Jackson & Cameron would be killed by tiger supporters if they passed on GRUNDY if he was available, we are desperate for a pure ruckman & with Vickery would solve our ruck problems for the next 12 years - NO BRAINER

I love the sound of Stringer , alot of experts rated this kid as top 3 but due to the break has dropped in the rankings but i would grab him, His a 191cm 90kg Midfielder thats top end talent and ready to go - Very Pav like from reports and alot of x-factor about this kid & lives football.

Great for our rotations when you add Stringer with Cotchin,Martin, delidio
Sorry Gun but stringer is nothing like PAV . He has very very little agility , limps like a 80 year old who uses a walking frame and is ordinary below his knees . Before the leg , he had some similar traits to PAV . His straight line pace and when kicking in a steaight line is fine anything bar straight line and both his pace and kicking turn to shit real quick.
Similar to those who thought this was going to be a super draft , the call was made on him being a top 3 player , by some , way to early .
I was happy if we picked him up with our 2nd rounder weeks ago , but now given he didn't improve during the later part of the season, I think using a 2nd rounder would even be risky although I have no doubt he'll be taken somewhere in the 17-22 area .

I don't think i'd take him before pick 25. But he's got some exceptional qualities.

I have him at number 18 on my list at the moment, I expect him to drop slightly when Combine results come and a few rise. I always have a top 60 that I mainly keep to myself. Last year I remember having Marley Williams at Pick 26 and Shane Nelson at pick 29 and both were not picked up in the ND but Shane Nelson not at all. All a matter of opinion really, remember showing my list to a recruiter last year and he disagreed heavily on some but looking at how some of those boys came on, I got some of it right. I also got a lot wrong, hence why I am not a recruiter! Don't see enough games to be fully knowledgeable.

I like a few of his qualities very much. Competitor. Lives for a contest and will sacrifice his body to win a contest. He has great footy smarts and is one of those kids that were just born to play the game. His leg break was unfortunate. He was last year a top 5 talent, but even without the leg break a few have improved so much that I would of expected him to drop anyway. Maybe not as much as he has done but yeah, the leg break was one of the worst seen.

I maintain that Ben Kennedy is one of the purest players in the draft, the way he strikes the ball, his skill set, smarts and pace, I am glad he is not 180cm because we would not have a chance at getting him. He is the big sleeper for me. The guy along with Gartlett and maybe O'Rourke that may get to pick 9 that could be top 5 players. On Kennedy (he is on my mind as I was watching a SA game and he was starring) I have no doubt he will be a top line player at AFL level. Devon Smith showed towards the end of the year, his size probably made him drop but he will be a gun, well, Kennedy is even better than him. I know Frank had an interest in Smith last year, so hopefully we will with Kennedy. If I was Port and Toumpas didn't drop, then Kennedy is the one I would take. Yes that high.

Bowden and Jones from Tassie are both good chances to be picked up, both very good players.

Really hope we pick up Kennedy/Garlett/Menzel. We don't have any super quick players, and these guys obviously fit the bill. Speedy half forwards who can go in the midfield with plenty of X factor.

I also believe this is an area we need to improve and the three you mention are beauties, but Menzel's injuries scare the hell out of me.

Wactching the Vic Metro vs WA NC game, gee whiz Gartlett showed a heap. His ability to spread, get the ball, pass it and burst to receive it again shows he has terrific workrate and mental strength to go along with his dazzling skill, pace and class. A few times they ignored the secondary run, but watching it closely it was brilliant to watch. O'Rourke was classy early and a smooth mover, good decision maker and his workrate was great also. Everytime I see Kennedy I think, yep, he's the one, ditto for Gartlett. Cannot split them.

Imagine having either of them on the MCG along with Cotchin, Martin and Deledio. Icing on the cake type. We are at that stage.

If Garlett is anything like Harley Bennell then he would be sensational. I haven't seen any vision or watched him play (is there any vision?). Would love that outside player that can hurt the opposition like a Smith from the hawks or Hill from Freo.

Haven't seen any vision personally, but I've seen him referred to as the closest thing to Cyril since Cyril.

should we look at picking up Shane Nelson this year? assuming he nominates of course.
I think so. That said, considering we didn't take him last year, something would have to have changed you'd imagine for us to consider him this year. Has put some good WAFL form together from what I understand, and we'd be talking about a late pick, if not rookie list.

He's definitely that type who is very outside, his spread is exceptional, his pace electric and left footed kicks are great. Can do the miracle too. If you watch his goal against SA I think you will see what I mean.

Go to the AFL site and watch the Championship games, I think they are there. I recorded all the games and have watched them all, a couple of times now and was lucky to obtain some tapes from recruiting mates of games that were not recorded on Foxtel.

I personally think with us ramping up our development department, we shouldn't be scared in taking a Garlett type who if developed right could be the best taken out of this draft. He has all the tools and tricks, in the right environment could be anything. If you want to watch highlights of what he can do, watch the start of the third quarter in the Vic Metro vs WA game at Etihad stadium. He, Simpson and Jack Martin brought WA back into the game and it is really pleasurable viewing. Would kill to get Jack Martin, unfortunately we won't. Gartlett is a good get at pick 9.

Thanks for that. Sounds an interesting prospect.
There's quite a few I like that I haven't put in my Phantom Draft on that board that I'm saving up for later in case I participate in the official one they hold over there. Some are starting to get a mention though so will be interested to see where a few of them go on draft day. Baldasso for example could be a guy we take at pick 29 and people will complain because he hasn't been talked up at all on BF but he would be well worth it there.

Probably means that he's a gun then:D

i want him too but there seems to be talk about him not having broad enough shoulders or not having enough tools to get him a spot

I think you make a great point on our expanding development dept. Pair Garlett up with a fellow WA boy in Rance as a mentor and I think we'd have a solid base for him to build on.

I posted a couple of pages back about Hunter. I'd take him with a 3rd round pick, no problems - I'm not sold that he has enough strings to his bow to go second round.

Also - I wouldn't be taking Stringer with 9.

Tigs, TV and Tigerbob - would you take him at 9?

3rd rounder for Hunter would be fair but our 2nd is too low for him even though he really does play that HFF/Mid role to a great standard.

I know I've said I'd take Stringer with our first previously but I think at 9 there will simply be better options available.

If we were to swap our two 2nd rounders for a late first then I'd be happy to take him. I think Vlastuin will be a very good player but a part of me hopes we go for someone who can bring something different to the team like a Kennedy, Garlett, Mayes or Menzel and then go for the solid soldier types with our 2nd rounders ie. Graham, Atkins, Wright, Pongracic, Temay, Hrovat and Marschall.
