12- Garlett
14- Vlastuin
32- Lonergan
34- Hrovat

Thats my ultimate draft, still really keen on garlett think he will add something we don't have and by all reports interviewed quite well. vlastuin and lonergan pretty straight forward
Hrovat is the one i really want, just think hes a gem from watching him play a few times this year

If you've only heard amazing things, I don't think you've looked hard enough. At the very least, a lot of people have question marks over how complete his recovery will be from the bad leg break, which I wouldn't lump in the "amazing things" basket ;)
Fair call mate..that's ur opinion but if he slides this year it's only because of his injury. This happens every year. I don't think he will slide that far. From what I've seen and read hes been pretty dam good of late after his comeback. Only time will tell but just remember this mention now that I think he will be an amazing a grader. If he's a flop then so be it and I'll admit my stupidity here..but I'm pretty certain he wot be. I'm just praying we can get him at 9. Who do you think are better options that are realistic for pick 9. Macrae?

I'd have a fair list of those I think will be available that I'd take first. If we downgrade then I'd be ok with him but still think there are better options. Macrae would be top of my list of possibilities at 9.

My opinion is that he could well become one of the best players from this year's draft. I don't have any major issues with what you first said, other than the fact that there has always been that element of doubt over whether his injury will have any ongoing impact on his game - so to say you've ONLY heard AMAZING things about him seems to be glossing over those concerns.

I'm a pretty conservative kinda guy, so I'd rather go with the guy with no major question marks, even if the raw talent may not quite be to the same level as a fully fit Stringer. That's just my opinion, and I reckon it could be the club's too.

My issue with Stringer is I seriously can't trust his leg. He just doesn't look right. I can't take a risk like that with our first pick.

He is a talent though. No one can deny that. Presence of no one else.

One question I'd like to put out to everyone is. Does anyone know the position of other clubs drafting resources ? that is full time drafting staff and how well are they funded ? As with us a few years back this will affect those who are drafting before us and who they take. IE have they been in a position to do there homework thoroughly or are they relying to an extent on the hype around players in the top 20 or further ? I think these things will have some impact on if some players RFC rates may slip to us. Over to you all.... Cheers in advance

Whoever's playing Carlton.
Not talking about high picks or even just the national draft but didn't I read somewhere here that we're keen on Shane Valenti from Port Melbourne?

No idea but you can work out the teams that are pretty ordinary. Melbourne, Port, Carlton (with 1st rounders), Dogs.

im not sure thats fair. its still a speculative auction. if we want guarantees fans should by a sidcrome socket set. some players however good their junior career just dont make it.

That's where it comes down to recruiting vs development. I think some of those clubs have reached for a few players and they haven't come off. To me, that's the recruiting.

Eg. Melbourne - Gysberts, Cook.
Dogs - Howard, Tutt.
Blues - Watson, Bootsma (early to call on him I know) Lucas I think is more development.
Port - Moore, Jacobs were reaches. Then their coaching has been terrible developing them.

Well, I've always had the opinion that Stringer is a bit of an asshole. Just his attitude has me worried, he seems to be selfish (in a bad way), and attacks teammates. He's a talent, that's for sure, but after the leg break he has been no better than just a 2nd rounder/early 3rd. The last time I saw him, he was still limping, which really had me worried. I'm very curious to know how well he interviewed, but I don't want him. If, and it's a big if, that he gets his body in check and grows some humility, then I believe he will be an excellent player, but I think Richmond will go with the safe option, a club like Sydney or Geelong would do him straight.

imo you cant define good/bad development as it also comes down to fitting into teams as well. if you look at rfc we drafted high quality juniors yet they didnt make it. fiora, tambling etc were high quality juniors and were EXPECTED to have long careers. its just we didnt develop them well or the players couldnt adapt to the afl. irrespective of draft position you still can be a bit player even if you dont reach the hights that were expected. no whether that means more money will identify this is the circumstantial aspect of it all.

Well Port Adelaide and Kangaroo's dont actually have any recruiters or Junior watchers anywhere, They made a decision 3 years ago to cut costs and to invest in other areas like paying their coaches

They have 3 major guides that help to make their decisions Emma Quayle's mock draft,Knightmare's 2012 mock & their last point of call is the Herald sun mock

not sure about other teams but I know that we are still way under resourced in this area. We have 3 fulltimers, collingwood have over 20.

talking rookie, jesse wallin a young exciting queenslander, would be a great pick up for us as small/medium defender, he's 183cm 79kg got running vertical leaps of 96 on each leg and standing of 82. 2.93 20m sprint. tests well
