From what has transpired re. the draft and delistings and about to delist...tipping we go into the draft and pick up mids with first 2 picks, a KPP with the next and another project ruckman with our last pick...which IMO is a good balance moving forward..we should always pick up a speculative ruck project with our latter picks...we have to get one right one day..
I think we will rookie a state league player. Personally don't rate the rucks at 43. Only junior one I find worthwhile is Grundy.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Ellis get quite a bit of midfield time next year. But I agree, midfield depth will be a priority - but at the same time, important to take one KPP a year, in case Griffiths, Vickery, Astbury and Elton don't pan out as we hope.

Remember though, not many do have to pan out. I think Grimes will come out good, he just has to work out his injuries. Him with Rance and Chaplin should have the KPDs sorted. Now it's down to KPFs, Riewoldt is fine, Vickery I think can make it. That leaves not that many spots to fill. For mine Richmond probably stocked up on KPPs in recent years knowing that the giants and suns would sweep the KPP cupboard clean. Now that's over, Richmond should modify itself and draft smalls now.

I'm more keen on getting a ruckman than a KPP, I think we're well stocked for KPPs. I think if we're getting a tall, I'd like for it to be a mature aged ruckman, so we can have five ruckman on the list, which is enough for me. The rest could easily be smalls.

If we take a KPP then Harley Walshe is an interesting prospect as a defender and Spencer White as a forward. Thoughts on them? Like/Dislike?

Broke his collarbone. He's certainly another in that range. Only got a state screening invite so not sure how highly regarded he is by recruiters.

Two I'd very much look at. Chris was a Spencer fan before most, and I only got a look at him late in the season - but he was very good. Think he's got quite a bit to play with.

Harley Walshe's size makes him a really intriguing prospect. Probably the type the Tigers could do with an extra one of.

Sean Gregory, Alex Howson and Nick Rodda are 3 others I'd like to think we'd look at late if they're there.

You mean it's either praying that Grundy falls to 9 or picking up someone like Hannath in the PSD or rookie draft? If so I agree that makes no sense. The success rate of picking up a young ruckman later than say pick 30 is pretty low. Better to try those gambles later in the draft or even at the rookie draft.

Walshe is the one for me with his height. I also think he will fill out far better than Gregory. Rodda I really like but I think we need that taller no.1 type who can match up on the Petrie's/resting rucks of the future. I only saw Spencer early in the year and he was poor but as I've said in the last week or so his asthma certainly explains that. TBH I'd still prefer to go the 4 mids and hope a young KPP is still available by the rookie draft which is always possible or take a mature ager like Haretuku/Hardy to fill the gap immediately.

Correct. I doubt Grundy gets to us but I'd snap him up if he does as it would solve that problem for good.

Otherwise I'd go Hannath/Currie whoever is available in the rookie draft. Of the young rucks Fort is probably the best ruck but he's very thin and probably lucky to be ready by time Maric is retired. :o

Which pick would you use for someone like Hannath or Currie? And this is a question to people in general: the afl site has us picks 92, 110 and 118, they're very late picks, will they be actually used? Will they turn into PSD pick/s?

I'd just like to say that I like where Richmond is heading and I really think we should push for finals next year.

We won't use any picks after 43. As it stands we can't even use that unless we delist someone. I'd take Hannath/Currie first rookie pick if available.

Currie will go ND I imagine. Hannath/Fort could be worth a look, but would they be any better than say Browne on the rookie list? I'm certainly not against getting the ranga back for some ruck insurance.

He's certainly the other possibility.

I see Kurt Tippett may be going into the Draft. That's exciting. Wonder what he would look like in orange."

How do we think this may affect draft if GWS were to take Tippett with 1 of the first 3 picks. Would they also take Grundy? Who slides??

Sheedy is a sh!t stirer !!

I personally dont think they would take him with the first 3 selections but if he was there at #12 they would take the risk, Tippet is in a no win situation really - he must bite his tongue stick his tail between his legs and go to GWS if they take him.

Really? Because I have Richmond already getting rid of seven players in Graham, McDonald, Miller, Moore, Browne, Webberley and Connors, which is seven, and bringing in Chaplin, Knights and Edwards, which is 3.

Pick 9 - McDonald
Pick 32 - Miller
Pick 34 - Moore
Pick 43 - Graham

Edwards - Browne
Knights - Webberley
Chaplin - Connors

Sure, if by my calculations, Richmond wants another pick, they'll need to delist someone else. But pick 43 is still live isn't it?

Miller was a rookie. So would be replaced on the rookie list.

I almost had a heart attack, I didn't read it properly and for a second thought you were suggesting we re-draft McDonald, Miller, Moore and Graham with our first 4 picks.:p

My first 3 pics all mids with a mixture of inside ball winning ability and outside run....last pic KPF

Pic 9 - I wanted Wines but think he'll go to the Dees so Vlastuin/Macrae
Pic 32 - Hrovat/Simpson/Towers
Pic 34 - Broomhead/Atkins
Pic 43 - Spencer White (power forward with skill & pace)

I love how we all watch a few highlight reals and become experts ;)

So that said on the footage ive seen so far im a little torn on who i would take at 9. Initially i really liked the sound of Vlaustin and after watching his highlights nothing much has changed. Funny thing is when i was watching it the only knock i had on him is he looked a little short. Must of been pissed when i was watching it cause says hes 187cm which isnt short, haha

The other one im really keen on is Garner. Love his attack on the ball in the footage ive seen. A little concerned about the shoulders but one C.Judd once had shoulder problems too. Going to be abother long month of speculation of who goes where and sure i'll change my mind a few more times yet. Would love to see the WA v Vic Country game where Garner played a blinder too.

Who would be likely to take him then??, the Dees seem most likely, they would all wet themselves down there at the prospect of actually picking up someone who wasnt just a discard.

Think it will be a case of who can AFFORD him. Not many will be willing or have the space to offer him the 1mil a year or whatever it is Sydney are willing to pay

How does Grundy compare to Kreuzer (as viewed prior to being drafted)?

How does Grundy compare to Kreuzer (as viewed prior to being drafted)?

I would say the biggest difference between the two at junior level is Grundy is much more aggressive and competitive than Matt was/is.

Theres no chance Grundy could slide ........................................ Is there

Please !

But judging by what most indicators
1.Whitfield
2.Grundy/Toumpas
3.
4.Wines -Viney's BumChum
5.Stringer
6.Plowman
7.Mayes
8.Shaw/ Jaksch
9. ????? - O"Rourke,McCrae,Garlett,Garner,Vlastuin,
10.Daniher

A fair few players to choose from, But really looking foward to which ''Gun'' Slides

Exactly. Also smarter positioning himself up forward. Love this kids aggression.
Would be the equivilent of a lottery win if he fell to us.
