Talking about fluidity in kicking action how do you see Macrae's kicking action. Theres something in it that I dont particularly like. I have raised this numerous times but no one really wants to answer. I like Macrae but I think there are better prospects out there. If we get Mayes we should all buy tattslotto tickets.

I'm not a fan of his technique too. It's one reason why I haven't raved about him. Gaz and cotch have everything inline. A really straight kicking action. Nothing wrong with it. Not as much leverage as some but it suits their posture over the ball.

I'd say Cotch and GAJ have great kicking techniques and often tell kids to watch them kick.

Their kicking action is a bit unorthodox, but they are in the top category for kicking in the competition. Deledio's kicking style is a bit strange too, but he would be in the top 5 in the AFL for kicking skills. If the kick hits the target then I don't have a problem,

As bigstyle tiger said above they will always try to straighten up front on to their targets which is a great kicking trait to have. Also their ball drop if very low which eliminates the distance for the ball to get off target before hitting the foot. Like I have said these are the two players I tell kids to watch as to me the have great styles. But then again as long as the kick hits the target that's all that really matters in the long run.

Just out of interest mate where are you watching the Garner stuff. Havent seen anything online
There's the Champs games that have been mentioned. He has a highlights package up and I got a copy of WA v VC. Just WOW!!! He was fantastic. Got a heap of the ball and slotted 3. Very good in the air. Pretty good defensive side to his game. Would have laid at least 5 tackles that game.

Nobody talks about my boy Pongracic no more.

Don't rule out Menzel to Port, they are big fans.

Pongracic I would have had in my extractor group with Lonergan/Hrovat and there is a chance both are gone and then I'd take Pongracic. Only concern I have is whether he is just a bully playing on kids half his size. For quite a while I was talking up Pongracic/Atkins combo in the 2nd round.

Word I'm hearing is Stringer won't get past the Dogs.

Might make the case for post and 6 stronger. No one will pick stringer up at 6(us or GWS), 7(Port) or 8(Bris) so he would slip to 9 and effectively the dogs get Post for free.

GWS would take Stringer for sure if they had pick 6. I'm hearing they want him badly, but don't want to spend pick 3 on him.

He is excellent in the air isn't he.

Sounds like you're a fan tigs! Admittedly I haven't seen a lot of him. Who would you liken him to, and how do you think he rates among other draft prospects this year?

Would you take Garner over say, Menzel? Or Mayes?

He sure is.

He has a lot of similarities to Fyfe and it's hard to ignore those comparisons with his flying for marks and solid contested game. Fyfe exploded at AFL level though so Garner has a fair way to go to reach those heights.

If all 3 were available I'd go:

1.Mayes
2.Garner
3.Menzel

On talent I'd rate them:

1.Menzel
2.Mayes
3.Garner

SHould add, if we get pick 6 from Dogs for Post and 9 and fail to get Tyson I'd be trading for 12 & 14 if GWS were keen. He'll be there at 12.

Sounds good, I'm warming to him :thumbsu:

I'm still somewhat interested in Jed Anderson too... I wonder if GWS would consider 9 for 14 + Anderson? Could still get a goodun at 14.

Could probably get Garner there still.

Yeah Garner/Vlastuin/Garlett/Simpson/Lonergan would all be there you'd think. Even an outside chance someone like Menzel could be there.

Personally I'd be ecstatic if we landed Anderson and Vlastuin with pick 9. I think we should be investigating this.

If we are actually keen on Garner/Vlastuin I'd even do 9 for 12 & 29. It's a freebie 2nd rounder effectively. Downside we don't get to see our player get his jumper presented on stage which is always good.

Haha, not much bearing on the long term you wouldn't think....

But yes, that's another trade I like the idea of. I really hope we exhaust all options with this pick

Haha yer I know I was only kidding. 29 would be handy as it comes before Port and means we could possibly swoop on Broomhead who I rate highly as that mid-sized utility.

Sam Colquhoun is very underated on this forum. Will be a terrific player. Recruiting isnt just about highlights or supposedly whose best, its also about who can fit in and character and a number of all the issues. For example if we traded 9 for 12 and 14, I wouldnt be against taking Colquhoun and Graham. Most in here would see that as a major reach but both boys would be terrific players. I wanted us to take them with our picks in the 30s if possible, but both are rising up the draft table. Ive been told Collingwood are gonna take Colquhoun with their first pick

Certainly if we had 2 first rounders I wouldn't mind Colquhoun and I doubt he'd get to our 2nd rounders. Probably best kick in the draft. What position do you see him playing at AFL level?

I see him doing the traditional Damien Hardwick apprenticeship. 2 years on a HBF then a move into the midfield rotation. Get Colquhoun now and we can probably trade Bachar Houli to GWS next year and get an extra pick in what really will be a super draft.

I will bet Graham does not go top 30.

Why would we trade Houli? We're aiming to win a flag in the next 2-3 years. You don't trade first-18 24yos in that situation.
