It was reported Stringer was told at draft camp he wouldn't get past pick 9. Can't recall where I read it so take it with the proverbial. As long as the leg's ok or we're confident it will be I'd take him ahead of Vlastuin. As I would Garner. Grundy before all of them.

At Draft Combine Melbourne had pick 3 & 4 which if found guilty they could have lost both giving Carlton pick 9 which is where I think he lands.

In all fairness, we have Maric and Vickery, who are decent ruckmen. If Maric goes down, then we'd look at Wood/Derickx. However, whilst it would be nice to have A-grade depth, it is not going to ever occur. I'm OK with Wood to be playing with Coburg and then having a go if there's an injury. My biggest concern is with who will replace Maric when he goes.

So do I. It's the reason we won't take him. Won't pass our kicking. And from what a few others have said he won't pass the character testing either.

I've said it before..but I'll say it again! Stringer and menzel will be the best 2 players of this draft. We are all likening vlastuin simply because we are lead to believe that we are taking him. Yes we will all back the club and in some cases pretend to 'like' whoever we choose. But in all seriousness how could we possibly pass on someone like stringer.. I still think vlastuin will be good but a first round pick? I'm not convinced head worth pick 9 and would probably slide to 15 or 17 if we don't take him. Its exactly like conca.... Good players but a top ten pick? C'mon. Each to their own. However I have been right in the past with draft pick predictions. If all these players are available at 9..our order should be
1. Menzel
2. Stringer
3. O'rourke
4. Macrae
5. Garner / vlastuin
6. Mayes / Garett

Grundy will surely be gone at 7 to port Adelaide. Besides GWS, the budlogs are in the best position by a long way.

I still have a feeling it might be stringer with pick 9

It wouldn't surprise me , however it would be very ordinary drafting . Players who have no agility , no leap and are ordinary below their knees and are slow are not round 1 worthy in any draft .

Was probably the worst performed at Nationals of any player ever considered a round 1 pick .
He was only playing VFL to try and inflate his value after pretty much falling out of top 20 pick contention .

Sorry, but that is ****ing terrible and will see us missing the finals if injury to Maric occurs.

If the club wants to role the dice fine, I sure as hell won't be excited to see us rely on Derickx, Wood, Petterd.... Wow.

We have the chance to set the club up for years here. We have three other picks with chances to get mids, and next year another Vlastuin will be around, they come most years. Grundy types don't. Brisbane will be kicking themselves now.

Well if Stringer won't last past 9 and its not us taking him just leaves someone else to drop to us. All good in my book

Brogan will be redrafted if the Giants miss out on Tippett

Grundy for mine. Pick 9, which in reality probably equates to pick 13-15. Not as if we are deciding on pick 1/2.

Not saying I/ we know more than FJ, but I'd be disappointed if we overlooked Brodie. Vlastuin is of strong character, but if we wanted to describe the type of player we want to ruck for the next 12 years, Grundy is it

We have shed Post, Moore, Miller, Graham and Browne. McGuane surely on his way out. Added - in terms of talls - Chaplin.

We are now underweight big boys.

God dammit why couldn't we have packaged 9 and got 12 & 14. I know it was prob never really on the table but man it would be great to have a couple of top 15 picks in this draft.
