I was just interested to know what you guys think about our gameplan this year versus last year. Its clear to me that Brad Scott has focused alot more on getting the team to kick more and chip it around and slow the game at times to find a good target.
Compare that to last year where our plan was to run and handball as often as possible and bomb it long when we go forward.

I know that many will disagree but i actually prefer our gameplan last year as opposed to now. We were such a fast and exciting team with the old plan but i guess brad scott feels possibly it won't hold up in finals. Ideally i'd want a combination of the two, the roos to run and play on with handballs but instead of being predictable with the bomb inside 50, lower their eyes and hit a target.
But overall i think we were super dangerous and really good to watch when we actually ran and handballed. More so than now. What do you guys think? Opinions?

As you said, when the team was on last year it was great to watch. We were slaughtered on the rebound when it fell apart though, as highlighted in our horrific final.

I think its slightly early to call. The players haven't got their full mojo going yet. Up until this point last year, the game style didn't seem any good.

What I wouldn't give to hear Brad Scott give us a basic outline of what he's trying to achieve with the game plan. Surely he could do that without giving away the particulars. For me it's far too hard to assess as an outsider apart from saying "we're handballing a lot more now".

BS wanted to keep the ball away from Taylor and Mackie before the Geelong game.

This was done by foot in the first half and we sliced through them with handball the year before.

This year we are still vulnerable when we cannot get it out of our backline (Swans) , on the slingshot (Port) and when our space is cut down (Geelong 2nd half).

This year our turnovers are further up the ground.

To me the next steps now would be to improve the delivery into the forward line, improve spread from clearances (handball) and get some more decent kicks from the back half.

Boomer, BMAC, LMAC, Ziebell, Cunnington are probably the keys to that. Gibson to possibly tag.

Easily this year. While we still have heaps of blokes who pick and choose their moments to defend, I prefer the more balanced approach to setting up play and we've at least been in every game.

Last year games got away from us more frequently.

Hopefully that is a thing of the past..

Is this a serious question?

This time last year we were genuinely asking if Brad Scott was the man for the job after being slaughtered by 115 points, losing to WB, and Port, and looking completely outclassed.

This year, outside of 10 minutes of terrible 2012 footy, we've looked like we belong with the big boys. It hasn't quite clicked for an entire four quarters, but I feel like we're so close, and the party time of 2012 will return for the fans when we come up against some of the lesser sides who simply can't compete in the contested stuff.

Win ugly > lose pretty.
