But he also had 11 possessions and a goal, and averaged 24 hitouts a game last year?

Not sure what you'd want from a backup who - all things going well with Macca and Rhys - won't play many (or any) games.
Why do you think Richmond got Maric? Because Graham's deplorable. If you want to see the true meaning of "dinosaur ruckman" then look at Graham. Maybe his shitty work around the ground wouldn't be that bad if he was exceptional at hit outs but he isn't. I don't want him in the team under any circumstance.

I'm keen on Hickey, Sheeza, but I don't think he'd be the answer to the replacement ruckman problem. I'd prefer we had him in the first team as a second ruck that swings forward, along with Stanley.

For the situation we're in we need to get a number one ruck that isn't getting a game at the moment, wouldn't command much money, is very competent at hit outs but doesn't have to be amazing around the ground, that can step in if Big Ben goes down. Graham doesn't do well at hit outs so no to him. Warnock would want too much so no to him. If we could get Mark Seaby cheaply I think he'd be a good get.

Agree with Hickey as he is young and very very promising as a ruck / forward. For immediate back up, a ruck from the VFL, WAFL, SAFL etc

I know he isn't the best person for news, But it'll be interesting to see if Damien Barrett Mentions the Warnock to Saints thing on the Footy Show tonight, Considering he mentioned the Saints have shown interest in Hickey last week.

I like Hickey, he looks like a natural forward, he meets the ball hard and clunks marks and can ruck - A perfect foil for McEvoy and add Stanley into the mix as a permanent forward - Potentially a good trio of tall's for the next decade.

I'd like to see us chase him as part of the Caddy deal.

There aren't that many ruckmen in the state leagues that look worth picking up tbh

I can't find the overall hit out stats for the VFL but Sikora looks like he'd be right up there

The biggest hit out winners in the WAFL are Lammie (23 but undersized at 198cm and 97kg) and Paul Johnson (28 and has played for 3 AFL clubs, delisted by Melbourne in 2010 and delisted by Hawthorn last year)

I can't find the hit out stats for the SANFL

Dawson Simpson actually looks like he could be well worth a punt, gets more hitouts and touches than Sikora in the VFL, is massive at 206cm and 105kg, still young at 23.
Would he want to come to another club as depth though?
Reason he isn't getting games at Geelong is because he is Injury Prone & Also they gave him a few games this year and really didn't reward Geelong. Seems a VFL player so far. But once again Injury's are his worry.

Think he'd be worth a look in if he wouldn't command much in a trade, maybe our top medical team would be able to sort him out.

Surely if he was any good Geelong wouldn't trade him would they?? Stephenson is old, Vardy could possibly be Podsiadlys replacement with West/Simpson as there #1 #2 Rucks? Will be interesting to see what they do with Simpson.

From what SEN said he wants out, so it might not be a matter of Geelong wanting to trade him.

That's the role i'd slot Hickey into..Forward cum ruckman..
Was also eyeing off Seaby, but my preference is a Hickey if possible, has some serious upside..

Josh Toy. Would you?

I've seen him play, and he was pretty bad. But I cannot work out how a supposed 'Top 3' talent from 2 years ago can't even carve out 1 ok game.

He's got a a great kick, he's got speed. Maybe has the Sam Crocker's and just can't get near it?

Everyone is looking for the "Leigh Brown"/"Jarrod Roughead" type to play forward and pinch hit in the ruck. Only problem is both these guys could seriously play. Roughy is a superstar, in any other team he would be a cult hero. Browny was pretty good, big & strong with a crash-n-bash style that benefitted his teammates.

Seaby....please
Warnock...no
Graham....pass
Giles....nup
Gumbleton....no thanks

We need a decent player, not John Wests rejects

We don't need a Leigh Brown type, Macca and Stanley are perfectly suitable. The only reason we're looking at ruckmen is for depth.

Thing is we shouldn't be looking for a Roughead/Brown type. Ideally we want someone who can play back and pinch-hit ruck to counteract when a Cox goes forward or have the size to if not outmuscle at least compete with a Roughead.

Warnock over Seaby easily!
Warnock can't play forward and is useless at anything but tap work hence the reason he can't get a game for Carlton when their team is in desperate need of quality talls. Would you play two lumbering ruckman like mcevoy and Warnock in the same team? If not who do you play in the vfl, and if you want to play Warnock in the vfl are you happy for him to play there with his reported 400k salary?

Stefan Martin has played as a defender hasn't he? Or someone like Pederson
