is there any footage of corr.

also interesting that mcintosh is rated ahead of rodda, given the reports that mcintosh was the third tall in the WA side behind rodda
I think a lot of the reason Rodda was playing on a better forward was his maturity. Once McIntosh puts on some more weight he should be good enough.

Smith is supposed to be pretty good in a shut down role. Personally I think his attributes are what we need more than a good kicker or rebounder.

Tanner Smith in detail

Tanner Smith is likely the best key defender in this draft. He had some tough assignments in the U18 Championships but acquitted himself well. Smith does a better job of shutting down a key forward than anyone else in this draft, however he is a good decision maker allowing him to provide intercept marks for his side as well.
Tanner Smiths athletic ability is above average for a player of his size, he possesses great closing speed and solid endurance allowing him to run with his bigger (and often stronger) opponents. Down the track he will need to improve on his strength but should be able to play the third tall defender role in the early stages of his career.
Expect Tanner Smith to get drafted late in the first round or early second round of the draft

ST KILDA will head to next week's NAB AFL Draft with ambition to recruit a key backman after its failed attempt to secure a trade for West Coast defender Mitch Brown last month. Coach Scott Watters said they would aim for one next week with their five picks at the draft on the Gold Coast, but were also prepared to develop from within if necessary.

"We'll bring 18-year-olds into the club this year and we'll continue to look at players between the age of 18 to 24 that are really going to move us forward," he said.

"If you look at the demographic of our list we're probably still keen to add some players who fill that middle-tier gap at our football club."

But.... Melbourne are already in a shitful position, and robbing them of draft picks for the next two years will probably put them in a position where the AFL need to take action ( ie give them a priority pick ) the year after which would be embarrasing to say the least. Pretty sure the AFL dont want to kill them for the next decade given that they have already been crap for around 5 years.

Thats why I think it best that they make a statement ,and say that there is insufficent evidence to prove it without a doubt.

Personally I dont think it will happen again, since the AFL now issue priority picks on a disgressionary basis, and because Melbourne and Carlton are the posterchildren of teams who tank, while teams who dont tank overly, such as Geelong, Collingwood( well maybe a little ) and Sydney have been very successful.

Fraud is fraud. Because they were incompetent and couldn't make the best use of their picks and not develop the players they did draft, is irrelevant to their manipulation of the draft.

I had no sympathy for Carlton who were long term systematic cheats and equally none for Melbourne. They have done the crime, the time for pain is coming. The Saints and all other AFL teams (except Crows, Carlton and Melbourne) have been following the AFL laws. Without sufficient punishment for this, we move back to the old VFL days of cheque book premierships and a lopsided competition.

I hope they throw the book at Melbourne. If they spend another 5-8 years on the bottom, they have no one to blame but themselves. This isn't about sending Melbourne to Tassie, or throwing them out of the AFL. This is about fairness and allowing all teams the opportunity, to operate within the rules to try and win a premiership.

Cheats, cheat ALL of us.

Please, please, please don't tell me that throughout the next season, we are going to discuss BJ and his:

- reasons for leaving

- current form

- personal motivation

- ideal position for him to play

- season stats as opposed to stats at the Saints

- relationship with Hirdy, Mark Thompson, the boot strapper

He has left. He chased the $$$$$ and is now at Essendon. Move on, lets discuss the champions of our team, not players that have chosen to play elsewhere.

Pretty clear we're gonna pick up another mature KPD I imagine. Frost?

Liking some of the players that are being thrown up in the various phantom drafts. Clurey, Simpson, Lonergan, Corr, Wood.

Seems we've covered almost every possible player lol. Maybe we will end up with someone we've discussed haha.

Even those with 41 and 44 sound okay.

Think we might be feeling pretty giddy about the Hickey and Lee trades after next Thursday

Do you know for sure that StKilda didn't tank in 2000?
Will it help if the AFL kill Melbourne for it , so that they have to bail them out a couple of years later ( and they wont move them to tassie or let them die )?

Now do you have clear evidence that they tanked?

I think you are definitely onto something here. I was always suspicious about that game against the Hwks when we were 10 goals up at 1/4 time.

Now if you read sunshine's post that you quoted, I don't think he actually accuses them. But if the AFL find that they are guilty, then throw the book at them. And frankly if our club is dumb enough to do the same, then we should be penalised like everyone else.

Pretty sure that game was in 1998. And begun our downward spiral from what I hear.

The games in 2000 I might be more concerned about...Though I have no real memory of any of them.

listening to the presser, i interpretted it completely different. basically watters said you couldnt fill all the gaps in the list in one draft.

IMO the ready made KPD has gone out the window. I think we'll chase the kids, maybe a ready made mid.

Oh I still think we'll take a young KPD with 25-26. Just think we might consider a mature ager with one of our later picks.

Yeah I got really into it in 2007-2008. But didn't pay much attention in 2009-11. Probably cos we traded a lot of our picks, had really late picks, and took some recycled hacks.

But really keen for this year. Is it gonna be 'televised' again this year? Or just listen on radio? Either way I'll be making sure I got no plans!
