See where im coming from !!!

No not really.

All tigs was saying and I agree with is the best kids play forward as juniors because they are the best. Get them at AFL and they dont always develop as forwards but a lot develop as premium defenders.

If Griff become a 10 year CHB (i'm guessing thats who you are alluding too in your comment on Spencer) I couldn't care less if he was recruited as a forward and played as a forward.

This is how I see the first two rounds panning out... through rumour and research.

18. Collingwood Sam Colquhoun
19. Collingwood Nathan Hrovat
20. Adelaide Mason Shaw
21. Collingwood (GWS compensation - originally via Adelaide - Phil Davis) Jesse Lonergan
I really can't see the Pies going 3 midfielders(/smaller types if you wanna be picky) with their 3 picks, given they've effectively lost a tall forward.

If you get a 10 year good player... in any position, with any pick... you've done well. End of story, no matter what you pick them as, or how early - they've been a great pick.
Bit hard to see where all your talls fit together, IMHO, but you're in a good position with lots of options there.

Correct. A premiership CHB gets the same premiership medallion a premiership CHF gets. Who cares where they play if they play that we'll where the coaches put them then all is good in my books.

Dean has Richmond taking O'Rourke, what do you think about that?
He's my favourite in the draft. He won't go past Doggies unless they take Plowman and if they take Plowman then Brissy want O'Rourke. He won't last, hence I didn't bother writing him up. :D

Judging by some of the more recent phantoms I've seen, Mayes appears to be slipping down the order a touch... Dare I dream?

Anyone seen the video of him up on the AFL website? Seems a confident young man.

I think he'll be there unless Port take him.

Ok, so time to do picks 32 & 34. Still feel that the best players available will be mids/medium forwards. I'll add some highlights clips in for these guys once they are added on Youtube. If someone has some and can PM me a link I'll add them.

Rory Atkins

ATKINS-Rory-2012.jpg

Height: 186cm
Weight: 80kg
Where he fits at Richmond? He's a hit up half forward who can play through the middle. We obviously see this as a role we want to have in the 22 seems we recruited Knights. I think this kid could be his natural replacement. Unfortunately has an article and highlights clip on Port website.
What I like: First of all Atkins is a beautiful user of the footy so that's what instantly drew me to him. He was also part of the AIS-AFL Academy but his performances started to drop off and he was dumped. His biggest issue is his consistency but his best is very good and I'd back our new development team to get the best out of him, starting with building his tank which hopefully turns him into a 2-way player as offensively he is very good, defensively not so much. At the moment he plays more as an outside midfielder but I think he has a lot of potential to develop his inside game to a high level where he can burst from the pack and deliver well to the forwards. Very much a damaging goal-kicking mid if he is developed properly.
Kicking/Character/Competitive (win own ball)? Fantastic kick who is capable of winning his own ball though would like to see him do it more often. Not sure on his character as haven't asked anyone who'd know.
Highlights:

Tim Broomhead

BROOMHEAD-Tim-2012.jpg

Height: 183cm
Weight: 74kg
Where he fits at Richmond? Broomhead is a utility so we could fit him in just about anywhere. Can play back/forward/mid (wing to start) before developing into a full-time mid who can rest anywhere. As Tigerbob has said Port Adelaide likely to snap him up but can't see them taking Atkins and Broomhead. I just want one of them here.
What I like: His versatility is what I like best about Broomhead. Can just plonk him anywhere on the field and he will play well. I think long term if we could get some meat on his bones he will be a very good inside midfielder. Has good skills, can win a lot of his own ball. Has shown some very strong signs of development over the year. Just keeps getting better and better to the point where he likely won't be available. I can see his career panning out similar to a Beams/Sidebottom at the Pies where he starts as a forward and develops into a midfielder and a pretty good one. (Maybe not same level)
Kicking/Character/Competitive (win own ball)? Without being elite he is a good kick, is by all accounts a high-character kid and can certainly win a lot of his own ball even though it will take him a while before becoming the inside mid I project him to be.
Highlights:

