Shane Nelson anyone?

Him and Waters (Subi) I liked last year and nothing's changed my mind. Waters should/will be available in RD still, I expect Nelson might be as well.

I only saw bits of the game but one of the commentators towards the end was really talking up his game and particularly his off the ball work. They essentially said they were very impressed.

I watched him last week in stormy conditions and his body work, positioning and skills were really good in that weather. I thought he had taken the game saving mark last week but the quarter went on forever, so it wasn't...

11 goals 4? that must have mean he had the ball at least 15 times! thats 15 times the amount of possessions lynch gets in a game
Ol hamstrung Hansen - he's really having a purple patch! Carried Swans to the top of the ladder. Swans and East Perth next week - a cracker of a game that'll be!

Still think Brown's a good chance of a recall this week if Schofield's out. Saw the first half of the EF-Subi match and he looked very solid. Plus we'll need his height against Collingwood.

How did Weedon play?

I saw a fair bit of the Foxtel Cup game. I thought Weedon was very ordinary, and I am a supporter of his. Didn't seem interested, lacked energy, got few possessions and stuffed up most of those he got. Kicked a classy left foot goal at the end of the game but everyone was packing up by this time. Looks to me as though he thinks he should be in the A team after his NAB cup and pre-season and isn't terribly interested in WAFL level.

Underdog were you at the SD's match? Any comment on Newman's game?
He was OK. Burnt a number of his disposals and some decisions were pretty suspect. Nothing shown that screams elevation.

Worst was a mark he took about 10m out on around a 45-60 degree angle which he didn't want to take due to it being on his wrong side. He tried to play on prematurely to a teammate which was brought back. He still didn't want to kick it but did a lazy banana which hit the post. Forwards need to gobble those up.

SUNDAY TIMES : REVIEW

M Newman - K 13 H 2 M 10 Gls 1 - Generally well held , but provided a target across HF .
F McIness - K 6 H 5 M 2 - Stronger marking presence needed .
S Tunbridge - K 6 H 4 M 2 - Kept Barden quiet for three quarters .
A Strijk - K 14 H 1 M 3 - Damaging third quarter with two goals .
B Dick - K 13 H 1 M 2 - A little wasteful in front of goals in the reserves .
M Brown - K 8 H 7 M 2 - Struggled to get involved in the game .
K Stevens - K 11 H 10 M 3 - Started brightly with an impressive first half but faded .

McGovern - K 8 H 1 M 5 Gls 4.1
Hamp - K 8 H 2 M 5 Gls 3.2
Neates - K 14 H 13 M 8 Gls 1.1
Stevenson - K 8 H 9 M 1
Weedon - K 6 H 4 M 4 Gls 1.1

Newman had ten marks and the Claremont players beat up Mt Gravatt by the sounds of it .

Love McGovern. Great kick, beastly contested grab and likes to hurt people.

Is McGovern the most likely rookie to get an elevation onto the senior list next year? It seems like he's steadily improving.

The list certainly needs a a 4th ruckman as backup if two get injured and with Cox and Lynch not getting any younger McGovern as a ruck / forward option looks promicing.

I think we might draft another 18 yr old project ruck this year later in the draft and also keep hold of McGovern.

Can McInnes ruck as well?

Western Australia v Victoria Country
Sunday 17th, 11:00 AM @ Subiaco.

A chance to measure the WA players against the prospective number one pick in Lachie Whitfield. I will be going.

WA won 13.14.92 to 11.8.74 with Mitch Brown's good buddy Mason Shaw kicking 4. EH will hopefully have some comments on the game later.

do you rate joe daye he looks to be a interesting footballer that I like , has good size and a racking left foot on the H/BF for Subi .

Not win too many games would be a start. I have heard the whole footy department have been on notice for quite some time this season, so it comes as no surprise.

I wonder when the league gives up on the Peel experiment - 16 years in and they are still a rabble on-field. Sure the Colts have developed some good players, but that still could've happened under a South Freo zone.

Replace Peel with Dockers and that statement still holds true :p

I'd back him being elevated - purely in the NAB cup game he showed he's got the size and smarts to dow well at this level.
