3. Jack Viney
4. Brodie Grundy
5. Jonathan O'Rorke
6. Sam Mayes
7. Oliver Wines
8. Kristian Jaksch
9. Lachlan Plowman
10. Joe Daniher (F/S)
11. Tom Lee
12. Jackson Macrae
13. Nathan Hrovat
14. Dayle Garlett
15. Nick Vlastuin
16. Tim Membery
17. Josh Simpson
18. James Stewart (F/S)
19. Troy Menzel
20. Jesse Lonergan
21. Jake Stringer
Interesting draft.

Of the picks...
I seriously don't see Tom Lee getting taken with a mid first-round pick - he is a mature age KPF now, having been cut from an AFL list in the past. I also doubt Nathan Hrovat getting taken first round, great ball magnet, but his height and pace will surely count against him.

Of the non-picks...
I wonder where they see Mason Shaw (generally rated as the best KPF in this draft) will fall - only 5 picks to get past and we could land him. That would be awesome!

Surely they are taking the piss with Lee at 11, he won't get drafted in top 30 at least and Membrey and Hrovat won't be first rounders either. I think this shows just how poor the tall forward stocks are this year and they are looking for players to push up order with likes of Lee and Membrey.

While I don't disagree with you, we have fallen for this trap in the past, drafting the 'best available' KPF in Grant and Walsh.... Because everyone is looking for them, sometimes they go higher up than you would expect...

Thanks Woofles. Pretty interesting that they have Jimmy Toumpas slipping to 5 and no mention of Stringer. I'd love the dogs to pick up Toumpas at 5.

Yeah fair point, as long as it is not us taking them 15+ spots before they should be drafted!

From what I read earlier, dogs are mulling over a deal for pick 5+6 for Martin + Hogan.
**** me that would **** us over. No to using both picks and I would prefer someone that can make an impact next year.

Don't care about making an impact next season. If we think those 2 will be better players in time than the guys available at 5 + 6 this year, we do it. Simple as that

Would love Martin and Hogan but would want some serious change back in this scenario. As much as I want Hogan and Martin I just think its too big a risk for the situation the club is in (unless we also have a way to get a pick around 10-15) I think we would be better off asking for Martin and Lee for pick 6 and using pick 5 on Mayes or Stringer.

Also what happens if we do it and then Toumpas slips to 5, I would probably cry.

Toumpas won't slip. He's why Gold Coast won't chase martin with pick 2. I'd take toumpas with the first pick in this draft.

i think we'd get some solid change. We could end up in the deal with GWS and Richmond. GWS give Dom Tyson to Richmond for pick 9, Bulldogs give GWS picks 5 and 6 for MD 1, 2 and pick 9. yaaay.

I'd rather Dom Tyson than pick#9.
I just thought about that. After Smorgon's comments about us going hard after gws and gc kids, that's not out of the question at all. It would be in line with Macca's comments too about getting kids with a bit of that work already in their system too. I think 5 and 6 isn't bad for two 17 year olds and a first year player. i'd throw in one of our more disposable kpds too if i had to.

I don't think I would be able to control myself if we pulled that deal off... We shouldn't even speculate about trades like this because it will never happen. Dom Tyson could have easily gone number #1 last year. If you get a chance... have a look at Dom Tyson's prospect clip from last year on You-Tube, he is something special. He would be the perfect addition to our emerging midfield. In my opinion he is better than Mayes, O'Rourke, Wines and Toumpas.

I agree. If the kid wants to go home though they have to trade him. picks 5 and 6 this year will be the best offer they can get i reckon.

'At least one other Victorian club has inquired about Tyson as clubs begin to eye the abundance of talent on the GWS list'

from http://www.heraldsun.com.au/afl/gws...on-is-off-limits/story-e6frf9io-1226476839357
The main content from this article covers how GWS can attack Cotchin. But as Smorgo said, we're fine for money and we will be for a while, so going hard at them won't be a problem.
If someone can think of a way that GWS can get a better deal though let me know. Haha, you're right about speculating on deals like this, it gets me over excited, but not in the Bruce Macavaney way.

I'm all about sustained success. If Stringer doesn't test well and we assess that Hogan is better than anyone else we can get I'm all for going after both Martin & Hogan.

In a deal like that we could easily take back a 2nd or 3rd round pick as these aren't as important to GWS with them having to trim their list.

We already have problems giving all our youngsters enough game experience so we could use next year more of an assessment year for several of youngsters to see if they should be apart of the next phase of the club.

We are going to be pretty bad regardless but this gives us a better chance at getting a Boyd or Aish rather than pick 6.

It's not like we wouldn't have other picks - we have seen in the past how lower/rookie picks can come in and also make an impact immediately (Dahlhaus, Dickson etc)

Even if you don't agree with me as many of you won't, you can't argue that Martin & Hogan wouldn't fill our two greatest needs

Martin is still priority #1 though

Imagine how exciting 2014 would be with potentially 3 top 5 picks coming into the side

Agree with just about everything. Only thing i don't want is the consideration of Boyd, Aish or Billings next year. This year has been so long, i'm tired. I'll get off bf a week after the draft and get into cricket. I don't want next year to be so off season focussed for me. I want 7-8 wins, i want Jones to step up and kick 30 goals or so, i want people in the media to be yapping about our young list, and i want the climb to start. When we beat Norf this year i thought that we have a lot of the right tools already, i felt confident in the game plan and a lot of our pups, i thought that in an ideal world this would be the draft that we got the supreme talent to get us over the line. Martin and Hogan should be enough, lets hope everyone lifts a notch next year and getting Aish etc isn't a priority.

But then there is reality. And i can see why it still is a distinct possibility we end up with a supreme talent next year too :(:thumbsu: but that means another year like this.