Nicholas Graham

GRAHAM-Nicholas-2012.jpg

Height: 182cm
Weight: 76kg
Where he fits at Richmond? Inside midfielder/Potential tagger. Could see him starting his career on a HFF as a defensive forward before becoming our tagger or an inside mid in his own right.
What I like: Graham is a very good contested ball winner and for an inside midfielder has an impressive turn of speed. One thing that really stands out for me is his tackling/defensive game. IMO he is already at the elite level. Just a ferocious attack on the man and hits hard. This is the reason I can see him potentially becoming a quality tagger at the next level. For a guy standing just 182cm he is also a handy mark up forward so can be damaging when rested their.
Kicking/Character/Competitive (win own ball)? Super competitive kid and has leadership ability so ticks those 2 boxes while his kicking is solid while not elite it is still at a high enough level that he'd be someone we pick.

Tim Sumner

SUMNER-Tim-2012.jpg

Height: 187cm
Weight: 78kg
Where he fits at Richmond? I've said this multiple times on here but I think he'd be what Troy Taylor never became. Rangy 4th tall forward who can take a hanger, push up the ground and use his speed. Has elite foot skills which is something Taylor never had.
What I like: I'm drawn in by his physical traits. He has a great combination of height, speed, agility, leap which makes him a very damaging forward/midfielder. He is also a super kick of the footy, and would be able to hit Jack and Tyrone on the lead all day long. For a late pick-up he has an elite run and carry game where he can just burn off opponents at will. Whilst in the air he has a huge leap and can take big pack marks. What he lacks is consistency. Kicked 8.2 one game for WWT whilst other games you'll hardly know he's there. Having said that if he was a complete package he wouldn't be a 2nd rounder onwards. I think he is Lewis Jetta's uncle too as a little sidenote.
Kicking/Character/Competitive (win own ball)? Has elite kicking skills and is capable of winning his own ball although that's not really what we'd be using him for anyway. Only question I have over him is that his brother got homesick and left Sydney after one year.

Jason Pongracic

Jason+Pongracic+JjSt2vp_Z_mm.jpg

Height: 183cm
Weight: 85kg
Where he fits at Richmond? Huge inside midfielder who body size is ready to go.
What I like: Just a fantastic competitor that Dimma would be in love with from day one. Big-bodied inside midfielder who smashes in hard and can win a lot of his own ball. I think his upside for next season is huge seems he's been playing hurt this year. Due to his hip injury he has played a lot up forward and been able to hit the scoreboard effectively. Would add a lot of versatility to the team.
Kicking/Character/Competitive (win own ball)? Good kick for an inside midfielder and often makes good decisions which helps hit targets regularly. Super competitive with huge attack on the ball and man and from memory is a co-captain of Dandenong so is a high-character guy (even though he's a Pies fan :p)

Would be fantastic if Wright managed to find his way to one of 2nd rounders. So much pace and attacking in his game.

I don't mind Wright either tbh. Might do a write up and add him in the 2nd rounders. How do you see his midfield potential? He's big enough and could be damaging bursting out of packs. Think he'd be at least a 50/50 chance to reach 32.

I think he'll definatley develop into a full time mid. So hard at the contest and very good one on one defensively. I love the way he hits stoppages at top speed or atleast in motion.

Will be a very good get IMO but as you say is only a chance to make it to our 2nd rounders

Screw it I'll do 43 now. Boredom!! :D
First choice would be to hope Pongracic falls to here.

Samual Lowrie

lowrie-samual-8942.jpg

Height: 187cm
Weight: 82kg
Where he fits at Richmond? Tall midfielder who is capable of playing both inside and outside. Could see Lowrie playing on the opposite wing to Grigg and I think his tank is already good enough to do this.
What I like: Really hard-running midfielder from South Fremantle. Has a good mix of inside ball winning ability to go with his hard running outside game. Averaged about 24 possessions in the WAFL colts this year and nearly a goal a game. Unfortunately missed a number of games late in the season as he broke his collarbone. Also broke his leg last year. Drink some bloody milk boy!! For some reason only got a state screening invite which may see him available here.
Kicking/Character/Competitive (win own ball)? Another whose kicking is good but not great and is very competitive on the inside and can win a lot of his own ball as well as being able to play as a receiver.
No highlights found.

