Without seeing Stevenson play, they're decent stats for a HBF. These are the numbers he has to consistently produce to get a gig in the Eagles line-up. 4 tackles from him is pleasing to see, too.

Couldn't really fault his game today, was one of the best on ground IMO.

A few times he ran himself into some trouble but brushed the tacklers aside or managed to stand up in the tackle and handball away; the guy has some serious core strength.

Wouldn't surprise me to see him feature in more AFL games this year than many think.

He has always been able to get big stats when allowed to run and carry from defence.
The difference now is he learning to use his big body, this is a guy that was drafted as a 185cm 68kg player.
He is now 190cm and close to 90kg's.
His defence was the best part of his game as Thorne has said, his positioning spoiling, sheparding is first class, he doesn't panic and worked him self out of bad positions.
He also works hard to help his team mates out.
He is ready to become a good AFL footballer if given the chance, I really like the idea of Hurn, Stevenson and Brennan playing together, they would
offer us something different.
When Stevenson and Brennan are given there chance they need to be given at least 4 or 5 games in a row to show there value.

^ i think they will be judged purely on their defending ability first. to me each needs to dislodge one of waters, butler, schofield, smith. i dont think they are up against selwood or mcginnity. but have to admit, both stevenson and brennan really did look good in other games.

I think our efficiency coming out of defence looked well down with Stevenson and Brennan out of the side. At some point Woosh has to make the call. Does Adam Selwood really win that much more of the ball to make up for his limitations? Perhaps move either him or Waters to the forward line maybe with Nicoski now out?

I was thinking this precise thing when Nicoski went down. Waters to hf, A. Selwood out and Brennan and Stevenson to the back half. It would be high risk and I don't see Woosha going down that path, but the reward could be substantial.

I'm not sure how much more Stevenson is going to develop in the WAFL.

Thats my point also, he is treading water now he cant develop any more without AFL game time experience.

Maybe we could play him at half forward - direct swap for Nicko - would deliver the ball nicely to the forwards

Couldn't endorse this any more if I tried. That would be the best way to go for sure I reckon.

Structurally i would really love for Stevenson to make it into our team. One thing we often struggle with is getting the ball out of our backline. We don't have one player who posseses both skills and pace except for maybe schofield.
Stevenson imo is the second best kick on our list behind hurn and has pace so would really love him to get into the backline.

Butler Glass Schofield
Hurn Mckenzie Stevenson

That's what i'd want to see by the end of the year. With waters playing up forward. We need good kicks surrounding our KPD's as all though great players mckenzie and glass are both somewhat poor kicks.

T Swift , L Stevenson , J Hill , K Stevens , Weedon and A Hams have been left out of 2nd round WAFL , indicating they are in serious contention for WCE round 1 !

McGovern , Hamp , Neates , Tunbridge , Lycett , A Smith are named to play WAFL , not sure about Newman as the SD team has not yet been named !

The A Smith your looking at, is Alistair Smith from StKilda :D

Swift performed alright during the preseason. He didn't tear it up but he was serviceable.

No injury for strijk reported. Woosha trying to create uncertainty for the Bullies no doubt. With the injuries we had maybe extra training this weekend? Or strategy meetings? Maybe fatigue management give guys a chance too freshen up for the real stuff.

We haven't developed a genuine gun from our rookie list for a long long time I'm hoping Mascoulis is our next!

Hope Newman tears it up this weekend as well.
