No, as I said though he goes to my old school so I had heard a bit about him. My gf's brother is friends with him, says he is a good player but he's not the biggest footy fan, was just going to see if anyone had seen a write up of him and/or video.

After doing 5 minutes of research i have decided that i want the Swans to get Matthew Taberner with pick 23 :)

I am going with this analysis.

This is 100% more than I have done so I defer to the research without question.

Players I would like us to have a look at with our later selections:
Adam Carter
Brant Colledge
Jesse Wells
Jack Hannath
Jordan Bourke
Jason Ashby

Callum Twomey from afl.com thinks we're interested in using a pick on Sam Siggins from Tassie, after watching just a bit of his footage I hope we do!

For those who know nothing about the these players (and the draft pool at all), what kind of players are these guys?

Adam Carter - WA u18 captain, tough clearance midfielder or half back who leads by example and works hard, decent kick. Perfect fit for our squad
Brant Colledge - hard leading forward with good endurance who can bring other players into the game. Doubt he could ever be a FF so questionable fit for us if that's what we want
Jesse Wells - big unit who can play forward and back, mature age player to add depth. Good pace and very combative. Would be drafted very late or likely not at all, low price and could play a role if needed
Jack Hannath - in a very very thin draft for rucks he's one that may be worth a go. Mature ager. Liam McBean will go too high and there is stuff-all else if we need a ruck. Darcy Fort maybe?
Jordan Bourke - very young key forward who has good athleticism. Good pace and enough to work with I think to have a crack at him, despite some poor kicking/injuries etc
Jason Ashby - minimal fuss tallish running player with great endurance who can do good defensive work on opposing midfielders

10 players that caught my eye watching some tapes (and which may be available at our various picks)*;

Brandt Colledge,
Sam Colquhoun,
Mathew Dick,
Harry Marsh,
Mathew McDonough,
Shaquille McKenzie,
Marco Paparone,
Lewis Pierce,
Nick Rodda,
Mason Wood.

*Obviously some of these players would cancel each other out.
eg If we took Wood @ 23, instead of Colquhoun, then Colquhoun almost certainly wouldn't be available at our next pick or if we took Wood @ 23 then as they are relatively similar players we may not select Paparone (in the unlikely event he were available) at pick #45.

Sadly one thing we won't hear on Thursday night that would truly have topped off a Premiership year ;
"And with pick 23, Sydney selects, under the father son rule, Joe Daniher Calder Cannons".

I want Mason Wood at pick 23 about as much as I want us to re-draft Brett Meredith with pick 45.

Why so (too high or you just don't rate him)?

I don't think he'll ever be a KPF, I see him developing initially as a ROK type leading HFF, getting up the ground and back, creating mismatches with his size, speed and endurance.
Nice left foot, confident mark, hard worker, good movement and recovery and very composed in what he does.

He is in the bottom 2 categories:

I've taken out our grand final 22, plus you can include McGlynn in that as he would have played if fit. So its worth a look at the structure of our list and what areas we may need to strengthen. Here are the reserves we have in various positions (senior list)

Key defenders:

Key forwards:
Tommy Walsh

200cm+ ruckmen:

Inside Midfielders:
Tom Mitchell

Outside Midfielders/Flankers:
Jed Lamb
Tony Armstrong
Harry Cunningham

3rd Talls/Utilities:
Gary Rohan
Jordan Lockyer
Alex Brown
Jesse White
Andrejs Everitt

Emma Quayle thinks we're going to pick Mason Wood (I'm still hoping for either Lonergan, Kennedy or taking a chance on Garlett).

Garlett is not going to fall to our pick.

He will if Collingwood don't draft him.

Apparently most clubs have been turned off him because of his off field issues, Emma Quayle thinks the guy is a chance of not being drafted at all!

Well i am not at all confident about that fact but if he does fall to our pick i do think we should take a risk, draft him and hope that our culture can turn him around because the kid has a lot of skill (a lot).

As I said a bit earlier if we don't draft him at 22 I won't be too surprised or concerned. If he astonishingly makes it to 45 and we don't pick him it is close to Jack Darling-level incompetence.
