His older brother is my mates boss and i got him to ask. He wouldnt say too much but told him he wants to go either collingwood or geelong cos he thinks they have more chance of winning a flag. He did say that if he cant get there he will be heading to seaford
Genuine Sauce ?

I would think Eddy would find a way to make it happen....don't understand how he will fit in though

I wouldn't bother me regardless, whether we pick caddy up or a top 13 selection

If we keep our pick, the talent will still be there in the draft

The only thing with Cadddy is we can already see how he handles the top level

Yeah Caddy is more of a sure thing, but at least this way we can pick a couple of mids and they can develop with Ross, Newnes etc while our guns are still playing well.

Very true. The advantage of Caddy if he is deemed to be good enough as a mid fielder, is that we fast track him, as he has already had two years of development at Gold Coast.

I guess as long as he's content with St Kilda, anything can happen..
One way we can trump Geelong would be to put together a player with our pick for a 2nd player in return. Make it a bumper deal so it's just not all about the picks, because straight up Geelong's compo trumps ours easy.

Im still expecting Pelch and co to pull some big moves, so I'm half expecting to see some contracted guys be floated, obviously signing them to a contract gives us some traction at the trade table.

Don't think that'll work, Gold Coast are looking to clear spots, not fill them. Their list size has begun to shrink, they have to take at least three new draftees and they've got to find a spot for O'Meara, so that's seven players they have to delist/trade out.

Only reason players might come into the deal is if it's a three-way trade with Western Sydney so Gold Coast get a mini-draft pick.

Just floating this out there, but what about Joey Montagna for Caddy & Hickey? I mean, I love Joey, but Jack is his natural replacement and I think Watters is grooming Joey to be our primary tagger, which is a job I'd love to see Ledger/Ross playing to get some experience into them. Would free up some cap room as well for us to make a genuine play at a top defender.
Also, as a side thought, do anyone think that the saints aren't making a proper play for Chaplin because they think Goddard will leave, and don't want to waste their compo pick? And what are peoples thoughts on Mitch Brown (wce) and Luke Thompson (ade), haven't seen Thompson play, I like Mitch Brown from what I've seen, isn't the most attacking player but good old fashioned full back.

I agree regarding Chaplin, it wouldn't be ideal if we lost Goddard and only gained a third round pick cos we picked up Chaplin.

If with are to lose Goddard then I couldn't think of anything worse than trading an experienced player like Joey. We don't wanna sell our sell for the sake of youth and draft picks, just look at the Demon's as prime examples.

I haven't seen a lot of Mitch Brown (WC) however he seems to fit the profile however he may cost us a second round pick (pick 35 or so?) and he's only a fringe player at the Eagles. We may go the cheaper option like Tom Gillies who would only cost us a late pick. There's also talk that we may be interested in Mitch Brown from Geelong who may solve our tall forward options when Roo and Kosi retire.

I'm starting to not want Caddy anymore. The bloke wants to return to Melbourne for the health of his father however only wants to play for a select few teams. Poor attitude IMO, he should just be happy to return to Melbourne. What a sook. Maybe we should save our early picks for young draftees who are just happy to live their dream and get selected by any AFL club. If we want a bit more midfield depth then we could look elsewhere like Koby Stevens from WC.

Mitch Brown is not a KP backman, gets slaughtered the same way any of ours do, gets injured more frequently and as such doesn't fill the holes we need filling, similarly his namesake at Geelong might stay on as cover for a Menzel since at this point his knees would be close to ratshit with the reco's.

.
Caddy can say what he wants , but in the end his team will be chasing the best result for them.
For example if we offer a first round draft pick, we can beat both Collingwood and Geelong.
In which case his team will say "do you want to stay or do you want to go to StKilda"?
The question is more, what do we want to pay for this guy?

Actually no, the value of our compo pick is determined by our ladder position the year that its activated. If GC receive it and activate it for next years draft, and we drop to 9-12, the pick is worth approx pick 7-10 depending on other activated compo/free agency compo for that year.

Either way, Geelong got a mid 1st rounder and an end of 1st rounder. Isn't the mid 1st rounder the one they still have? It may fall just before or just after our 1st rounder.

Confusing much?
