Just imagine if we had lecras, embley, nikoski. we would be so far ahead the rest of the comp it would be laughable.

We are having a bad run, but we can cover them, luckily none of our key position player have gone down. If they stay on the park throughout the year we will be top 4 guaranteed. Embley was our sub anyway and his not what he used to be even though he was ok last year we can cover him. His not a big loss.

I didnt like the game when it came to speed. When there was bugger-all difference between a Rioli and Sandilands, it was a bit unrealistic. I hope the next version is ridiculously better.

Stick a fork in him for 2012

I see what you're getting at and although I think you're closer to the mark than Woosha, there was this:

Eagles coach John Worsfold said Nicoski had suffered a high fever and felt unwell but that the latest incident would not affect his expected return to football in about four months' time.

Of all the hamstrings that have been torn off the bone, only really Riewoldt did anything of note in the same year, even then that was below his best.

Nicoski had a quality game last year, but if he loses his power and speed - he loses a major part of his weaponry. I just don;t see him getting back from the injury to be an effective part of a 2012 campaign - hell I think he'll struggle for 2013.

Hopefully he proves me very wrong

Find the bolded parts interesting. Nothing against Strijk, good West Perth boy and played well in a terrible side in 2010, but to say Strijk can just come back from (many) injuries and get on with his career, whereas Neates is a huge longshot confuses me.

Neates has dominated at WAFL level this year, and has had a few solid preseasons with us now. His NAB cup was excellent for limited opportunities, and he was really highly rated out of the draft. Is it his size? His unknown status? Why would Neates be a 1000 to 1 shot whereas Strijk is someone with a long AFL career if he can stay healthy? Neates is the much better player for mine, albeit untested at AFL level. Just confused as to why Strijk > Neates in your eyes.

Tesser sumed it up nicely why I rate Strijk ahead / more likely than Neates. Strijk has shown a glimpse of how good he is and how he can impact games across HFF. If his heart issue has been sorted and he can get over these soft tissue leg complaints he is a great size, speed and skillset to cover either of Nicoski or Embley.

Neates is a pocket rocket and when I saw him at training I swallowed in fear just seeing how small he is compared to others. Against Dick, Newman and Mcginnity types it doesn't look so scary but see him alongside Lynch, Stevens and Hurn you notice his size. I'm a bit of a short arse but playing at AFL level you will need to be very special if you are Neates size.

Lets hope our injury run doesn't get any worse.

Our fringe players have to be licking their lips though, the likes of Lycett, Strijk, Weedon and Dalziell only played one game last year, Brennan, Stevenson didn't play one, and Koby Steven's only played two.

Hopefully with these opportunities opening up, our fringe players can prove their worth, and keep their spot.

On the back page of the Sunday Times today there was an article about Embley not getting a full shoulder reco, instead he opted to have a part of his collar bone used to hold his shoulder together, or something like that.

Anyway, it's taken a month off his recovery time and he's expected back in 12 weeks. The article also said he'd need at least 2 games in the WAFL and that he thought this squad was as good as any he'd played with.

From experience (2 shoulder recos on my left from footy) that is still a full reco, they just fuse some extra bone to the socket to make it harder to come out again... The bone for mine came off the top of my shoulder blade.

During his press conference today Woosha was asked if there was any chance Lecras could play this year. He said he was not sure on what the surgeon had told Lecras but he expected that Lecras would be running in 4 months time.

Any chance he could play?

Personally I see it as great news - if he is as advanced as being able to be even remotely considered - it means that the surgery and subsequent recovery is going well and he should be cherry ripe for a full pre-season and a ripping 2013.

Ideally we get him playing NAB cup games next year to get the confidence in his knee. In a way doing his knee before a ball is kicked in anger is a bonus in that hopefully it only affect one season, instead of 2.

In saying that - Morabito did his knee and has had complicaton after complication.

Good news on Lecca, but strangely, I am missing Nico more. Loved his turns onto his left, and his long raking shots on goal. He gave real X-factor to our team last year. Not saying he is as good as Lecca, just that I miss him more.

And contrary to what I would have believed before the season started, Dalziell is a big loss. He has been good in the WAFL - BOGs - and he was excellent against GWS. Longmuir said he was our best player in the 1st half, and I agree with him. 'Tis a shame he's out!
We are thin on wingman / middies with our outs - it could hurt us.
