Re: 2012 Draft Prospects

I rate Jack Viney as the best inside mid, so would go 1 or 2 if not F/S.

The player i look forward to watching is Mayes, he reminds me of ex Hawk Tony Hall. A lovely mover!

Hope Stringer comes back and produces...

I like the Viney call. Has such a mature game already and his attack on the ball is just incredible. One of those players who is just so good you just can't ignore. Allot of clubs would fall in love with him if he wasn't a F/S.

Stringer is just such an incredible talent. Just love the way he impacts games. You always want to see the best talents and best competitors out there and I'll be very keen to see Stringer back and taking over games.

Was anyone else at the Metro Country champ game and heard the almight thump when he and another player dove at a loose ball? Fair to say the other lad came off second best.

I was sitting next to Todd and his family and the smirk on his face was telling haha. The kid is a bull, fearless attack and the body to back up every bit of that attack. Not to mention he doesn't mind a stoush when available.

Re: 2012 Draft Prospects

Well yeah. Moller was 16 at the time of the Championships. You have to expect someone his age and height will be pretty skinny. Especially when you compare him to Witts, who was a year older than most of the players.

Being a stick hasn't stopped him from playing against men, and showing signs outside of the ruck.

Re: 2012 Draft Prospects

I understand that Moller is younger/less developed than Witts but after playing against both this year, Witts appears to be a far greater talent in my opinion.

Never Said Moller does not look a good Talent. I think he can be quite a Good AFL Player what I saw from him.

But still a Project

Re: 2012 Draft Prospects

Shaq, as in Shaquille? Don't know anything about him but if that's his name then definitely want
He has some talent and a lot of grit for someone as light as him.

Re: 2012 Draft Prospects

Shaq would barely be pushing 70kg, and that's on a wet winter day. Can't argue with an underage player that size cementing a spot in the seniors though.

Chase Strange is another small kid from WA, who should be talked about for more reasons than just his name.

Re: 2012 Draft Prospects

thoughts on nathan hrovat knightmare and others?

Played in all the Vic teams u12, u15 & u16. Nathan is a small midfielder with good pace and clean skills. Consistantly gets the ball out of the middle. Similar to Woodward of last season.

Would expect him to play for VM and a chance to be a first or second round selection in the superdraft.

Re: 2012 Draft Prospects

I've seen Viney play a few times now and I agree his attack on the ball is unbelievable but do you think his game will translate to playing against big strong men. He has a very mature body for his age and I think that's helping him against u18 kids.

I don't think Viney will have too much trouble adapting to AFL football and frankly I think he could step in now, play and hold his own but at the same time I do see serious upside in his game and he has the work ethic and dedication to his craft which suggests he won't stop until he develops into an elite midfielder at AFL level.

At u18 level Viney doesn't dominate because of size, he had a playing weight of around 77/78kg this year - so he is solid physically at this stage but no hulk. It's more the mental side where he seems to stands out and where he gets the edge because he has that 20% extra will to win the footy or take the man down in the tackle which seems to be the difference with him. I don't see this agressiveness suddenly leaving him and I think at AFL level it will as at u18 level continue to be a point of difference in his game.

His father was honestly the toughest player Ive ever seen.

I remember he was even more physical than Buddha Hocking when they were both peaking.

I have seen Hrovat play with Viney last year for Carey V Geelong Grammar (My mates school) and shows lots of talent. Is a simular size to Viney, can imagine them together in the midfield at the DEES??:p
