Let's talk about Jake Stringer.
Hideous break of his leg last year, but came back pretty well.
Surely won't be there at 29. 9-worthy? Absent that leg injury, we wouldn't get a look at him even then
He's turning into the Kavanagh of last year such is his hype.

If Grundy is available at pick 9 do we take him? For me it is a no brainer to take him but I know many want midfielders. I feel we need a first round ruck to develop under Maric, not a late pick or pre season speculative pick to try and develop into a ruck
Jackson & Cameron would be killed by tiger supporters if they passed on GRUNDY if he was available, we are desperate for a pure ruckman & with Vickery would solve our ruck problems for the next 12 years - NO BRAINER

I love the sound of Stringer , alot of experts rated this kid as top 3 but due to the break has dropped in the rankings but i would grab him, His a 191cm 90kg Midfielder thats top end talent and ready to go - Very Pav like from reports and alot of x-factor about this kid & lives football.

Great for our rotations when you add Stringer with Cotchin,Martin, delidio

I'm living in Dream-land. But I want Kennedy with #9. I think we could strike a deal with GCS -Third for Nicholls and second, and hope Vlastuin slips to it (#25), and then pick up Stringer with #29.

Shut up and let me have my moment.

Maybe i am reading this wrong , But why would GC give us Nicholls + 2nd rounder for our 3rd round pick ?

Also if your going to dream - Try
#9 Grundy
#29 Stringer
#31 Vlastuin
#50 McBean

I knew something was wrong :(

Would take those four in a heartbeat.

But not sure I'd take two ruckmen, and I'd like some midfield speed.

McBean is not just a Ruckman , More a Big Running CHB from reports - 5 years time it would look something like this when Maric is retired.

Ruckman -Grundy
Back Ruck - McBean(whilst playing CHB)
Foward Ruck -Vickery (whilst Playing FF/CHF)

What A Dream !!

I feel there is a real chance Grundy may make it to us. Looking at the sides between us and Grundy there is:

GWS - Won't blink in taking Whitfield
GCS - Have Day, Nicholls, Gorringe, Smith. Not an area they need to strengthen
Dees - Jamar is 29 so they may think along the same lines as me but with Fitzpatrick and Spencer probably don't need to for a couple of years yet but do have two picks. One is taken with Viney but still don't think they will take a ruck
Dogs - Again, two picks but with Cordy and Roughead don't really need a developing ruck
Port - Renouf, Redden and Lobbe. Not an area they need to strengthen with a first round ruck but may have a look
Brisbane - Strengthened with a first round ruck last year. Have Leuenberger as well. Don't need a ruck

Really, I think unless there is a trade for a low pick the current clubs below us don't need a developing ruck too much. Dees are probably the danger as Fitzpatrick hasn't been sighted much. Spencer and he have only had 10 games between them since 2009/2010

Tigs2010 what do you think of Lachie Hunter?

I like him as a tough half forward flanker. Has neat disposal and from what I've seen puts in a good shift defensively. Do you think he is worth a second rounder?

Whilst you make good points and it all makes sense, clubs do not pass on a guy like Grundy. I have him in the top three talents, I reckon Port take him for sure and maybe the Dees and Bulldogs who have two picks. He is better than what they have and will be one of the best ruckman in the league.

I understand what your saying, if it does happen, we couldn't pass it up even though we need more midfield depth.

Pretty much my feeling as well. Being a South Aussie Port will look at him even more I think. I am dreaming/hoping a bit. Hope he slides like Longer did last year.

The other factor is the mini draft. GWS could potentially end up with picks 1, 2 & 3. At worst, you would think 3 of the top 6. GWS will take him with their second pick if he's still available.

Good point. Yeah he won't drop down below 5 I wouldn't think.

Would be a wet dream if it did happen. He is a gun and a level above Longer.

You're right. I did forget about the mini draft. Will any of the bottom clubs trade their first pick this year though?

I disagree with the above.

GWS need a ruck and will trade a mini pick to melbourne or dogs. They will then get Grundy.

Demons have two picks one will go on Viney or a mid the other on Grundy.

Port need a ruck

With rumours us getting Mitch Banner, he is a hard nosed inside midfielder, I am again more leaning towards getting the thing we lack in pace and class into our line up.

Watching more videos of Championship games, the guys that I think will be around, I would love Kennedy or Gartlett. Pace, skill, class and the dreaded x factor. These two have it and can you imagine that into our line up.

Heard a rumour that we were very interested in Nick Vlastuin but not sure how accurate that is.

I posted a couple of pages back about Hunter. I'd take him with a 3rd round pick, no problems - I'm not sold that he has enough strings to his bow to go second round.

Also - I wouldn't be taking Stringer with 9.

Tigs, TV and Tigerbob - would you take him at 9?

I'd bid a 3rd. Think we can do better with a 2nd and get a more pure midfielder. Problem is I think the Bulldogs would use their 4th to match that.

Wouldn't go near him at 9. I still stand by my opinion that I think he is slow and a pretty ordinary kick. As a midfielder he's also a bit of a bully. Having said that he is huge so he could probably bully players at AFL level too. All that before you get to the fact he still limps after the horrific broken leg.

I wouldn't be againt us trading the pick for a top player from the last 3-4 drafts tbh.

Pick 9 for Caddy & Toy !!

I have all those concerns and a few more. Wills himself onto the ball offensively and makes up for his lack of speed, but gets found out defensively where he perhaps doesn't work so hard and his lack of pace really hurts him.
Who Stringer?

Me personally, no. Think there is still a few questions I have in regards to him. I have different players ahead of him who we could take at that pick. He is a talent though and my answer would probably been different if we had pick 15.

I don't think i'd take him before pick 25. But he's got some exceptional qualities.
