No injury for strijk reported. Woosha trying to create uncertainty for the Bullies no doubt. With the injuries we had maybe extra training this weekend? Or strategy meetings? Maybe fatigue management give guys a chance too freshen up for the real stuff.

Updated:

Dual West Coast premiership defender Glen Jakovich says the Eagles are vulnerable in their opening match on the back of a pre-season that has steadily unravelled through injuries.

The club has added fringe forward Andrew Strijk to its growing casualty list.

Strijk suffered a quad strain at training this week and is expected to miss up to three weeks, further robbing West Coast of depth in attack where they have already suffered their greatest personnel losses.

T Swift , L Stevenson , J Hill , K Stevens , Weedon and A Hams have been left out of 2nd round WAFL , indicating they are in serious contention for WCE round 1 !

McGovern , Hamp , Neates , Tunbridge , Lycett , A Smith are named to play WAFL , not sure about Newman as the SD team has not yet been named !

No fraser mcinnes either for the demons

Newman named on the bench

He may not have had many touches but you do get the sense that McGovern has something, crashes packs and seems mobile. Hamp trying hard to get amongst it too, but like others have said doesn't look AFL level, does one good thing and then one bad. Neates looks ok, nothing spectacular from him yet though.

Definitely.

Saw him last week against Perth and was very impressive, with a forward line that already boasts CJones, Medhurst, and Handley.

Neates is a way off the pace, keep your eye on the likes of Hams, Weedon and Hill

Was at the match, McGovern smashed packs and did show his contested marking ability. Reminds me a lot of lynch but a lot more agile and with a great kick (low fast motion, always hits a team mate on the chest). Hamp looks a bit awkward to be honest, like he'd be a great small/medium forward but is too tall for it. talented player but hasn't been showing it, needs to put on bulk.

Neates looked good i thought, the high intensity match didn't suit him, struggled a bit with the big bodies. But whenever he managed to find some space to run he did look really good, good line breaker but is average in the contests/stoppages.

Managed to find Stevenson in the stands and had a chat at three quarter time. Reckons he's no chance for round 1, despite his WAFL round 1 match (24 possessions as the isolated man in defence) he thought it was pretty average and he can do better. Seemed a little frustrated at how all these forwards are going down but none of the back men are injured haha

Thank god we delisted JON though, decent stats but picked fights, gave away a ridiculously stupid 50 for not giving the ball back (just held onto it and yelled at the umpire), missed a goal running in 5 meters out no opponent.

Nothing of note from the Swans vs West Perth game.

Newman only had a handful of classes. All were classy. Perhaps an injury? I didnt notice him after half time or so.

Mascoulis wasn't noticeable.

Regarding others...
Dayle Garlett had a heap of the ball but was terrible with it.
Jordan Jones was hardly noticeable.

McInnes, Wilson, Swift not playing this week? I would understand cotton-woolling them but none are likely play round 1.

East Freo is yet to have a match so far.

Mascoulis - 7 Disposals , 1 goal
Newman - 5 disposals , 1 goal
Lycett - 8 disposals , 8 HO
Neates - 16 disposals , 1 goal
Hamp - 5 disposals
McGovern - 9 disposals 1 goal
Tunbridge - 10 disposals , 7 marks

Newman only played sparingly ( half ) , very clean skills

Marlon Motlop for SD set up SD first quarter was brilliant , has shoulder problems but would play AFL if drafted for any other side then Geelong ,.... very good player . Motlop and Hilderbrandt will make SD a better team .

Shame Newman's had such an interrupted preseason. With the injuries we've had he'd have been a monty to debut round one.

Only the players not in contention for RD1 played this week. I wouldn't worry about it. Most of them are rookie listed players.

I know all the guys are young, but going off stats these guys are a long way off AFL. Our depth looks like letting us down with injuries.

These guys are all a long way off. Anyone with even a tiny chance of playing round 1 isn't out there. Smith, Stevens, Hams, Weedon, Stevenson, Sheppard, Wilson, Brennan, even Dalziell and Swift are all those that are probably < 50% chance of playing in our first game but werent allowed to line up in WAFL.

I think we were just playing it cautious until we knew our Rd1 team. I would imagine next week everyone will slot back into their WAFL teams as per normal.

You cant expect massive numbers from what is essentially rookies.

Surprised Tunbridge only had 10 possessions. I watched the game and thought he did really well. He played in the backline though, and I guess quite a few times he spoilt the ball as it was coming in so that doesn't count as a possession. IMO he had a good game.

Yeah, he was alright. Made a few rookie mistakes, but that is to be expected.

Two to keep an eye on for Perth are Matt Tedesco and Matthew Rogers. Both still young and have been really good the first few rounds. :thumbsu:

Tedesco, who couldn't make it at WP? Nah, you can keep him, although he's a good WAFL player not sure he can make the next step.

Rogers I like, but he needs to control his emotions more, I pick him as having anger management issues. ;)

Is it the same Tedesco who was at WP? My mate was trying to convince me he was a different one. Has been great in the first two rounds floating into contests in the backline and taking really strong grabs.

Who could blame a Perth player for having anger issues after what happened last night? :p :( (so many emotions still!)

You're mates wrong. But as I have been telling everyone at work lately, I could be wrong, but that doesn't happen. :D

Show you're mate this link: http://www.wafl.com.au/players/view/1827

There were 2 Tedesco cousins at WP. I don't like much about WP but I did like the way the Tedescos' went about their business. Not sure why he left WP because he played 30-40 games in 2 years. This is his second season at Perth.

Rogers has able company with Spaanderman though. :D

This is the Eagles we're talking about. Judd wasn't even given a rd 1 debut, wouldn't have happened, unless it was Coniglio. :);)

Dear GOD............................

Let's not start seeing the end of the world when, as others have pointed out, essentially rookie players are not getting big numbers.

Don't remember Garlett being as soft as I saw yesterday, last year Underdog? Or am I seeing things?

JJones was noticable with his blonde tips, I thought. :D

Newman seemed to have limited ground time, but needs to get more of the ball. However, that doesn't concern me because I saw his 30 possie 5 goal game last year, so I'm pretty sure he can.

Needs to grow a set before he gets my vote of confidence. If he could take that mark that Hilder took in the last when crunched by 2 WP players and you could see it coming, then I'd approve that post. :thumbsu:

I think you're thinking of Shannon Motlop; he's the one who was drafted by Geelong and he's still on their list.

Marlon was at Port, and didn't do anything to suggest he'd make it as an AFL player.
