2012 fixture

Re: 2012 Draw

that sounds about right although we'd likely travel to Adelaide to play the Power i'd have thought do to the fact we have played them at home only in the past three seasons. Something tells me we'll be travelling 6 times though and Collingwood will, surprise surprise:rolleyes:, only travel four times

I must admit with the addition of GWS to the league my first thought was we will be playing 6 next year. I hope we don't though.

Re: 2012 Draw

AFL has said that no team will play both GC and GWS twice because for an upper echelon team it's bascially 16 premiership points in the bag.
What rubbish, GWS maybe but GC will make big strides next year and should at least double the number of wins they had on this year.

Re: 2012 Draw

Here's what I hope for:
-Flag unfurling at KP in Round 1, followed by a 'home' MCG unfurling against Collingwood in Round 2.
-7 home games minimum at KP, two of which are against the Bulldogs and St. Kilda and the majority of which are Saturday arvo matches.
-The balance of our home games at the MCG against Hawks, Pies, Blues/Dons, and one at Etihad against Blues/Dons.
-Only 1 trip to Perth and no interstate travel in consecutive weeks.

GEELONG has a Round 1 road trip against Fremantle at Patersons Stadium on a Saturday night.

GWS being forced to endure the toughest assignment of all - an away game against premiers Geelong at Skilled Stadium in Round 10.

CARLTON is set to become one of the marquee Friday night clubs along with grand finalists Collingwood and Geelong in the prime TV slot.

Am I right in thinking we always play Freo early in the year over there?
Probably the best time to have an interstate trip really.

Re: 2012 Draw

Gets one interstate trip out of the way I guess.

Having to wait to unfurl the flag and copping "Saints" footy in rd 1 again though, uggh.

Friday nights will be much better with Blues subbing in for St Kilda.

The teams that get GWS twice better not also get GC twice. Sydney have a big free kick as it stands. I don't think they are good enough to make top 4 but the extra 4 points puts them ahead of the finals chasing pack.

Pies avoid the good interstate sides (WA) surprise surprise

Odds on us going to Perth twice?

Yup. I went over there during term one school holidays, and I remember another one being around that same time.

Sucks for me, I can only get to so many games at the start of the season next year, so that is one less game i cant get to!!!! :thumbsd:

Good to see we are still getting screwed by the poor clubs selling games interstate.

Where's our equalisation compo for that AFL...

The ES games better be Ess/Carl/Rich and not North or the Dogs.

Cook said the Cats had again lobbied for eight home games at the newly named Simonds Stadium, but was resigned to the fact that they would again only get seven.

"We don't really have too many options with the games at Simonds Stadium. They are either Saturday or Sunday afternoons," he said.

"We have a preference to play them (home games in Geelong) on a Saturday afternoon at 2pm."

Cook said the Cats pushed for three Melbourne "home games" at the MCG and one at Etihad Stadium, but it looked likely that they would play two games at each.

Geelong is also happy with the likelihood of playing just "five or six" Friday night games.

Won't happen. Those that play GWS twice will not play GC twice, or so the AFL has said.

Has there been any confirmation that we will get more games at skilled in 2013 once the new redevelopment has finished? Surely we will get our minimum of 8 games again? Capacity will be 34,000 (i think) and having lights will give the AFL more flexibility when making the fixture.

No, all that has been said is that Geelong want 8 when the wade stand is replaced. And they want 9 games when the next stage is completed.

Tough round 1 game next year. Over in Perth, against Freo with Ross and a whole new game plan.

For Freo, or from Ross?

Can't imagine we'll get anything other than 'Saints Footy' re-badged.

Anything else would require imagination and innovation from a man who appears to possess anything but.

Should be awful; just hope we emerge from the ugliness with no injuries and the four points.

Will be good to knock over an interstate trip very early though.

Look forward to Friday for the details - with the vagaries of the AFL draw, you could almost believe that we'll be unfurling the flag at KP against GWS as we approach mid-season.

Disappointing that round 1 is not a Melbourne game. It's always exciting to head to the G Round #1 the past couple of years to see Geelong kick off the season.

Round 1 game in Perth. Sounds like they're setting us up for Pies in round 2, but I hope round 2 is at KP so we can unfurl the flag and unleash the team.

If it's true that Ottens wont be playing interstate games it's a good fixture for Simpson. Pretty much means he'll play all of the NAB cup and round 1

We are playing Hawthorn in Round 2 on Easter Monday. I am pretty sure its our home game.

Like this idea a lot. Will be great to see Daws have a run of games in the seniors, NAB or not.

Bloody hell greasy dimwitrou badly wants us to fail.

Didn't succeed in 2011 by scheduling this game in the 2nd Round so now they've moved it a week closer to Round 1 in 2012 hoping that the longest plane trip in the competiton, home crowd advantage plus the rustiness of the off-season will help Freo get over the line.

smh in disgust.

Dimwit is lucky we live in a civlized society or else I'd pummell him into ground the dirty greasy corrupt prick.

Not sure why they said that, PA and probably 2 or 3 other teams will be easier to beat next year than GC
