Someguy on KM's thread said we've shown 'interest' in Jesse Wells.

Interest means an interview, and clubs usually interview alot of players they dont end up drafting. So if anything it's just another name to discuss.

26yo, 196cm/101kg, KPD/KPF, runs 100m in 11 seconds.

First impressions is that the man is a very big unit. If he's as fast as they say he'd have little trouble matching it physically with the big forwards which we need. Definitely wouldn't mind giving him a crack. Love his chasing efforts in that little package as well. Always good to have big men willing to put pressure on even when it's hit the deck. Definitely wouldn't want to be caught in a tackle from him...

From that package (which in fairness is mostly forward stuff) I wouldn't mind giving him a crack. Definitely looks to have the physical attributes.

EDIT: Listed at 104kg on the Youtube vid.

I can see why he's been linked to us have a read of these excerpts

I haven't spoken to any clubs directly but we've got a few things in the pipeline that I'm not really going to say much about," Wells said
I know there are [AFL] clubs whose backlines have been depleted over the last six weeks or so, Wells said.
"They are always looking for guys who have played a fair bit of footy and are a little bit more experienced.

Me Like
Very versatile.
I guess we'd mainly want him for his defensive work.
He looks pretty solid in that clip, and it looks like If he's given any space he'll rebound his own ball. ( Imagine if he was playing against Kosi ).
Seems to know when to Mark and when to spoil.
I guess we need some tassie watchers to comment, since they dont tend to put the bad stuff in the highlights clips.

If we got him we'd probably want to get one of the younger prospects as well, since he will be getting on by the time the younger guys start hitting their straps.

He's not from W.A. which would be a change.

Wells, a 196cm, 104kg key position player, enjoyed a stellar season with North Hobart in the TSL.
He was named the Demons' best and fairest, recapturing arguably his best form since being picked up by the Western Bulldogs with pick 22 in the 2004 national draft .
A string to Wells' bow was his versatility, dominating as a key forward and backman with the Demons this year.
While Armstrong was unaware of any AFL clubs' interest in the 26-year-old, he would not be surprised if the video was viewed by talent scouts around the country.
"He is one big, powerful unit," Armstrong said.
"He has got himself reasonably fit and has this amazing burst of speed, he can create plenty of space out on the lead.
"This year he played at both ends of the ground, which is a big plus in all recruiters' books.
"There is no doubt he has the attributes which may create some interest."

I'm a lover, not a fighter
Holy giganticus!

You know those moments you dream about where some long lost uncle you've never heard of or seen leaves you a million dollars in his will?

I just got that feeling.

I like it.

I like it a lot.

If Wells slotted into FB next year, our first choice back 6 could be:

Sam Fisher - Pick 55, Mature Age Recruit from Adelaide
James Gwilt - Pick 63, taken out of suburban football
Tom Simpkin - Pick 29 in the rookie draft
Jarryn Geary - Pick 58 in the rookie draft
Sean Dempster - Arrived as 'steak knifes' with Adam Schneider (both for pick 26)
Jesse Wells - Pick ??, Mature Age Recruit from Tasmania

Talk about finding diamonds in the rough...

I just have to get around to sending in the $100K cheque tomorrow to have the millions of dollars wired into our account.

I was gonna make a thread about that but keep forgetting.

Why would we want to waste a high pick on a KPD when every single one of our defenders was taking absurdly late lol.

makes me wonder even more why we were so willing to throw everything we had at mitch brown. it's not as if we're not capable of developing backmen... I know we're probably trying to push for a finals campaign but having zac dawson proved we don't need an a-grade full-back (which brown isn't anyway) to get to the top.
