i thought he went to gws. kkp isnt he?

Nope.....at Claremont. Been playingKPF and a little in the ruck from what I can tell and has had a very good year. He's only 20 as well. Was on Adelaide's list in 2009 but was delisted. Might be worth a punt this year considering there doesn't seem to be much in the way of KPP's.

Ideal result would be Wines/Vlastuin/O'Rourke with first round pick (Wines likely gone by our pick :(), Atkins/Pongracic/Hrovat/Jaksch (Atkins and Jaksch seem to be firming as first rd candidates). Third round I have no idea! Fourth rd and beyond (including rookie/PSD) would be nice if guys like Tom Lee and Shane Nelson are available (Knightmare has Lee going in the 2nd rd in his mock... maybe hope for 3rd round?).

Could really build some great depth in this draft! :thumbsu:

Has he been playing well the last couple of weeks tigs?
Yer, he's consistently in the bests every week. He probably dropped off from last year to early part of this year but is starting to produce every week. Nice left foot on him and can play inside and outside.

TFLUA managed to grab him 2nd round of the mock draft on the Phantom Drafts board.

So far we have Kennedy, Atkins, Lowrie.

I'd personally take O'Rourke over the other 2 and wouldn't use a top 10 pick on Vlastuin.

From what I've been told Atkins will be a 2nd rounder and as much as I love the way Hrovat goes about his footy I don't think he's quick enough at his height to go 2nd round. He will be a bargain to whoever gets him late though. Some talk he's borderline rookie pick. Bloody Toady took Pongracic for Port in the mock draft the pick before our compo.

Can't believe Lee didn't go last year. I get that he wasn't playing a settled position but his talent hasn't just appeared now.

Correct. I had to take our next pick. Scrolled the list about 5 times to see if I was blind and couldn't see Lowrie. :p

Seeing those names has me really hoping we don't consider trading any of our picks. 3 very very good kids there, and if we get in another ruck/defender via free agency we're sorted!

I'm getting the feeling that the love for Tom Lee might grow exponentially leading up to the draft if he continues his form (and considering that decent KPP's are will be a bit of a rarity this year). Do you think if we want him that we'd have to take him with one of our 2nd round picks?

Nah I doubt it. He's playing good footy but it's very rare a 22 year old goes that early. Probably 3rd rounder. But you just never know. It's only going to take 1 club to want him that early and you can't deny he's producing.

O'Rourke, Pongracic, Atkins and Lee is it then

And I'll still hope that our Foley MkII (Nelson) is available late in the piece... Really could largely address our midfield depth issues in the one draft if we pick well!

Shane Nelson was hyped up on BF and the AFL, I wanted us to draft him but he didn't even make it as a bloody rookie. Disappointing from football clubs not picking him up, if somebody doesn't pick him up i'll be pissed. I'll be even more pissed if we don't pick him up, he's 3cm taller than Kennedy who people want as our 1st round pick.

How has he been this season?

NAB AFL Draft Combine: Nelson was limited in testing at the combine, but what he did do was impressive. His 2.87s time in the 20m sprint saw him ranked equal third overall and his agility test time of 8.13s saw him finish inside the top 10. He rounded out an excellent meeting by finishing first in the Nathan Buckley kicking test with a score of 29 out of 30.

Jason Phelan says: Nelson didn't participate in the endurance testing at the combine, but his workrate in a game setting is unquestioned. His ability to work to multiple contests from start to finish sees him accumulate plenty of the ball, with his clearance work a feature. He performed at a consistently high level in a WA team that struggled in division one company at the under-18 championships this year, and his ability to run and carry the ball will make him an attractive prospect for a club late in the first or early in the second round.

Kevin Sheahan says: Nelson averaged 22 disposals at the national under-18 championships. He is an effective user of the ball who works tirelessly. Has speed, can play midfield and move forward and kick goals. From Edgewater Woodvale JFC.

In his own words: I'm a midfielder who can run all day. I can read the play well which allows me to find a lot of the football. I also have the ability to go forward and kick goals.

what's there to lose? run all day like a ben cousins, good kick, good speed, good agility like a foley and cousins combined

There was/is obviously a knock on him... but as you say, many respected phantom drafters held him in high regard (just noticed Jason Phelan had him as a potential late 1st/early 2nd round selection... for him to miss out completely seems quite strange). His form in the WAFL has been good this year from what I hear. Reckon he could be a cheap but handy depth midfield player.

Off top of my head he's about 178cm only, not a great kick but not a bad one either. Can just throw it on the boot carelessly at times. Other knock on him was that he got really sick from memory and lost 8-10kg which when you barely weight 70kg to start with that's not going to help. :p

Nelson and Marley Williams were big favourites of mine last year. Thought both would get drafted, both didn't although Marley did get a gig on the rookie list at Collingwood. He seemed to turn out ok too. A lot of recruiters have got it all wrong and recruit for a variety of reasons and miss the simple. Can he play football?

Both these guys can, Nelson will be another that may be overlooked then get picked up as a mature age player and everyone wonders "why didn't he get picked up at 18"? Crazy.

Reminds me of Sam Mitchell in close with his evasiveness and quick hands and vision. He also has a great motor and running power. Sure he needs to bulk up, but he is a young kid that has serious football talent. His kicking is adequate but not brilliant, but he is predominately an inside ball winning midfielder that can make every contest. Very high football IQ.

Good to hear he is doing well and hopefully will get drafted this year...

Pretty much the same height as Foley, and from all descriptions I've read, sounds like a very similar type of player.

Interesting you say not a great kick... he was the top performer in the Nathan Buckley kicking test. Suggests perhaps it could be more his decision making - throwing it on the boot in a rushed fashion rather than being composed enough to take his time? Or the other possibility is that the Buckley kicking test is BS

I think you will find it's the latter part. Buckley's a muppet. :p There's no pressure on them to hit a target. Clubs would base whether they can kick well off games and don't really pay attention to the test. They may go 'ok, Nelson got top score, let's go over all his vision and check out what we've missed' and then make a decision whether they were wrong or the test is a joke. :p