Spencer White

1698859_1_M.jpg

Height: 195cm
Weight: 86kg
Where he fits at Richmond? There is still a gaping hole at CHF which will likely get filled by Elton, Griff or Astbury but wouldn't be a bad idea to get another on the list just in case.
What I like: Fantastic kick for goal and great contested mark. Moves really well for a big fella as well. This is the kid who has been compared to Buddy which while a talent he certainly isn't in the Buddy league nor really style despite being a good athlete he's got nothing on Buddy in that regard but I'd say he's a better contested mark and a better kick for goal.
Kicking/Character/Competitive (win own ball)? Very good kick especially for goal which is something we desperately need. Pretty determined kid who has overcome asthma problems this year and has a very good contested game in the air.
Highlights:

Steven Baldasso

BALDASSO-Steven-2012.jpg

Height: 183cm
Weight: 73kg
Where he fits at Richmond? Another inside/outside midfielder. Could see him starting off a wing while he builds up and eventually becomes a midfielder.
What I like: Didn't test very well for speed but he looks/plays quick on the field. Fantastic kick of the footy which gets him a spot here as we need more good kicks of the footy who can win his own footy. Needs to bulk up but already has a nice contested game. Unfortunately didn't play for SA in the Champs which means he's not a big name but I think he could be a bit of a steal around here.
Kicking/Character/Competitive (win own ball)? Baldasso is a great kick of the footy and has a very good inside game despite his lack of size. Haven't had a chance to ask about his character yet but should tick that box and could have seen him as a bit of a wtf who is Helbig selection if I didn't keep banging on about him. :D
No highlights found.

Emmanuel Irra

139670-irra.jpg

Height: 179cm
Weight: 80kg
Where he fits at Richmond? Irra is a bit of a utility who can add a bit of x-factor to our team. Can play half back, wing, half forward. Wherever we need a hole filled we could develop him and use his footskills.
What I like: His dual-sided foot skills for a kid who hasn't grown up playing the game all his life. They are amazing. Has already been playing some SANFL seniors for South Adelaide so has played against men. Has huge potential and could be a star which at pick 43 would be worth the punt. Very hard to tackle due to his combination of speed and agility. We do lack x-factor in our side and this kid would fix that up.
Kicking/Character/Competitive (win own ball)? By all accounts is a great kid who is very very determined. His footskills are amazing and my only knock would be on his ability to win his own ball. End of the day though that's not what he'd be selected for.
Highlights:

Tigs you know your stuff! It's fantastic.

I mentioned this last week but no one really responded, what are your views on Adam Marcon?

TBH I've avoided watching Carlton reserves as much as possible so have seen very little. :D

Looks promising as a mature aged rookie. Very thin but looks like he has potential to put on weight. What do you think his skills are like? Very good leader from what I've heard.

He's a mate of mine. The most quality kid. Has such a great head on his shoulders.

As skillful and tough as they come.

Came out of the TAC cup this year, to go on and win the Blues seniors B&F and he has won the Ford Coaches Player of the Year award. For a first year, 19 year old player, that's super impressive and has outperformed kids his age (and older) who are on AFL lists. Surely deserves a spot somewhere.

Ok so now we need someone who has a pick before GWS at 12 to come out and say they will select Kurt Tippet. Would love for the blues to somehow clear some capspace and say we will take Tippet at 11 forcing the Giants if they are serious about getting Tippet to use a top 3 pick. Might be all a bit of games but it'll be in everyones interest if the Giants use a higher pick to make more guys slide. Brisbane might also say the same thing. Fingers crossed peoples.

Interested to see that Brogan will play on for GWS next year, could they overlook Grundy. That would really throw the cat amongst the pigeons regarding the draft.

Not sure that's necessary. Assuming Stringer (who Footscray love apparently) and Plowman (and Plowman could be a replacement for Newman) goes before Richmond's pick, would Richmond really be disappointed with Toumpass, Grundy, Whitfield, Wines, Mayes, Macrae or O'Rourke?

This seems to be the common logic now. Having looked at Richmond's form sans Foley, Vlastuin in the middle is looking good anyway.

Yeah i see what your saying. Just more choice the better IMO :D

Oh yeah and FWIW i would love the Bulldogs to go back to Footscray
