Bartel.
I would still love Kennedy though. Richmond could get rid of Nahas, King and White with his inclusion.

We won't get Kennedy. For a start, we're simply not interested in him based on type/need. Second, have a read thru his player thread on the draft board. Seems he didn't interview well at all, and may have seriously damaged his chances of getting drafted. Certainly will put clubs off, anyway... Can't see him doing a Nelson (missed completely) but he will likely go to the Crows at pick ~18 odd.

This is a procedure that has been banned in France for several years. Respected orthopaedic surgeons I know stay away from it. I'm not sure why one would have used LARS on a 16 year old...

i know of a few who like it. i think it is a case by case thing however i dont like it on a 16yo kid. mind you it is funny how lars is bagged yet when a normal acl is performed and goes again it's a ah well 'bad luck'.

I suggest you guys look up Louis Herberts video on the AFL website. Looks like he could be handy pick up later on in the draft for who ever picks him up.

Would love if everyone overlooked him at we jagged him at 29.
Great thing about him is he already has an AFL body and good head on his shoulders. He is the type of player we like to draft.

He would love to play at Richmond too
Better than the alternatives
Gold Coast -Away from home
Gws -Sh!t hole blacktown
Port Adelaide - Sh!t Hole Adelaid (bogan team)
Melbourne - Rabble that just doesnt know if they are arthur or Marther
Footscray - Need i say more,Even lake doesnt want to stay any longer
Brisbane - Voss or should i say crazy vossy

Looked at the article about the calder cannons, it said in the description about Plowman being able to play in the middle... damnnnn

What article's that? Plowman looks a beauty.

it's a mix up of macrae, garlett and vlastuin
do we go for the x factor macrae who will certainly help our forward entries because it seems like he's an expert at finding targets inside 50
do we go for the x factor garlett with line breaking speed and good disposal?
or do we go safe and go with another solid citizen in vlastuin who gets those clearances but doesnt provide that athleticism

im getting kinda bored with solid citizens like ellis and conca from the last couple of drafts. it's time to get back to x factor. if and it'll most likely happen that we get vlastuin i'd like josh simpson, rory atkins or tim sumner with our 2nd round selections. MOOORREEEE X FACTOR!!!!!

With GWS most likely taking Whitfield and Toumpas it'll add more players to their midfield. Making up Greene, Ward, Scully, Adams, Coniglio, Hoskin-Elliot, Shiel, Sumner, Smith, Tyson, Toumpas, Whitfield + a couple more. It's time for Hartley to do his job and grab Sumner.

Gold Coast will fall when Ablett retires. Trust me.

Here what you are saying but I am not sure the Cats had any real X factor during their great run, just a whole lot of really good players. Therefore solid citizens that can really play will do just fine for me,

Hoping McCrae falls through to us, but also pretty keen on downgrading 9 to 12 & 14 if we can find the right player for GWS to consider it.

I too hope for this but GWS could well take Stringer and Menzel with those picks and those two are considered top 5 talents just injuries have stopped them from being so. GWS would be stupid to do it but if we did get the deal done we would be laughing.

Would love to be able to downgrade #9 to #12 and #14, but can't see it happening. However, if we can palm Gus of with #50 for #40 I'd like to see the following happen.

Picks are approximate yet to include FA compensations.
#9, #29, #31, #40, #68

#9. Nick Vlastuin (VIC – Mid/Def) Height: 187cm, Weight: 83kg
On the club short list with O'Rourke and Wines to my knowledge, however I think that Wines is a definite #4 and O'Rourke is firming to go to the Doggies. So this is who the club gets. More inside than most players in the pool, bigger body than most too, has that Stevie Morris desperation.

#29. Tim Sumner (SA – Mid/Fwd) Height: 187cm, Weight: 83g
This is where we can inject that X Factor that most of us feel we desperately crave. Could effectively play as a 3rd tall or a high half forward flanker, has height and speed.

