Isn't their some question of his height? He seems like a pretty decent forward though, so I wouldn't mind taking a punt. Any idea where people think he will go?
Height doesn't concern me for our full-forward. We have jones as a tall CHF and Cordy as the second ruck/forward so we have plenty of tall timber up front.

What we need is a gun goal-kicker/one on one guy. A guy that scares the hell out of the opposition if isolated. Someone that demands a double team, which will in turn make life a LOT easier for Cordy, dahlhous, grant.

I really think stringer can be that guy. So if membrey is a gun goal-kicking forward at 190cm, that's absolutely fine by me...

Really really want us to parlay Williams or lake into another pick in the 10-18 range.

Re Tim Membrey: I have heard knocks on him about height (190cm?) and pace. The latter in particular is still to be substantiated and I'm sure the combine will help sort that out.

I also recall McCartney saying he was interested in a "slightly shorter" KPF ... is that correct? The rationale being that we have a few 200cm options (for a forward pocket?) but we need someone with agility etc. Presumably a bit like Chris Grant or Pav or O'Keefe. Makes sense to me but I guess that means they must have reasonable pace as well.

Both Stringer and Membrey (subject to pace being OK) should fit the bill. So should Jarrad Grant for that matter but he just can't bulk up.

My two bobs worth:

Our first three picks should be mids. Only one team (Hawthorn) has drafted a spine first and built a team around it and gone on to win a premiership. And they tin-arsed it with Roughy and Franklin in the same draft. That KP talent isn't available in this draft. Mids, mids, mids, and mids who have it all. Anyone we draft has to be able to tackle, kick, get the pill, and run. If eg Jack Martin can't tackle, don't draft him. Don't care how good the rest of his game is.

Also, I'm happy to trade Lake for another first rounder (and will be barracking hard that Hawthorn lose next week so that they might enter the bidding, push Carlton a bit harder). Do not want to trade Williams though. Our investment is yet to mature, and we haven't gotten to fire sale stage with him yet. Important part of our club for 6 more years if we keep him.

Was that quote in a mid-season interview? My take on that was he was trying to motivate one of Grant or Skinner to pull their fingers out. He pretty much described what they would be if they came good. So I don't really read anything into it as far as drafting strategy goes.

I love Membrey, and think he could be an absolute ripper of a FF for us. He's a bit slow, but he makes up for it in his ability to lead into the ball and take strong marks. One of the best kicks for goal I've seen in a while, too. I would still put Stringer ahead of him, but if he doesn't test well or we have concerns I'd love to see us pick Membrey up. Think there're better players available at 5/6 though, so we'd need to get a pick in the 10-15 range in my opinion.
