Just my two cents on a few names that has been mentioned.
Brent Maloney (Free Agency); no - wont pay well overs for something we already have. I know he may be an upgrade on Lonergan/Lee, but I wouldn't want us to be paying $400,000 for a B grade midfielder.
Jordan Gysberts (trade); yes - we do need ball winners in our midfield. We have for far to long had guys averaging teens, time to improve these teens into the 20's and beyond. Sure, skills may not be the best, but he is an inside midfielder who tries to break away from packs. Not sure what it would take, but I would seriously consider having a look at this former # 11 draft pick.
Daniel Pearce (Free Agency); no - we have the outside players, they just need time to develop. Watch out for Ross, Kavanagh and even Travis Colyer to make an impact on the senior team next year as outside runners.
Brendon Goddard (Free Agency); yes - why say no at the chance to add some much needed quality to our team. Would easily account for 90% of our best 22 for both form and quality. My mail is that Fremantle have a seriously good offer on the table should Travis Cloke not go there, add to that some extra info on the side (that im not giving out, so

).
Lucas Cook (trade/draft); yes - he has not been that bad. He is after all a second year KPF. Given I have only seen two of his games, a 10 possession, 0.2, 4 contested mark game against Bendigo, and a 3.1 3 contested mark 11 possession game against Northern Blues. Depends what we think will happen with Gumby and what position we see Joe Daniher playing at AFL level (full forward or a centre half forward).
Josh Caddy (trade); yes - a quality goal kicking inside midfielder. My one question though, how do we expect to obtain him? I just hope that some of these rumours circulating are true and we might get some compensation for Monfries in the range or a first/second round pick that we may be able to work in and get Caddy. I know it prob wont happen, but its a pipe dream.
Im going to throw up a name I had mentioned earlier (but got no bites). George Horlin - Smith. 'The Hyphen' as he seems to be more commonly known as on the Geelong board. Picking up some seriously big numbers for the VFL Geelong side (10 of his 13 games were 20+). He has strong vision and awareness, good skills for an inside midfielder and seems to be able to play across half back to start with. I wonder what
Turbocat thinks about where GHS is at?
Another highly sought after midfielder is Josh Thomas (Collingwood) when up and running he is a strong inside midfielder with goal kicking capabilities. Strong attack at the ball and has tidy kicking skills. A player who has been mentioned on the collingwood board as a possible delisting through to a possible debutant come finals. Wonder why he isnt getting a game, can
Knightmare or
Snoop Dog enlighten us?