#31. Matthew Haynes (VIC - Util) Height: 189cm, Weight: 76kg
Outside mid of the Shaun Grigg mold heightwise, also has except exceptional pace and a good kick.

#40. Cameron Symonds (WA – Ruck) Height: 205cm, Weight: 100kg
Mature aged, very big bodied ruck, big improver and knows what it's like to be overlooked, and has worked his arse off to get back into contention, that alone shows he has more commitment than Fungus.

I hope we bank our 5th pick for the PSD where I would like to see us pick a delisted player from another club, preferably another big body who can rotate through the midfield i.e a McNeil, Moore or Symes <-- not saying these are my wishes, just my examples, more mature players - delistees that may be worthy of another season.

Not knowledgeable enough to go into rookie picks. Have done so in previous post in previous weeks, but it's all guesswork. Wouldn't mind Crowder or Wallace though.

1. Dylan Grimes, 2. Brett Deledio 3. Dustin Martin 4. Shaun Grigg 5. Matt Dea 6. Jack Riewoldt 7. Shane Edwards
8. Jake Batchelor 9. David Astbury 10. Bachar Houli 11. Luke McGuane 12. Trent Cotchin 13. Alex Rance
14. Ivan Maric 15. Shane Tuck 16. Daniel Jackson 17. Ben Griffiths 18. Robin Nahas 19. Jake King
20. Tyrone Vickery 21. Reece Conca 22. Brad Helbig 23. Matt White 24. Jayden Post 25. Steven Morris
26. Tom Derickx 27. Nathan Foley 28. Brandon Ellis 29. Todd Elton 30. Matthew Arnot 31. Brett O'Hanlon
32. Chris Knights 33. Troy Chaplin 34. Nick Vlastuin 35. Tim Sumner 36. Matthew Haynes 37. Cameron Symonds
38. Jarred Moore
---------------------------------------------
39. Chris Newman (veteran - outside list)
---------------------------------------------
40. Ben Darrou 41. Steven Verrier 42. - rookie draft selection #1 43. - rookie draft selection #2
44. - rookie draft selection #3
---------------------------------------------
45. Gideon Simon (international rookie)

ROUND 1
B: Steven Morris, Troy Chaplin, Alex Rance
HB: Dylan Grimes, Ben Griffiths, Bachar Houli
C: Shaun Grigg, Trent Cotchin, Brett Deledio
HF: Chris Newman, Tyrone Vickery, Chris Knights
F: Dustin Martin, Jack Riewoldt, Shane Edwards
Foll: Ivan Maric, Nathan Foley, Shane Tuck
Int: Brandon Ellis, Reece Conca, Daniel Jackson
Sub: Robin Nahas

B: Jake Batchelor, Jayden Post, Matt Dea
HB: Nick Vlastuin, Tom Derickx, Matthew Haynes
C: Steven Verrier, Jarrad Moore, Matt White
HF: Brett O'Hanlon, Todd Elton, Tim Sumner
F: Luke McGuane, David Astbury, Jake King
Foll: Cameron Symonds, Brad Helbig, Matt Arnot
Int: Ben Darrou, Gideon Simon, 3 x Rookie Selections

A Ruck, A KPD and another (maybe smaller Harvey-like) mid with the 3 rookie selections and the list looks a treat.
The reserves mids are big bodied but by no means one paced. Richmond are now at a point where they struggle to name a 22 based on the depth of the squad, as opposed to years gone by where players where 'gifted' games.

Nice write up Dean, But i have a couple of issues with your selections at the Picks TBH
#9. Nick Vlastuin- I think pick#9 is reaching for this kid and looks more like a 15-25 range player with question marks about his outside game and more importantly his pace.

#29. Tim Sumner- Again a little too early and i believe if we did manage to get #40 , Tim would still be available at that pick, But agree we do need the pace and X-Factor he brings to the team

#40. Cameron Symonds -Rookie selection most probably,I cant see us putting another speculative Ruck on the main list with Dericks still there and Vickery,Maric - Too many

#31. Matthew Haynes- Really like Haynes hope we do take him
